However by giving police probable cause, they can’t really claim to be profiled.

Today I watched Alan Colmes on FOX explain that this law is terrible because it denies protection for a minority. If there’s a domestic violence incident, for example, the victim won’t call for fear of being required to provide proof of citizenship…
So, let me get this straight. If I call am a complaining witness to report a crime against me, I have to show Id. That’s because, among other things, a person accused of a crime has a right to know who has accused him.
Mr. Colmes wants to give illegal aliens the right to anonymously accuse other people of crimes.
That’s not “protection of a minority,” that’s violating the rights of the accused.

The new Arizona Immigration enforcement Law is NOT going to turn Hispanics away from the Republican Party, like some pundits are speculating.
Let me just state some observations that I have noticed in Arizona:
1. Arizonans do not refer to legal Hispanic citizens as “legals”. They are “Americans” like every other legal citizen.
2. Many of the American citizens in Arizona, that are of Hispanic descent, are against illegal-immigration for the same reasons that the other majority of Americans are against it. These Americans are politically savvy enough to know why they are Democrat or Republican, and it is NOT about racism; it is about the rule of law and protecting “American interests”.
3. ALL of the people who are for illegal-immigration are DEMOCRATS that are never going to vote for a Republican anyway. The Republican Party cannot lose support they did not have in the first place, and never would have had.
4. Al Sharpton, Obama, Janet Napolitano, and others are trying to convince Hispanic Americans that this new law is racist, and therefore they should not vote for any Republican. Hispanic Americans are plenty smart enough to know that the Democrat party considers them “disadvantaged”, while the Republican party considers them “equal”.
There is no American that now doubts that President Obama, and the rest of his administration has been the biggest mistake our country has ever made, entrusting a power hungry group of radical progressives to the White House. Bush had many problems, but this is much, much worse.
There is no way Obama is going to be able fool the American people by spinning this issue in the Democrats favor, When the future of America is at stake in the next two election cycles.
Obama admitted it early on that he was okay with being a one-term President. He knew there is no way the American people would elect him to a second term after seeing what kind of “change” he was really about.

I have a personal story about this issue. I’ve known a woman who is here illegally, she brought her husband over the border to see a doctor and they stayed. They have been here for at least 15 years. I asked her recently, through an interpreter as she hasn’t learned english, if she was afraid if Arizona passed this law. Yes was the answer. I asked, why don’t you start the process of becoming a citizen? You’ve been her 15 years. The answer: it takes too long, its too involved – time wise and you have to pay an immigration lawyer, and they’re thinking about going back home to Mexico where she has a son who is a citizen of the USA and is married to a mexican woman who is trying to gain citizenship. Her son in Mexico is a teacher and her daughter in law is a doctor.
When I heard all this, all I could come away with was the idea that she had only stayed for the free healthcare, and that she had no intention of learning the language and did not want to become a citizen unless a magic wand was waved and she became one without any effort.
I was so saddened.

In the rare instance I have travelled outside of my beloved USA, I had to have my passport and I had to have it with me AT ALL TIMES just in case. Did I feel like I was being ‘profiled”? Linda Greenhouse, the former New York Times Supreme Court correspondent had an op-ed on the Arizona immigration law based on the wrong version of the bill.
She waxed eloquent in her denunciation of the Senate version, focusing on the part that was not enacted.
