The doctor will see you now (if you are not an Obama supporter)…

Florida libs are upset with Dr. Jack Cassell for posting an anti-Obama sign in his window. The sign asks patients who voted for Obama to go elsewhere.
The Florida Sentinel reported:
A doctor who considers the national health-care overhaul to be bad medicine for the country posted a sign on his office door telling patients who voted for President Barack Obama to seek care “elsewhere.”
“I’m not turning anybody away — that would be unethical,” Dr. Jack Cassell, 56, a Mount Dora urologist and a registered Republican opposed to the health plan, told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday. “But if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it.”
The sign reads: “If you voted for Obama … seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your healthcare begin right now, not in four years.”
Estella Chatman, 67, of Eustis, whose daughter snapped a photo of the typewritten sign, sent the picture to U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, the Orlando Democrat who riled Republicans last year when he characterized the GOP’s idea of health care as, “If you get sick, America … Die quickly.”
Chatman said she heard about the sign from a friend referred to Cassell after his physician recently died. She said her friend did not want to speak to a reporter but was dismayed by Cassell’s sign.
“He’s going to find another doctor,” she said.
Cassell may be walking a thin line between his right to free speech and his professional obligation, said William Allen, professor of bioethics, law and medical professionalism at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine.
Allen said doctors cannot refuse patients on the basis of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability, but political preference is not one of the legally protected categories specified in civil-rights law. By insisting he does not quiz his patients about their politics and has not turned away patients based on their vote, the doctor is “trying to hold onto the nub of his ethical obligation,” Allen said.
“But this is pushing the limit,” he said.
Cassell, who has practiced medicine in GOP-dominated Lake County since 1988, said he doesn’t quiz his patients about their politics, but he also won’t hide his disdain for the bill Obama signed and the lawmakers who passed it.
UPDATE: Here’s the rest of the story….
Just thought you might want to know this – I just added the following comment to your post:“What the Orlando Sentinel & local TV stations aren’t telling you all is that the woman who complained to Rep. Alan Grayson, Estella Chatman, is President of the Tri-City Branch NAACP.
http://www.flcourts.org/gen_public/family/diversity/bin/FairnessDiversityReport.pdf
Now is the media hoopla making a little more sense?
Of course Ms. Chatman has constant contact with hate-mongerer, race-baiter, Obama-lovin’ Grayson. Perfect opportunity for the lapdog media to shoot the story about the poor, oppressed Obama voters being shunted out of medical care because of the heartless Republican doctor.

Stinking Man, here’s the hippocratic oath. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=20909 Nowhere does it state that doctors are required to treat those who’ve labored against them.
Oh, and about your comment #11, once again you prove you’re an idiot.
Firstly, states, not the Fed, require car owners to carry liability insurance on their cars. Never before have citizens been required by the Fed govt to purchase any service or product.
Secondly, it’s the car, not the driver, that must be insured for any damage caused by that car. Full coverage on the car is optional (although most lein holders, not the Fed, require it). Those who don’t own cars aren’t required to carry auto liability insurance, even if they are licensed drivers, and even if they drive someone else’s car. Therefore, not every licensed driver, and certainly not every citizen, is required to purchase auto liability insurance.
Thirdly, and most importantly, those who don’t want to carry auto liability insurance as well as those who can’t afford to carry auto liability insurance can choose not to own a car. Owning a car is a privilege and no one is forced by law to own one, therefore no one is forced by law to carry auto liability insurance unless they own a car.
(Anyone who can’t afford to carry liability insurance on a car would be wise to opt out of owning a car as they sure as hell can’t afford to pay for any damage that may be caused by a car. For that matter, they most likely can’t afford gas, maintenance and repairs, either. So, bottom line is that anyone who can’t afford to carry liability insurance on a car can’t afford to own a car. That sucks but at least they won’t be fined for not carrying auto liability insurance on cars they don’t own.)

I think it’s absolutely outrageous that the government thinks it can require us to have health insurance. What’s next? A requirement that we have automobile insurance?
———–
Your sarcasm is wasted here, because your logic is flawed. You can choose not to own or drive a car, and instead take public transportation, ride a bike, or walk (wow, two of those would make this country a lot healthier, wouldn’t they?).
You cannot control the conception that leads to your existence, and you are saddled with the burden of health insurance solely for being alive. Your choice becomes: end your life, or buy health insurance, or pay the fine. Too bad you weren’t aborted, right?
When you are born, you are not mandated to purchase auto insurance simply because you live and breathe. You are, however, mandated to purchase health insurance. AND, if the mandate stands, there is no limit to what the government can require you to purchase, for any reason they deem necessary.
JKB commented:
AuntieMadder,
Re your #28, I applaud your efforts to do away with this red herring of auto insurance. However, you make a couple of errors in your argument.
First off, owning a car is not a privilege, it is a choice. One may own a car and operate it without registration, operator license or liability insurance upon your own property or the private property of another person or corporation with permission. If you choose to take that vehicle onto the public highway or byway, then for safety reasons, you must demonstrate a basic level of operating skill and knowledge of traffic rules, your license may be revoked if you demonstrate a tendency to be a greater danger to other drivers and you must procure through insurance the financial means to cover any liability the operation of the vehicle might inadvertently incur. Let’s put aside the reality that government has imposed a periodic fee to renew your license and also used license renewal denial as a punitive measure for non-vehicle related fee extraction such as library fines. Any good idea will be exploited to extract money above and beyond the good part of the idea.
The only comparable healthcare insurance mandate would be, if one wanted to mingle with the public, to require the carryinng medical liability insurance that covered liability incurred by exposing others to infectious agents such as colds, flu, HIV, herpes, hepatitis, TB, etc.
Or we could go the other way and require all individuals who drive, ride or otherwise use autos to carry full liability, comprehensive, collision, towing, etc., as well as, coverage that paid for routine maintenance, detailing, gas treatments, etc.
Andreas K. commented:
The oath basically states that you must not do harm. Basically, a doctor performing abortions is violating this oath. Massively violating it.

At the end of the Obama Democrat day, you are going to have way less money in your pocket, and less choice in healthcare, less choice at the auto dealerships, less choice at the supermarket, less jobs to find as producers go out of business. And states are in budget crisis from spending too much, BEFORE all this hit, so ALL state taxes are going up and new ones are being added.
Gas is going up, electricity is going up, heating oil up, all because of MORE TAXES, not the actual costs of the products.

The blue collar workers of America who didn’t go to any college have done more for the Third World than any college grad with a degree in “development.” They’ve built roads, strung electrical lines, grew the crop surpluses so starving people could eat for humanitarian aid, transported the crops, medicines and supplies by truck, train, boat and plane.

American Medical Association’s Code of Ethics.
Section 9.012:
“Under no circumstances should physicians allow their differences with patients or their families about political matters to interfere with the delivery of high-quality professional care.”
I’m just sayin’…

Good for Dr. Cassell. More of this is on the way, trust me. We doctors are boiling mad and intend to sabotage Obamacare. Obama will have to either enslave us or import Turd World witch doctors to make his program stick.

Mad enough to violate the AMA code of ethics? Boy, I’m surprised that someone as intelligent as you doctors has such a hard time accepting that you live in a majority rule republic, and you aren’t always going to get your way. But I guess if you are comfortable disregarding the code of ethics, you don’t think you need to follow the Constitution either.

……..
The Constitution provides for the PROTECTION of the minority in a majority. You are stating an arbitrary and partisan threat that is grossly Un-Constitutional.
You’ve lived very, very very well in a very very very safe country made possible by tremendous free will human cooperation at all levels of society and now you want to deny your neighbors what they provided you, but you were too self-centered to realize?
It wasn’t YOU who gave up the easy life to be in school for ten years, studying hard, not slacking, long hours, and supervised on-the-job training before ever getting a first paycheck, of which a good chunk was used to start paying of ff that huge debt. Then the risks and MORE DEBT of starting a business, renting office space, buying equipment, hiring staff with a payroll, and one by one getting clients and giving them the best experience possible so they would STAY clients. YEARS and YEARS of work.
So the thugs who ran away from such hard work are going to read the proclamation of “you lost, I won” to such people to accept an eviceration of their entire life’s work, just because greedy lazy people want all that talent, investment and hard work to jump when they snap their fingers and demand such highly skilled service for cheap?
How’s the doctor supposed to pay for his staff? The rent, the equipment, the taxes, if the government won’t allow him to be paid fairly for his or her services?
The Democrats just run off, no answers for that – and don’t teach history so people won’t have the plain examples of massive failure of every single Socialist state ever constructed on the planet. The centralized governments always fail, so they end up beating people, blaming them for the collapse caused by the egotistical planners’ incompetence, for not being “pure enough.”

Don’t be such a drama queen, Wanumba. It’s just health insurance. If you think it’s unconstitutional, we have a system for testing that. If you think it’s a bad idea, well… your side lost that debate. Sorry, but that’s how it works sometime in a free country.
BTW, if you’re suggesting I don’t know how to work hard for little money and plan for the future, let me just tell you that you’re barking up the wrong tree.

62% of bankruptcies are Medical bill related.

Pull your head out people, something has to happen to fix our broken healthcare system. Got an idea?
