What have we wrought?
Illegal immigrants say “Adios” to Arizona.
The AP reported:

Many of the cars that once stopped in the Home Depot parking lot to pick up day laborers to hang drywall or do landscaping now just drive on by.

Arizona’s sweeping immigration bill allows police to arrest illegal immigrant day laborers seeking work on the street or anyone trying to hire them. It won’t take effect until summer but it is already having an effect on the state’s underground economy.

“Nobody wants to pick us up,” Julio Loyola Diaz says in Spanish as he and dozens of other men wait under the shade of palo verde trees and lean against a low brick wall outside the east Phoenix home improvement store.

Many day laborers like Diaz say they will leave Arizona because of the law, which also makes it a state crime to be in the U.S. illegally and directs police to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants.

Supporters of the law hope it creates jobs for thousands of Americans.

“We want to drive day labor away,” says Republican Rep. John Kavanagh, one of the law’s sponsors.

An estimated 100,000 illegal immigrants have left Arizona in the past two years as it cracked down on illegal immigration and its economy was especially hard hit by the Great Recession.

The law is so appalling that seven other states are now talking about passing similar legislation.

Just to be clear…
70% of Arizona voters agree with new immigration legislation signed into law last Friday.
Al Sharpton and Barack Obama disagree.

  1. I just returned from Phoenix. The illegals are leaving but not just because employers will be fined for using illegals, but because the economy is soooo bad there that there is no work for illegals much less Americans who want jobs. Shops and restaurants are closing at a record pace and now a Democrat Hispanic congressman from AZ is asking Americans to boycott AZ thus forcing more people to lose their jobs. What an idiot. That may be redundant because all Dems are idiots.

  2. BYE

  3. Go Arizona! I have written to every lawmaker in Texas demanding the same legislation for us. We are besieged as well!!!

  4. Unfortunately New Mexico isn’t one of those states signing on to pass stricter laws. Not as long as Richardson is Gov.

Many of those illegals leaving Arizona will end up here in NM. And we have too many now.

  5. Yes! It begins…

  6. Enforce immigration law and they will not only leave…they will not come.

  7. “outside the east Phoenix home improvement store.”

Probably, Home Depot, which should be boycotted.

  8. Direct them to the first bus headed to San Francisco!

    —————-
A big part of this AZ law is the intended “self enforcement” aspect. If bordering states capitulate, they’ll be overrun. If bordering states adopt identical legislation, illegals will move on.

  10. Ladue Pundit,

Do you know the story of Richardson? He’s proud of telling how his mother came to CA by train from Mexico to give birth to him and immediately returned. He was raised in Mexico.

No way he is going to sign on to any new legislation. He ignores existing laws.

Can you believe that he wanted to be POTUS?

    Can’t wait for November.

  11. Fine. As we say in Texas, AMFs.

  12. That’s great for AZ, but those people probably aren’t going back to Mexico; they’ll just go to one of the neighboring states. CA needs to pass a similar bill, but as long as the best we can get is a RINO governor, that won’t happen.

  13. Why do I not hear sanctuary city officials calling for the illegals to leave AZ and come to their state.

  14. Can we take up a collection and offer one way tickets to San Fran with maps to the appropriate government offices for housing, welfare, etc.?

    If so, count me in.

  15. Nananana nananana hey hey hey GOOD BYE!

Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on your way out!

    Oh and… stay out!

You know, here illegal immigrants aren’t deported. They try to get asylum. When that is refused and they’re up for deportion they simply… stay and appeal. They can appeal multiple times. Some people have appealed against the deportion more than eight times (that was the worst I’ve heard from Austria, in Germany, however, some people have appealed 12 times and more.) They are still here, locking down our “justice system” (which is a joke anyway), costing us millions and then prompting the radical left AND the Catholic church protesting against deporting them.

The radical left and the Catholic church (represented by the “Caritas” in this case) is demanding that people entering my country have a “Bleiberecht”, meaning that these people, illegal or not, are entitled to stay.

And, of course, are also entitled to get money from the government.

Why do you think all those “illlegals” come to Germany, Austria, the UK, Netherlands, etc, and don’t go to Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, etc? Because we have the welfare state and Poland doesn’t. Even though Poland also has problems already with our dear “treasures” and “cultural enrichers”, the usual suspects, the moosels. Who else?

I never see Indian or Chinese immigrants behave like the mohammedans.

  16. Deportion? How did I make that one up? Deportation of course. Oivech! Shows how hungry I am right now. Low sugar level in the brain = bad!

  17. I think getting them to leave Arizona is the point. Great idea sending them to San Fran. Can we take up a collection and hire some buses?

  18. I agree…ship them all to San Fran, and any other city whose politicians are up in arms. Let them deal with it, and we Americans will boycott the sanctuaries and allow them to turn poverty-stricken and crime-infested.

Give them the little cockroaches they want to protect.

  19. Chicago will welcome them, crime will skyrocket, services will strain. BOHICA.

  20. “Great idea sending them to San Fran.”

We don’t need to send them to San Fran. We need to send them to Beverly Hills and the Upper East Side. We need them cheek by jowl with the politico-elite capitalist classes who are destroying our schools, neighborhoods, and health care system by refusing to enforce immigration law.

The Left wants their votes, and the Right wants their cheap labor. The Republican Party could take back the labor vote forever if it would simply and clearly oppose non-essential immigration in order to secure full employment for American workers. Not a surgeon? Don’t apply. Not a PhD in Nuclear Physics? Sorry, Senor. We have American workers who need to put food on the table. Why can’t we co-opt the language of the Left to our advantage? They own Labor, though most workers don’t agree with Democrat politics on everything but labor issues. Workers agree with Republicans on most social issues, but feel that the party won’t protect their contracts and benefits. How about letting them know that immigration is killing off even union jobs like the Black Plague? Show them how wages are declining in almost every category where immigrants compete for jobs with American citizens? Talk about the number of Americans walking around with EE and CS degrees who are joining the ranks of the long-term unemployed because of immigration? All the while Gates and Job and Ellison build more mansions, buy more jet planes, and put more Chateau Latour and DRC down in the cellar for when the President comes to visit.

Reducing immigration both legal and illegal will put every American to work at better wages. That’s a platform that can still win elections. Once we amnesty 20 million illegals, it will fall on deaf ears. They’ll simply vote more and more amnesties until America is consumed. The idiots running the Republican party don’t seem to understand that these illegals are NEVER going to vote Republican in a zillion years. They are going to vote their racial interests in one huge block….forever! But the coward party won’t even bring it up because they fear the “Racism” charge so desperately. Why can’t we stand up and say, “If wanting American workers to have good jobs is racist, then I am racist.” If wanting our schools to succeed is racist, then I am racist. If wanting to enforce the law is racist, then we are racists. If protecting our health care system is racist, then we are racists.”?

  21. A list of AZ firms to BUY-cott and SF firms to Boycott can be found in this post: “Money will come when you are doing the right thing.”

  22. I see devastation, the horrid specter of liberals doing their own yard work. Of acres of unmown, unkempt grass.

Empty, silent emergency waiting rooms where once lively international conversations took place in the crowded atmosphere of sharing. Doctors and nurses milling around aimlessly, forced to spend extra time with those few patients remaining.

    Can Arizona survive?

  23. AMF

  24. Over at Redstate I pointed out, as I have here, the problems with the law. I was jumped by one commentator as being racist, because I saw unfair inequities in the law against the Hispanics. Weird…

Anyway, I posted the reasons at my site, but I also actually liked the idea of the illegals leaving because of the law. It is a perfect application without the threat of civil lawsuit. The law isn’t even on the books yet, so no harm done, and anyone that leaves does so along the same lines as rich people leaving N.J. when the taxes went up- with their own free will.

Still I read the statute and have some serious reservations.

  25. I would boycott Mexican food but it’s soo soo good. Taco’s, goat stew, chimichangas, tabasco sauce. And that Patron. My god I love Patron…

  26. “Horror of All Horrors… Illegal Immigrants Threaten to Leave Arizona Over New Immigration Law”

    ….Pinkie swear!?!

  27. Oh, this is shocking. A “law” actually having the desired effect. Where will this treachery end? The real rule of law in action is almost too much to take…

In Wisconsin, it was suggested that since most Sex ed education is actually Sex ed training, and we are training minors to engage in acts that are illegal for minors to engage in, perhaps we can prosecute sex ed trainers, er teachers, er, whatever they really are on contributing to deliquency charges.

  28. For years the wife and I have went to Algodones Mexico for our dental and eye care needs. We have also recommended and went to Algodones with relatives and friends.

But now that the president of Mexico has issued a boycott Arizona, so no mas.

Also around here in the Tri-state area on the Colorado River there is numerous Mexican owned and operated Mexican eateries. These too we will be boycotting.

As Basha’s in Needles CA is the closest grocery store, we shopped there. That too will be stopped, as well as any other shopping in CA. nor will we be visiting friends in CA. I will be damned if we give one cent of tax revenue to CA.

  29. Many in New York City are advocating a boycott of Arizona Iced Tea. Only problem is that AIT is bottled on Long Island.

  30. They should head west. California’s just teeming with the kind of libturds who fight for the “rights” of illegals. Surely, they’ll be welcomed there by them with open arms.

Are libtards really that stupid? Omg! LMAO!

  32. The illegals are leaving AZ because no one will hire them?!?!

    Pobrecitos…

  33. The illegal aliens are like roaches in a dark room. Turn on the light and they scatter into the next room. Let’s get this straight, it’s illegal to pass a law that makes it illegal to break the law?? This kind of convoluted crap is only possible in the psychotic, drug addled world of the liberal/progressive…… After all, who ever heard of making it illegal to break the law (sarc off)

  34. oh no! What will Arizona do without illegal imigrants?!!! HORROR.
