More Hope and Change-
The Obama Administration sends out another warning… To Israel.

The Obama Administration won’t rule out firing on Israeli jets if Iran is attacked by Israel.
The Danger Room reported, via Mere Rhetoric:

America’s top military officer wouldn’t rule the possibility today of U.S. forces firing on Israeli jets, if Israel launched a pre-emptive strike on Iran.

In a town hall on the campus of the University of West Virginia, a young Air Force ROTC cadet asked Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen to respond to a “rumor.” If Israel decided to attack Iran, the speculation went, those jet would need to fly through Iraqi airspace to reach their targets. That airspace is considered a “no-fly” zone by the American military. So might U.S. troops shoot down the Israeli jets, the airmen asked the chairman, if they breached that airspace?

Mullen tried to sidestep the question. “We have an exceptionally strong relationship with Israel. I’ve spent a lot of time with my counterpart in Israel. So we also have a very clear understanding of where we are. And beyond that, I just wouldn’t get into the speculation of what might happen and who might do what. I don’t think it serves a purpose, frankly,” he said. “I am hopeful that this will be resolved in a way where we never have to answer a question like that.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this.
Last September, Zbigniew Brzezinski, former foreign adviser to US president Jimmy Carter and current advisor to Barack Obama, called for the US to shoot down Israeli jets.

  1. Yessir, ole Barack would love to kill him some Jews. Kill em good too!

  2. Now I know why friends have said I’d make a lousy soldier.

    That’s an order I wouldn’t obey.

  3. Cue VoiceofTreason with anti-Semitic blather in 3… 2… 1…

  4. You have to be kidding me. So the purpose of the US military now is to DEFEND Iran? How do all those Liberal Jewish donors and voters feel now?

  5. ADVERTISEMENT

  6. The upper brass in the military, are starting to look more and more like Hitler’s SS everyday. Blindly following the enemy. I don’t even trust our own military anymore. The only ones I do trust are the ones who question Obama. The rest seem to be mindless drones.

  7. If we abandon Israel we abandon we abandon ourselves. No, not because of some biblical “warning” but because if Washington doesn’t stand with our stronger allies what makes us think that they stand with us outside of DC?

I’m sorry to say that we MAY be seeing the final act of the curtain lowering down on this nation, the USA. And we all need to be prepared for the economic eventualities within the next ten years and beyond. Add that to the wolves waiting at our porous gates to the north and south should be a wake up call in itself.

The whole world is betting on our country collapsing along with the dollar so they can seize what pieces they can. We’re not immune to ‘nations rise and fall syndrome’.

I pray to God i hope i’m wrong.

  8. Oh I’m sure Obama would like that to happen, but I can’t see too many of our boys doing that. Obama is a detriment to our well being on so many levels. We need a miracle to outlast this wack-a- doddle total nut job.

  9. This president is no president, but a dangerous Iranian-dictator-lover and possible armaggedom starter. Iran has stated over and over it wants to wipe Israel off the map. Israel stated many years ago, if it is fired upon, nuclear missiles will go out in all directions, including Europe as a ‘quick’ responce and a careless attitude. This president has accused USA of evil and he is like a Satanic judge of our people.

  10. If Obama gives the order to fire on Israeli jets, all hell is going to break loose.

  11. In 1948 the brits sent their very own ww2 spitfire pilots to fly Egyptian spitfires against the newly created Israel Airforce. 5 spitfires were shot down in the sonly encounter. The brits never flew against israelis after that. The Israelis were flying ww2 messerschmitts. Should American pilots fly against Israeli pilots I doubt they will escape untouched. It would be a terrible thing for Americans and Israelis as well. Whereas Americans have superior jets the Israelis have far superior avionics. That is why the USAF uses lots of Israeli avionics. I’m sure Israel holds back some top secret stuff, too.

  12. so an admiral refused to publicly state an exception for israel to standing policy regarding a no-fly zone over iraq, and that means obama wants to kill israelis… okey-dokey…

  13. Jon #7

Not some ‘biblical’ warning?? Have you not read those ‘biblical warnings’?

And you pray to God that you are wrong. Son, you are wrong, and the most glaring is that you are dismissing what the Bible says about this age. I suggest you pray to God for wisdom.

This is as it should be. Never before could it have happened that Israel would stand alone. Now it has, and YES, God is true and every man a liar.

  14. OK, this is just nuts! The fact that Mullin wouldn’t answer the question with a resounding “No” has to put Israel on guard as we speak! Wow!

I shouldn’t be surprised though. God said these days would come and here we are. Israel will be alone when Russia, Iran et al attack her except for one Ally…God Himself. They can’t lose. We already have.

  15. Mullen is a “politician” that just happens to wear a uniform. He is trying real hard to get a high-paying job in the obama admistration when he retires.

The Navy enlisted have no respect for him for his “pro-gay” stance which is not going to fly too well on a crowded ship of war. Officers might not have a problem with “gays” in the ship since they have there own private “staterooms” but the enlisted who live 100 to a room will probably have problems having a “barney frank” in the next rack.

One thing about the Israelis is they fly American made aircraft, they are the only country in the Mideast that can actually give us a bloody nose. The only planes in the US arsenal that can defeat Israeli aircraft are the F-22 (which Obama recently shutdown production).

If the US is going to pick sides with the Iranians, I have too root for the Israelis. Never bet on the terrorists to win, it’s a losers bet.

  16. I hate to agree with the troll, but I didn’t get that from Mullen’s statement. Do I think Oblowme would like to shoot down Israeli jets? Yes, I think he’d love it. However, what I got from Mullen’s statement was more along the lines of “No comment.” That could mean he didn’t want to say they would or it could mean that he didn’t want to state publicly that they wouldn’t, thus causing Ahmydinnerjacket to flip the bird at Oblowme again or flip out….more than he’s already flipped out,, that is.

  17. The proper response from Mullen on such a subject is “no comment.” It is not his job to make that policy. And if it has been decided above his pay grade, it is not his job to inform a cadet. The cadet was an idiot for asking. This answer is on the same level as “I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of nuclear weapons on this ship.”

  18. If the U.S. was to shoot down an Israeli jet, it would be a shocker. It would be the end of any trust any ally of America would still possess. America would become one of ‘them’.

  19. Question: Would you kill your mother?

    Answer: No.

    Not Answer: No comment.

No comment means it is not off the table.

  20. These Rabbis Promised Voters Obama Would Be a Longstanding Stalwart Supporter of Israel – They Owe us an Apology
Here’s the letter from Rabbis for Obama where they assured Jews it was safe to Vote for Obama and that he was a friend of Israel:

We join together to support Senator Obama for President, and we do so in the belief that he will best support the issues important to us in the Jewish community.

Some of us know Senator Obama personally, and we recognize that he has been inspired by Jewish values such as Tikkun Olam and the pursuit of justice, and he is deeply committed as well to a civil discourse between opposing arguments. We also know that Senator Obama will inspire young people, both in the Jewish community and the wider American community, to become more involved in improving this country and repairing the world.

We know that Barack Obama’s longstanding, stalwart support for Israel is a testament to his own principles as well as the strong bi-partisan pro-Israel movement in America, and we fear that the attempts by some to use Israel as a wedge issue against him – unjustifiably – is dangerous in that it politicizes the pro-Israel position. Most importantly it has completely distorted Senator Obama’s record. With his tough but pragmatic approach to Iran, Senator Obama is in the best position to restore faith in America as a leader in the fight against serious threats to Israel, our allies, and the United States.

Senator Barack Obama inspires in us the hope for an America once more called to its best values. We know him to be a man of incredible integrity, born of a deep and abiding spiritual faith based on the teachings of the Hebrew Prophets, and committed to achieving a world of peace with justice for all people.

  21. You know, you can put a lot of American’s names on that list, MANY of whom now regret voting for Obama. Is it stupid to vote for somebody you don’t know much about because he makes you feel good about yourself? Yes. Will I hold a grudge against the Rabbis you list? No. I hope they learned a lesson, though.

    God help us all.

  22. Obama won’t rule out firing on Israeli planes? by merely saying that he has ruled it IN and has encouraged more iranian aggression. I still remember those old jewis survivors of the Holocaust coming to my school to speak. ” We must never forget …never forget the Horrors of Hitler” Well they are all FULL OF CRAP supporting a fascist organization like the Democrat party. I love the jewish religion but the american jews are nothing but saul alinsky bolshevics save a few people of courage. They have abandonded the God of Abraham and followed after Spinoza curse be upon him.

  23. If air raids are stopped, Israel may very well jump straight to IRBMs.

  24. Ahmedinejad is a bona fide terrorist hostage- taker.

  25. Why not rule out firing on Israeli planes? LBJ ruled out firing on Israeli planes in 1968 when they were attacking the Liberty.

  26. He’s CinC for another 2 years and 9 months.
I predict Iran will have a nuclear weapon by then.
I predict Russia and China will work closely with Iran to cause as much trouble for the USA as possible.
    Obama can’t handle what’s coming.
As for the Jews, Obama is another in a long history of disasters afflicting them. Of course in this case many non-Jews can say “Told ya”.

  27. This man refuse’s to protect American’s from drug lords and illegals who invade our nation every day, then considers shooting down planes of one of our longest standing allies who are trying to protect their own borders. The hate this man has for America becomes clearer with each passing day. I too had always held out the hope that when the truth was understood about his udder contempt for America that our Armed Forces would be the wall he could not breech. Those on the Hill have failed America, they are so compromised by their back room dealings, and money scam’s they cannot effectively honor the Country they took an oath to preserve. The risk of exposure is the tool the likes of Pelosi, Reed and others use to make them toe the line. I honestly see no bright spots other than the Tea Party, but if the 2010 election’s are the scam I expect, the downward spiral will plummet dramatically. And while I cannot understand the Jewish communities support for this man, they are not the only ones at fault. Truth is voting for anyone or party based on promises of more and better of everything and lower taxes was a fools dream, nothing is free, now that foolish greed has turned on us. I pray that I’m wrong, as age and health have blunted any contribution I might provide. I’m proud of my 20 years in service but time and injuries have taken most of the grunt work out of me. So for those of you who can I pray your voices are heard and acted on.

  28. Ya’ know…

If he had said “yes” to shooting down Israeli forces, Iran would’ve cheered and openly built the dang bombs just to watch us do it.

If he’d said “No”, Iraq would’ve gotten upset, and they’re our ONLY OTHER ALLY IN THAT IMMEDIATE REGION.

What was Mullen supposed to say? As a General, he is to remain politically neutral and under the command of the President. If the POTUS hasn’t said anything specific (or Public) then he cannot simply dictate policy as that would be absurd and probably Constitutionally ILLEGAL.

In short, this is a nothing-burger of a story. Don’t jump on every wagon that passes folks…

  29. well its best too heed the warnnings of the bible it says in the end times nations will rise up against His people there will be earthquakes in adverse places worldwide lawlessness a falling away from God many false gods will apear famine pestilance one world govt one world religion look how many reliogons are getting together brakeup of the natural family wars rumors of wars ect read the last book of the bible and tell me we are not there now

  30. Don’t forget.
America has 100,000+ combat troops, facilities, equipment, armament, and air forces and complete mobility and control currently in place, on BOTH sides of Iran; as well as a formidable navy off it’s coast; plus capability to reach Iran within moments from Sierra Leone, or hours from missile bases in South Dakota.
Iran isn’t a threat to Obama until they strike OUR soil. (which I agree is the wrong policy)

  31. This certainly makes Obama even more popular among the European left wing.

You know, screw this. Let’s start WW3 and get over with it. It’s bound to happen anyway, so why not get it done.

I’ve also decided I will visit the grave of Karl Marx when I’m in London.

And leave a message on it.

Don’t forget to zip up after leaving the message.

  33. Not to worry. Nobody’s gonna know about this but us right wing bloggers. Go GoogleNews the phrase “shoot down israeli jets” and you’ll see that the mainstream media is keeping this from the public.

  34. nothing good happens when your enemy reads into what you’re saying…….a lot of people can die. when you’re perceived as weak – you have to fight all that much harder to correct the perception – unless you plan to hide behind [wink wink nod nod] a so-called mis-interpretation of what you said – plausible
    deniability.

  35. We didn’t learn from the USS liberty? The Israelies will shoot back, more accurately I would bet. Shoot down an israel plane and it will be over for this administration.

  36. And Israel won’t rule out shooting down Airforce One.

  37. Given Iran’s war’s with Iraq, and Shiite Iran’s threat to Sunni Gulf States like Saudi Arabia, we should not rule out either Iraq or Saudi Arabia looking the other way while Israeli jets overfly their territories enroute to and from Iran’s nuke facilities, military, and Gov’t HQs. Of course, afterwards, they’d publically thunder ’bout those horrible Joooos (while privately breathing a sigh of relief).

  38. Our proper role in the Middle East is to be a neutral arbiter between conflicting factions (states); giving Israel a pass to violate Iraqi airspace would harm this role and harm our regional interests. If Israeli jets enter our no-fly zones they should be treated the same as Iranian jets would be.

It’s nice to finally have an administration that doesn’t indulge Israel’s every destructive urge no matter who it hurts. Here’s to hoping Netanyahu and his right-wing fringe party in Israel gets thrown out of office soon and replaced with a more sensible leader.

How the F did you read my thoughts?!

  40. In trying to grapple with this scenario, nothing adds up. This is just crazy, unbridled liberalism gone wild.
Even going so far as to allow discussion of this option is irresponsible.

  41. Unlike Bush this nut can not fly! I’m sure he would like to kill someone, but he can only give orders, and the Geneva Convention says you do not have to obey unlawful orders.

  42. I truly despise to think these words, but does anyone else feel like we’re teetering on the brink of the next world war?

  43. Barry does not have the stones to do this. He can order anything but the field commanders do not have to obey an unlawfull order. Also, there is a chain of events that MUST occur to fire upon a threat. Israel will not be a threat. Soooooo Barry is saber rattling and the Isralis know it. Paper tiger. powder is dry.

  44. Never let a good crisis go to waste, and if there isn’t one handy create one.

  45. I wake up each morning thinking nothing more this putz does will surprise me, and he proves me wrong yet again… nothing like screwing our allies and sucking up to our enemies – the new foreign policy!!!!

  46. All, also the U.S. Navy is blocking the sailors from getting FOX news online. Also, the McDonalds and Burger king resturants are being removed from bases in the war zones. (trying to distroy the moral of the american military). Aid and comfort to the enemy anyone???? powder is dry.

  47. Signs of the End Times:

Jews gathered from over the world-1948
    Israel a nation-05/14/1948
    Jerusalem controlled by jews-1967
    earthquakes-daily
    psunamies-yep
    pestilances-swine flu, bird flu-here
    wars, rumors of wars-Syria/Hezbullah/Iran-yep
    evil called good/good called evil-check

    Soon to come:

    WWIII starts…
    Syria attacks Israel
    Israel destroys Demascus
    Russia/Iran/muslim coalition surround Israel
U.S. doesn’t help Israel (yep, thanks NObama)
In the evening, jews fear their destruction…
…in the morning, 5/6 of Russia/Iran/muslim attackers killed
Israel builds 3rd Temple & animal sacrifices

How much more time or additional signs does a person need to witness to know we are the EndTime generation that will see the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ? 3 years? 7 years? 10 years? 3 more signs? 7 more? 10? The time is probably closer than you think and the signs will only increase in frequency & intensity before the Great Day of God Almighty.

  48. Why is there such a disconnect between the headline of the story and the text of the article?
Adm. Mullen did the best he could considering the circumstances. The question was fair and tough. You’ve gotten so sloppy lately. Why make your detractors’ work easier for them?

  49. First, Iraq does not belong to the United States anyhow, so really, what right does the U.S. have to fire on a plane from the State of Israel flying through Iraqi airspace if it is no threat to Americans on the ground. Mind you, the Iranians would most likely attack the Americans in Iraq in retaliation, so Americans would have to fire back on the Iranians. Good plan.

  50. Barry #20, thanks.

    http://www.rabbisforobama.com/

Getting a “504 gateway timeout”. Site down? I really want to hear what they have to say for themselves.

Many good comments here today. Makes me happy. This crowd knows that the Word of God is true.

I hope someone can find a recent statement from “Rabbis for Obama”, so we can have some inkling of what’s in their heads…’cause it ain’t God’s Word, apparantly.

Was there ever a German equivalent of “Rabbis for Obama?” in the short time before the hell of Shoah?

JerryC #48 great post….indeed, how many more signs do we need…and you forgot to mention the appearance of lights and signs in the sky.

  51. I protested in front of early voting poll with a Jewish gal,a PUMA who was doing major cheerleading for Palin. She kept reminding voters of his middle name….
I was doin birther stuff alongside side her.Not all Jews were so STUPID.
    Tis a shame.

  52. http://jews4barack.com/endorsements/

    Site last updated Nov. 2008.

    Hey, Rabbis! Where’s the follow-up? Accountability – it’s what’s for dessert.

  53. I also agree with a few posters here:

We won’t TOUCH Israel. As with all the others, we – and our military forces – will be broken on that anvil.

  54. Smart Power!

    Obama Backs Down on Sudan

Until he reached the White House, Barack Obama repeatedly insisted that the United States apply more pressure on Sudan so as to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe in Darfur and elsewhere.

Yet, as president, Mr. Obama and his aides have caved, leaving Sudan gloating at American weakness.

  55. Mullen is a military leader. Of course he is not going to give permission for any planes to violate a US established no-fly zone.
He answered the question the only way it could be answered.

Am I the only one that notices the only purpose of this guy’s comments are to criticise the messenger?

  57. Tass,
Israel is an is one of our best allies (or used to be before these clowns took over the White House) Even in a no-fly zone you flat ass don’t shoot down friendly aircraft.

  58. The BO administration has left itself open to an accusation that it is actively involved in fake posts at opposition websites.

    http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/04/18/is-the-obama-administration-behind-an-astroturf-anti-tea-party-website/

“Writing on January 15, 2010, Glenn Greenwald at Salon noted Barack Obama’s new head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Cass Sunstein, had championed creating fake websites and using outside 501(c)(3) interest groups to act as alleged independent champions of government policy and to “cognitively infiltrate” opposition websites, etc.”

Here’s the article from Salon. Glen Greenwald is at this point no fan of the Tea Parties.

    http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/01/15/sunstein

    and here is the paper

    http://labvirus.wordpress.com/2010/01/14/pdf-download-white-paper-by-cass-sunstein-info-czar-conspiracy-theories/

The paper is talking about “concern trolls,” or “sock puppets.”

    +++++++++++++++++++++
    Valerie,

    Nope.

He’s not very subtle, is he?

  61. The Bible say that all nations will rise-up against Israel. That would include the nation run by the Obama regime.

  62. Lets do a thought experiment.
You are the IDF chief of the general staff.
Tel Aviv is a radioactive ruin. Arab armies are attacking from all sides. The second holocaust is commencing.
You decide to employ the Samson option.
Tehran, gone: Aswan Dam gone, bye bye Egypt:
Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, Damascus, Ankara, and a few other sundry cities all gone.
You still have enough bombs left over to do the Job all over again. Do you:
    A. Make the rubble bounce?
    B. Consider the job done?
    C. Go after those complicit in allowing these things to come to pass?
Are there israeli ops plans with targeting data for Moscow, for Beijing or even Washington.
I don’t know, but it’s something to think about.
I believe our Narcissist in Chief may be playing with fire in a truly literal sense.

  63. As a military leader he can not give our general plans of operation up but he could have made a statement about the US concern about a nuclear Iran. That would have thwarted the whole second guessing game. The administration needs to let the world know that we stand for something.

  64. #51 Other Signs of the End Times:

    7 Feasts of God:

4 Spring Feasts (fullfilled by Jesus Christ at his 1st Coming):

    1)Passover;2)Unleavened Bread;3)First Fruits;4)
    Pentecost

3 Fall Feasts (yet to be fullfilled by Jesus):

    5)Trumpets;6)Judgement;7)Tabernacles

On 09/28/08, Eve of Feast of Trumpets (#5), the stock market crashed by the largest points in its history by 777 points! Was God warning us of Judgement (#6) coming?

10 days later on Feast of Judgement (#6), the stock market crashed for the 2nd largest points in its history by 678.91 points! (was He counting toward something as in 6,7,8,9,10?!) Was God warning us, again, of His coming Judgement? Better believe it.

  65. Well whether or not it is God warning us , It is pure fire this administration is playing with.

  66. Who, in his heart, believes Israel would take this final, awful step without there being some other way to save her people?

If you do, you have no ability to discern good from evil. You also, without a doubt, voted for the abomination we have occupying the Oval Office. And support him still today.

Re the list of Rabbis above: “We know him to be a man of incredible integrity, born of a deep and abiding spiritual faith…” Frightening blindness.

Anyone who knew how he handled his early political campaigns knew the man had zero integrity. That he could not be trusted. And that faith business in “…the teachings of the Hebrew Prophets…” Well, obviously, his public mocking of scripture was overlooked. Not to mention…

I pray God forgives our stubborn hearts — our blindness — and that our journey as a nation from the darkness back into the light will not be too painful. This is the reason I’ve concluded we’ve been given the abomination. Only something – or someone – really awful will open our eyes.

Awake, America. It’s not too late to learn what is good.

  67. Prolifer,
    Thanks for the great link.

Even so, Lord Jesus, come quickly!

  68. I have never been caught up in eschatology. Have enough problems walking the walk on a daily basis. But, when one looks around and sees the evil, one can not but believe that this crap can not continue. I love this country, I really do. I have an 80% VA disability rating from Agent Orange exposure. But, I must continually remind myself
that our real citizenship in not here. Nevertheless
it hurts to see this country go willingly down the tubes.

  69. I don’t read Mullen’s comments that way.

He’s being asked to speculate on something that there is no good answer to, like what you would do if you caught your spouse cheating. it’s not a parlor game. Even if he said what some want, that would read “Mullen Okays Strike On Iran” elsewhere.

I support Israel. Obama–meh. But the right answer is “no comment”.

  70. “And I will make of thee [Israel] a great nation and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing; And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:2,3).

  71. for all of those thinking this would be betraying an ally forget about it. israel may be your ally, but it was never obama’s ally. the only nations he considers allies are the one that have been our enemies since 1918.
