Demacrook Rangel Smears DC Protesters; Compares Them to Racist Groups During Civil Rights Movement

Demacrook Charlie Rangel (D-NY) told reporters at NY1 that the tea party patriots were just like the groups that attacked blacks during the civil rights movement.

NY1 has the transcript:
“The group that were in Washington fighting against the health bill and fighting against the President, looked just like and sounded just like those groups that attacked the civil rights movement in the South.”
Of course, several videos of the incident revealed there was no racial attack by the DC tea party protesters. Not even a reward offer of $100,000 has helped produce any proof of a racist incident.
Rep. Rangel needs to apologize as do the racist Black Caucus members who fabricated this story.

I’m surprised that people don’t seem to understand the real motive behind remarks such as these and why they will continue, true or not. Democrats understand (although they won’t talk about it) that Obama won only because of Black turnout. Whites voted 53 to 47 percent against him. By accusing their opponents of racism, Democrats hope to rile up Blacks so they will come out to vote in large numbers in November.

They live there, they die there, they’re stuck in the 60′s and they can’t let go. Even Clinton and Obama have to pretend they’re Kennedys. I suspect Democrats understand that those opposed to their policies will, in any case, turn out in large numbers. They have to get the their base electorate equally motivated to vote. They probably believe their attacks are succeeding as, I believe, recent polls have shown an upswing in enthusiasm among registered Democrats. Criticism of their take-no-prisoners assault on anti-Obama people is coming exclusively from those who would not under any circumstances support them. I do not foresee a toning down of their rhetoric never mind an apology for what we know are false accusations.

You’re absolutely correct, DC. The polls I’ve seen show a 5% increase in Democrat enthusiasm in the past week. But interestingly — and this was what prompted my earlier post — those same polls show a 4% increase in Republican enthusiasm over the same time period. So it looks like it’ll be a race to see who gets riled up most by the Dems’ lies.

The theory on hoping to maximize black turn out doesn’t hold much water for a mid term. Most black reps are in safe districts and even in 2010 are not going to break a sweat in their races. Maybe a couple Senate races will hinge on black turnout but I doubt this is a key strategic matter for most races.
The focus on November is the swing districts characterized by exurbs and suburbs. They lean center right but voted center left since 2006. If you cannot get people to vote for you, your next choice is to keep them at home. The dems have pretty much given up on convincing people in these districts to vote for them because they like their policies so you go to plan B
The charges of extremism and racism are orchestrated and aimed at discouraging contributions, decreasing turn out and separating independents from Republicans by essentially branding any voter supporting a Republican as a social pariah, bigot and/or terrorist.
Carville & Co. pretty much spelled this out 4 months back. One leg of the strategy is to show TP supporters as terrorists and “crazy” birthers (you had a fake Harris poll pushed this week by the WH and MSM, BO himself whining about the “core beliefs” of the TP including questioning his citizenship and Michigan “militia” members rounded up in a high profile raid that is somehow shown to be tied to the TP.

The reason the Democrats are making a CONCERTED effort to smear the Tea Party as racist is to motivate their BLACK BASE top vote in large numbers/high % this November.
One of the key reasons Obama won was because of a high black turnout and they need blacks to vote in order to have any shot at holding the House and even maybe the Senate.
