Obama’s National Security Advisor Gen. James Jones Ret. cracked a greedy Jew joke during a key note speech at a Washington Institute For Near East Policy last week. The administration reportedly deleted all references to the joke afterwards, but fortunately CSPAN cameras were there and apparently caught it.
So did Yid With Lid:
The joke was scrubbed from the official transcript. Yid with Lid reported:
Was the Joke Anti-Semitic? Well, the White House must have thought so. The White House transcript sent to reporters after the event conveniently began a couple of minutes into the speech. The video of the event posted on the Washington Institute Web site started right after the Joke, you can even hear the end of the laughter.
Its interesting that the same President that see racism in the legitimate actions of the Cambridge Police and the State of Arizona, hides the anti-Semitic prose of its National Security Adviser.

Yes. It’s a demeaning joke. It would have been funny if he had simply said “shop owner” instead of “Jew”. Why a Jew? Why not a stingy Scotsman? “My country”? If the shop owner was in Afghanistan, he would be Afghani. No Israeli – or Scotsman – would be able to survive alone in Afghanistan. Terrible.
hudson duster commented:
It’s not so much that people are eager to take offense – after all, we are not progressives! – but rather the offensive double standard. Obozo zealously watches for signs of bigotry, but is willing to excuse it when he approves of the target.

Not much of a story here, people too sensative. need to be able to laugh at yourself. BIG problem if a republican said it though. powder is dry.
Redwine commented:
Stereotyping is a nasty, degrading act. Dan Rather talks about O and watermelons, and he gets talked over. Black politicians make false accusations about Tea Partiers using the N word, and the MSM have hissy fits. Just try to make any joke about Muslims and they’ll be out with fatwas and threats and real attempts to slice your head off. But make a joke that stereotypes Jews, well that’s just dandy and totally acceptable in a world that is growing more sinister for Israel and Jews everywhere.
Jones is a pathetic and disgusting guttersnipe.
vagabond trader commented:
Stereotypical rubbish from a person who has an ignorant biased opinion of Jews.I’d expect to hear this at an elitist democrat cocktail party not at an intellectual “think tank” event.Oh wait, not much of a difference is there?
donh commented:
Study the writings of american socialist Edward Bellamy and you will find clear anti semetism sentiments depicting the Jew as the ultimate capitalist. In fact the use of water in the joke is an allusion to Edward Bellamy’s famous ” parable of the water tank” that is used as his model for the greedy capitalist. Edward Bellamy was an intimate fellow with balck socialist WEB DuBoise who’s institute at Harvard is chaired by Obama’s close friend Professor Gates. The socialist movement that Obama leads is deeply anti semitic and having a few bolshevik jews like Emanuel and Axelrod fronting for this administration does not hide this fact.
Chris Vehr commented:
Loosen up! It’s quite a stretch to call that a “Greedy Jew Joke”. If anyone should be offended, it should be the Taliban. After all, its character in the story was made to look stupid.
If we take offense to such trivialities, they we have lowered ourselves to the standards of liberals. I don’t know much about General James Jones, but he tells a good joke.
Redwine commented:
It’s more of a “conniving Jew” joke than a “greedy” one. In any case, it’s vile and offensive, as stereotype is, and speaks loudly of O and those he surrounds himself with – as donh (16) pointed out.
donh commented:
Study the background of James Jones . He went to an american school in Paris and then to the Edmund A Walsh School of foreign service at Georgetown. Edmund A Walsh was a communist / nazi sympathizer. Walsh was in Russia during the early years of the revolutionary government helping them get through a famine. During the Nuremberg trials Walsh advised the lead prosecutor to forgive General Karl Haushofer , teacher of Rudolph Hess, and as a result haushofer never stood trial. This is who Mr Jones looks to as a mentor , an american socialist fascist jew hater .

My Dad liberated the death camp at Ehrdruff in Germany in 1945. The jews didn’t believe the worst could happen in Europe either. Now American Jews actually support Palestinian and other muslim terrorists against the Military that is protecting the lives of the Jews themselves. Incredibly stupid. If the Jews are this unconcerned about their survival as a “race”, they deserve to receive what the muslims will most surely give them. They are not worth the effort and blood to save them this time.

I’m Jewish, and other Jewish conservatives have been sending me variations of that joke for a few years. I think it’s pretty funny, actually….and it’s more about Jews outsmarting the Other Guy (usually an Arab, but here a Taliban) than it is about Jews being greedy merchants.
Therefore, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, but the White House obviously does in these overly sensitive times.
A few weeks ago, I watched “Blazing Saddles” with my 17-year old son. Today, more than 30 years later, not only couldn’t you MAKE a movie like that, I doubt you could even SHOW that movie on a college campus without being accused of “hate speech.” That’s not progress.
I am more concerned that Jew-haters like Bryzinsky are being allowed to shape policy – he’s been pushing for negotiations with “moderate Taliban” for at least a year.

Rather amusing to see people who cheer on South Park to make fun of some dirtbag named Muhammad, but God Forbid someone makes a joke about a Jewish Merchant.

apodoca commented:
Yes, first the joke about the Jew, then follows the dehumanization of the Jews, then comes the genocide. It always begins with a drip and is always followed by a flood.
To those who don’t see the vicious statement made by the “joke”, this: the man was asking for water to sustain his life; the “joke” depicted the Jewish guy as lacking in all humanity that he would seek to make money rather than show sympathy for a fellow human. The point is that the Jewish guy has no fellow-feeling; he’s not human; he’s sub-human cuz only a beast would deny a man a drink of water to save his life.
Not so innocuous now, is it?
olds-mo-william commented:
I fail to see the reason for this old joke. It had no purpose in context and shows his stupidity.
pdoth commented:
This cannot be shown nationally to the media. At least not in order to “expose” this kind of stuff. Why? Because its funny since its true. Also the Greedy Scottish guy would be different because when a Scottish guy moves to America he willingly becomes American first and its just more palpable when that is the case, the “us against them” mentality does not go unnoticeded…so you see..
CrustyB commented:
Not the least bit anti-Semitic. The conflict between Taliban and Jews is the premise, the pivot of the joke is that the Taliban needs a tie to get water. It doesn’t show Jews as “lacking in all humanity,” obviously he’s less than sympathetic to a Taliban because Muslims want all Jews dead, per the Koran.
If you want to witness real racism, look at Obama’s comments about his grandmother and Cambridge police, Biden’s comment about Indians and 7-Elevens, Boxer’s condescension of a black businessman and any number of anti-Semitic comments by “Reverends” Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
James commented:
Imagine the outrage if anyone in the Bush Administration had said anything even remotely like this. chris matthews would dedicate 3 weeks to this calling Bush a nazi. Oh, I forgot, he did that anyway. I’m waiting for the outcry from the lib media…. 3, 2, 1, and now… and now…
pdoth commented:
Wait that is confusing. I was just encourged, on this board, to read, American Thinker, Chris Schwartz article about how Matthews himself is the Jew-hating Nazi. Politics is a funny thing but could this be a right and left discruntlement? Quelle abstraction.

You see the elasticity of anti-semitism? A) Jews are self-hating wimps who don’t stick up for themselves. B) Jews stick up for themselves too much: they put being a Jew before being an American. Either way, they deserve what they get.
To anyone who can’t see why this big cheese should not be telling anti-semitic jokes in an official speech, I say look no further than the above commenters who feel their views have been confirmed, and think the joke is “true.”
Earl Butz told a joke about blacks to John Dean on a plane. A few years later when this got out, Butz had to resign from the Carter administration. Zero tolerance of ethnic jokes is not so zero, it depends on your place in the PC hierarchy.
Ron: “Rather amusing to see people who cheer on South Park to make fun of some dirtbag named Muhammad, but God Forbid someone makes a joke about a Jewish Merchant. Someone care to explain this logic to me?”
OK, here goes logic for dummies:
South Park is a low-rent animated comedy show that has made fun of all religions (well, except Islam) and the jokesters don’t have their salary paid by for my taxes for the business of representing and protecting me. This jokester is not just “someone;” he’s a guy from an administration and party that is accusing the opposition of being a bunch of racists because of their views on… healthcare, spending, taxation (???)
Finally, ponder this irony: make a joke about Muslims, Muslims tend to get hostel towards nonMuslims. Make about Jews, nonJews tend to get hostel towards Jews (e.g. see above).
Barack Obama commented:
I have a joke. Excuse me while I whip it out.

Frankly, even if the Gen. had a made a joke about us Italians all being in the Mafia, I would have found it funny. But, I also have a sense of humor.
I have a feeling, its just a feeling, correct me if I’m wrong please, but I bet you jump up and down about “Political Correctness” and how it’s ruining the country. So here we have a Gen. who makes a off color joke, and you are pounding your chest about it.

NYC-Based Islamists Encourage People to Kill “South Park” Creators For Mocking “Prophet” Mohammed, Addresses Posted With Photo of Theo Van Gogh…
[Over still photographs of Parker, Stone, van Gogh and others, the Web site runs audio of a sermon by the radical U.S.-born preacher Anwar al-Awlaki, who is now in hiding in Yemen. The sermon, recorded some time ago, talks about assassinating those who have “defamed” the Prophet Mohammed – citing one religious authority as saying “Harming Allah and his messenger is a reason to encourage Muslims to kill whoever does that.” U.S. officials say al-Awlaki is on a list of al Qaeda leaders targeted for capture or assassination.

The posting on Revolutionmuslim.com says: “We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”]
South Park Takes on [Censored]

It included a character representing [censored], who spoke from inside a giant bear suit to prevent the illustrators having to depict him — a blasphemous act according to some [censored].]
Today, Jon Stewart — Free Speech Warrior — is My Hero
[Put in the difficult position to address his network’s controversial decision to censor a “South Park” episode that mocked Islamic extremists, he deftly put the network’s decision in context, back-handedly criticized it but summed it up with an adroit, “But hey, they write the checks.”]
these are some of the supporters of “this group”..
[He noted that the three politicians’ campaign war chests are
heavily funded by radical Islamists who support the mosque.
"While brave young Virginia men and women are risking their lives to fight terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan, Connolly, Moran and Kaine are yucking

Regular Ron:
1) I love South Park, which is full of jokes are about Jews and Christians (and I’m equal parts both). Once every five years they try the slightest levity with Islam and the show is censored. PC for thee but not for me is more like it.
2) This senior level guy from the Obama Administration helps formulate our policy towards (or against) Israel and before delivering his speech he feels the need to do a Jew joke. He says it’s apropos to his speech and probably true. If he did a Muslim joke under the same circumstances, YES, I’d find this guy offensive, and probably only half-joking. But funny how you had to hypothesize; there are no examples to cite! That tells you something right there.
3) The hypocrisy is the worst part, that once again, people on the left prohibit the very thing they’re so fond of doing themselves (like the global warmongers having the biggest carbon footprints).
4) Obama, in his book, says these words, from Rev. Wright, inspired him to go into politics: “White man’s greed in a world of need.” That joke is just a funny way of saying the same thing. So more than just a joke, it’s the Obama administration’s world view. And that I find very offensive.

First of all–the joke was funny.
Second–Millerites and the Scofield freaks seem to somehow miss the fact that chiliasm was condemned by the Church about as quickly as was Arianism.
St. Paul settled this whole matter centuries ago in Romans 11–if one can read what he said without prejudice.
Why on earth any American lets 7th century heretics and 1st century heretics define our political discussions is so far beyond the pale as to be unbelievable.
But most let it happen.
Father Neuhaus would have shot this whole matter down in a NY minute.

And I’m furious with the MSM who covered it up, and the dumbed-down, dipsh*t voters who just couldn’t be bothered with little details such as the fact that the king of Jew-haters, Louis Farrakhan, said Obama might be the Messiah.
Or the fact that Obama said that he’d sit down without any preconditions, i.e., like Neville Chamberlain, and talk with Mahmoud Hitler Ahmadinejad.
Obama said that, in a pinch, he’d stand with the Muslims. Well, I stand firmly and proudly with the Jews. History is going to judge the Jew-hater Obama about as kindly as it judges Adolf Eichmann.
