Another Broken Promise–
During the 2008 campaign Barack Obama pledged not to raise taxes on families making less than $250,000 a year.
After tripling the national budget deficit his first year in office Barack Obama told reporters in February that he was “agnostic” to raising taxes on those making less than $250,000 a year to bring down the deficit. Today Obama suggested his value-added tax is still on the table.
The AP reported:
President Barack Obama suggested Wednesday that a new value-added tax on Americans is still on the table, seeming to show more openness to the idea than his aides have expressed in recent days.
Before deciding what revenue options are best for dealing with the deficit and the economy, Obama said in an interview with CNBC, “I want to get a better picture of what our options are.”
After Obama adviser Paul Volcker recently raised the prospect of a value-added tax, or VAT, the Senate voted 85-13 last week for a nonbinding “sense of the Senate” resolution that calls the such a tax “a massive tax increase that will cripple families on fixed income and only further push back America’s economic recovery.”
For days, White House spokesmen have said the president has not proposed and is not considering a VAT.
“I think I directly answered this the other day by saying that it wasn’t something that the president had under consideration,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters shortly before Obama spoke with CNBC.
After the interview, White House deputy communications director Jen Psaki said nothing has changed and the White House is “not considering” a VAT.

VAT tax fraud in the EU is rampant. The scary thing is Obama perhaps gets his information from wikipedia and that is the extent of his knowledge. We already know his Law license was taken away from him, Harvard failed him and gave him a position to shut up his civil rights dribble, because he was stupid. His wife’s Princeton thesis is unreadable –incoherent. And we know that teleprompter age of the President is run by Marxist writers and, thugocracy has came with this Obama regime. No transparency in either the stimulus or the Healthcare bills, which made Obama the more fraud that he is and we should expect more fradulism from him in the future.
Just_Saying commented:
So, on Savage’s radio show today, it was noted that once a person is elected to a political office, all of a sudden, he becomes an expert. Why do people think that simply because Obummer was elected as president, all of a sudden he’s super intelligent and we should respect his deep thoughts?
I think Obummer’s an affirmative action moron, no disrespect to morons.

Of course there is never a word said by anyone
including the Republicans about cutting spending.
Remember they were going to cut fraud and waste
from Medicare? 2 – 3 hundred billions wasn’t it?
And whatever happened to JOBS?
Buncha holes all of ‘em.
Ladue Pundit commented:
The Republicans did not support his unholy trillion $ budget, stimulus I, or Healthscare.
The Democrats have been in and spending since 2006. I can’t wait until the (Democrat) Party’s Over!

The last 8 years have included 4 years of democrat house sentate control and almost 2 years of Obama. Looks like that crap might have to be modified.

Tax and spend, currency crisis, debt crisis, hunger, revolution, bloodshed…Our dear leader knows where this is going…His VAT, even if passed which is debatable won’t solve the problems of this Federal government…They want Cap & Trade for the taxes and it won’t be enough. They want to legalize fifteen million illegals for taxes and it wont’ be enough, (no brainer since these are poor people who will take more in services than they contribute in taxes, they will all be in the bottom 47% not paying Fed taxes). There won’t be any stopping the zimbabwaism coming to this country unless states dissolve the union and strike out on their own and live by the fundamentals of our Constitution…
BurmaShave commented:
With this my bet is that Zippy will NOT be running for re-election in 2012.
That said, who else is Presidential timber on the Democratic side? Don’t say Hillary; as his Sec. of State, she is THOROUGHLY tainted (as if she were not thoroughly tainted anyway). How about Dennis Kucinich? LOL! Just kidding. LOL!
Palinfan commented:
Of course you have to raise taxes – to pay for Obamacare and all the bank bailouts, the ferocious job losses, loss of tax revenue from failing businesses, etc.
And the worst part is that I could produce ten Liberals I know right now who would say that raising taxes is a good idea and that Obama is on the right track.

@ Burmashave:
I don’t know. As arrogant and proud as he is, I would be surprised if Obama didn’t run for re-election in 2012. Unfortunately, a lot of people are as gullible as they were 2 years ago, and still think it’s racist to not vote for a black person. Because, except for the far left wing-nuts, most people won’t be swayed by his accomplishments. The only thing he’s done that I agree with is call Kanye West a jack@$$.
The Jimmy Z Show commented:
It’s been a steady downward trend since he took office. His numbers stink.

Future news: Obama stated today that ALL the experts agree that a VAT of 10% is necessary. However, I have studied the numbers and feel that 5% is sufficient at this time. That is a 50% reduction in taxes on the working families of the United States. You’re welcome.
OMG commented:
OMG! Tax, tax and more taxes!!!! This is a true dictatorship. The people have no voice! What can we do?? They just cram down our throats without reading the bill-or listening to our wants. Geez, why would demo-rats what more taxes for their children and grandchildren? Now our utilities will be $500-1000 a month or more, everything we buy another 10% VAT tax, health care bill taxes…whats left? I guess this is giving more “skin” in the game. He gave away our defense shields they are now gone so if IRAN attacks we are sitting ducks. Now schools will not be taught American history, just sexual engagement, social justice crap. Why can’t we have lean nucluar energy? its cheap, clean–and also drill on our own shores? Why are we shutting down our farms and exporting food??? This congress is insane. we have a bunch of nuts in office.

Why work 8 years when you can just work 4 and retire with a nice pension? Obviously BO does not want to be re-elected. Lazy sack.
Blue Collar Todd commented:
As someone who works in the oil industry this really ticks me off. This would seriously harm blue collar jobs in this country and punish those of us who work at these jobs and our families. Keep our taxes low so all the time we spend away from our families working overtime is rewarded with lower taxes, not punished by higher taxes. Especially a VAT Tax that would hurt companies that employee blue collar folks. But then again, this may be the goal of these Totalitarian Leftists. They may want to punish businesses to such a point that they close shop or hand over the reigns to the government. Let 2010 bring an electoral bloodbath to these Democrats.
Galt commented:
On the one hand, I welcome the underground economy that a VAT is certain to inspire. People might once again have opportunities to make an honest living, exchanging real value in voluntary (but secret) transactions.
On the other hand, the formal market economy has brought us great innovations and higher standards of living. It is a shame that greedy politicians will deprive us and our children of that — but I have to believe that freedom will out. It is not immoral or unbecoming to circumvent government thievery. To succumb to it is the error.
Ned Didry commented:
Shortly after Volcker was sent out as the Commie-in-Chief’s canary in a coal mine with the VAT “not as toxic as it used to be” propaganda, I saw some liberal bimbo on TV (I think part of one of Hannity’s panels) say, “But Volcker was speaking for himself.” I never knew that sock puppets *could* speak for themselves.
