Sarah Palin Tries Out a Double McTwist 1260 on Leno (Video)

Sarah Palin tried her hand at standup comedy last night on Leno. Her Double McTwist 1260 joke was a hit:
But, a great show tonight, Shaun White is on the show. Oh, what an amazing athlete! I watched him do a Double McTwist 1260, and the only other people to do a Double McTwist 1260 was last week — the White House, on health care.

Sarah Palin: Thank you, Jay. Thank you. Thank you. I am so happy to get to be here. This is the thrill of a lifetime, really. And Alaska, being so different from Los Angeles — here when people have a frozen look on their face, I find out it’s Botox.

It is so beautiful here, though, so warm and beautiful. Back home, oh, it was freezing. It was 5 degrees below Congress’ approval rating.

But a great show tonight, Shaun White is on the show. Oh, what an amazing athlete! I watched him do a Double McTwist 1260, and the only other people to do a Double McTwist 1260 was last week — the White House, on health care.

It will be great to be on the same show as Shaun White. Last time I was this close to the Flying Tomato was when someone threw one at me at a book signing. And they did, it’s true.

How do you not love this woman. It takes courage and an extra dose of class to do stand up comedy and not be self-conscious or look like you have two left feet. Not the funniest thing but clever, sharp and witty. She is an American, all the way. The more I see her the more real she is. I am coming to realize she more and more represents the American woman. Love you Sarah, you get ‘em girl.

I’m torn on this bit. Does it diminish her (to the degree that, in the minds of those who aren’t already supporters, she CAN be “diminished”)?
I recall Clinton’s saxophone playing. He, like most politicians, was attempting to “humanize” himself so that the little people would relate.
Palin has the opposite problem. Most of those who don’t like her already consider her to be one of the unwashed mass. She needs to do things which might give them some reason to believe that she’s not an intellectual vacuum. Not sure how a stand-up routine effects that.
But, who knows. It was a good appearance, overall. She showed poise and wit in her interview. Don’t see how it could have hurt her…

Kudos to Leno for giving her a reasonably fair and lighthearted forum. I loved the way she quickly counted off the things (who, what, where, why) journalists are supposed to be focused on, or at least were “back in the day.”

It strikes me that nothing she says, or does, will penetrate their “intellectual vacuum”.
They continue to “misunderestimate” her, the science is settled, Obama=smart, Palin=/=smart, it’s their badge of post-racial, vrai-feminist sophistication.
Imagine the shocked outrage when she serves moose meat at her inauguration….

Sarah Palin is smart–she has seen the polls and knows that she is only the Mad Hatter of the Tea Party and won’t get elected as a Republican. As long as she keeps crossing the country and speaks to small town America and doesn’t say that she is NOT running for office in 2012, she has power to keep getting speaking engagements at $100,000 a pop and can continue raking in her one million dollars per month. She is all for the money–stand up comedy and talk shows will give her big money and public recognition and nobody will challenge her about her lack of knowledge or experience. She is open to trying different ways to get the big money and public attention that she craves–politics cannot compete with the doors that God is having her open: He has sent her to do Las Vegas shows next! Palin has such a huge staff of publicity agents and public relations people who can supply her with the comedy lines and look for Diva Roles–she doesn’t even have to worry about whether or not she is even telling the truth. Hollywood here she comes!!!

Poor Carla, not humble enough to admit her own biased ignorance about Sarah, she does manage to explain to us that not only is Sarah smart but she lacks knowledge and experience. Once again, it’s obvious to anyone who does not resort to selective logic that Sarah has and had more experience than Odogma who NEVER held any executive positions. And as to knowledge, well once again anyone who does not engage in selective logic can readily see that Odogma’s “knowledge” has accomplished zilch. Particularly when it comes to foreign policy. At this time, Palin is a private citizen, not a sitting president or even a candidate for prez. Her book is still selling well, too. Between the book, giving the keynote speech for the Tea Party convention, and recently signing a contract with Fox News, she’s still a relevant celebrity even though she’s no longer holding political office. Therefore, her appearance on Leno’s show doesn’t diminish her. In fact, appearances like that are to be expected.
I thoroughly enjoyed her interview and her shot at stand up comedy. And Seansie, even straight women like myself notice her stunning good looks.
