ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis Praises Socialism, Bashes Conservatives at Socialist Youth Conference (Video)

Over 150 youth and student activists gathered at Norman Thomas High School in New York City from March 5-7, 2010. Young Democratic Socialists (YDS) activists and progressive youth converged to discuss how to amplify left-wing pressure on the establishment. These young radicals came from Texas, Indiana to Kansas, Florida, Rhode Island, Oregon and more.
Bertha Lewis spoke at the Winter Conference of the Young Democratic Socialists in March. The ACORN CEO praised socialism and attacked conservatives in her talk.

Last summer, the Young Democratic Socialists voted to make “Free Higher Education” a national priority. It’s the next “human right” that democratic-socialists will want you to pay for.
ACORN is the largest radical leftist group in America today.
This radical group worked closely with the Obama camp during the election but, the community organizing group was not open about the relationship. The photo below was scrubbed from the ACORN website before the election:
One of Barack Obama’s first big “community organizer” jobs involved ACORN in 1992. He worked along side ACORN before he became an elected official. Obama also trained ACORN employees. He represented ACORN in court. Obama worked with and protested with ACORN. His campaign donated $800,000 to ACORN in 2008 for voter registration efforts.
And, ACORN even canvassed for Obama in 2008.
In 2009 Obama promoted a top ACORN operative, Patrick Gaspard, who’s organization was fined $775,000 for election violations, to a top post in the White House. Gespard is helping shape domestic policy today.
Barack Obama was not honest about his relationship with ACORN during the 2008 election.

I’d like to see a breakdown by race of that 47 percent who pay no taxes, but that’s a stat we’ll never see.

We don’t need more higher education in this country. What we need is a proliferation of easily-available, short-term, self-selected, high-quality adult education.
With the Internet, computers, cell phones and video equipment so widespread, plus services already in place that can deliver instruction, we have the pieces to make an unparalleled University available to anybody, including the poorest people (all our libraries have computers, now).
The biggest problem would be quality assurance in the presentations. Wikipedia has not yet solved this problem.
But it could be done, and showcase the best the country has to offer, and made available to everyone, cost free or nearly so, like any other government publication.
Have the government certify a core curriculum, and offer yearly awards for “Best xxxxx” or a seal of approval, or perhaps a copyright with a right to charge a minimal charge per download.

What I was trying to say but did not convey is that if she had all the answers to the economical and financial problems our country faces, she certainly can’t point back to her previous failed attempt at running ACORN. It’s in the crapper and insolvent…she shouldn’t be in a position to be instructing anyone. Perhaps she should sit down and shut up??

Go to the African National Congress youth league home page and you will find a reference to The nationalization of South Africas mineral resources presented at a April 12 youth conference. Takeover by the gov’t of private industry is deliberate and follows a deliberate process that well describes what is happing in Washington today. Darrell Issa (R-CA) Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and Judiciary Committee Member released the following statement on the U.S. Court of Appeals Second Circuit decision to stay the December 2009 injunction by Clinton-appointed Judge Nina Gershon that the Congressional funding ban on the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) was unconstitutional. As a result, as the U.S. Court of Appeals further reviews the case, the Congressional funding ban will go back into effect, and ACORN will not receive taxpayer dollars.

The people who are always praising socialism are those that benefit from its power structure. Once the common folk are stripped of their property and freedom, they suddenly wise up as to the perils of socialism, albeit too late. The problem with learning from history is that history is not being taught, not the its proper extent, and therefore the past disasters are not addressed or taught. I would agree with Valerie’s comment, with the exception the government should no longer be in a role of certifying anything. Voluntary organizations and professional organizations work best and there are many examples.
