If this is true, this will be the end of the Blue Dog myth.

FireDogLake reported tonight that Pelosi and Rep. Bart Stupak made a deal in order to secure his vote.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has made a deal with Rep. Bart Stupak in order to secure his vote and that of other anti-choice Democrats for the health care bill, which is scheduled to be voted on this Sunday. According to a member of Congress who was briefed on the matter, Pelosi has agreed to let Stupak have a vote on his amendment either before or after the House votes to pass the Senate bill. It instructs the Senate to substitute the language in his amendment for the Senate language on abortion.
FDL has obtained a copy of the concurrent resolution (PDF1, PDF2, PDF3, PDF4), which includes cosponsors Marion Berry, Sanford Bishop, Joseph Cao, Kathy Dahlkemper, Steve Driehaus, Marcy Kaptur, Dan Lipinski, Alan Mollohan, and Nick Rahall. A second source confirms that with the exception of Cao, these are the members of Congress who are still on the fence. Cao is still considered a firm “no” vote.
The deal calls for Stupak to have a vote on his amendment either before or after the House votes to confirm the Senate bill on Sunday. Stupak is confident that he has the votes to pass the measure, and is happy to have the vote after the House passes the Senate bill. He believes that by using a “tie bar” approach, his amendment would be “tied” to the health care bill — which would require just 51 votes in the Senate.
Pro-choice members of the House, however, are demanding that the vote on the Concurrent Resolution happen before the House confirms the Senate bill. If in fact it passes, they plan to vote against confirming the Senate bill. They want Rep. Diana Degette to release the names of the 41 cosigners to her letter who pledged to vote against any bill that restricts a woman’s right to choose, and they are angry that the White House has been whipping to push through the Stupak deal.
Stupak flashback: Remember when “pro-life” Bart Stupak held his town hall last year and said that he’d vote for Obamacare even if it funded abortion?
“If everything I want [is] in the final bill, I like everything in the bill except you have public funding for abortion, and we had a chance to run our amendment and we lost. OK, I voted my conscience, stayed true to my principles, stayed true to the beliefs of this district, could I vote for healthcare? Yes I still could.”
Maybe Stupak has just been playing this whole time? Could he really be this cunning and deceptive?
We will know more tomorrow at 11AM EST when Stupak holds his press conference.

These so called “blue dog” Democrats really think they’re going to be free and clear this November.
What these mangy mutts don’t understand is that we follow what they do, take names, email the information to others, and we have a long term memory called “bookmark”.
November can’t come soon enough.
Peggy commented:
Why would Stupak not insist that his vote precede the vote on the Senate bill? This is a very terrible deal for him. It won’t pass in the Senate, either. I can only pray that the angry pro-abort femi-nazis are numerous enough to kill the bill.
Boo, Bart!!!!
Let us hope and pray that the USCCB doesn’t voice anything like approval of this. Just stay quiet bishops.
opaobie commented:
None of this matters. Once the “Demon” Pass vote is taken, the Senate version goes straight to Obama for signature, and it becomes law…unconstitutional law, but law none the less. There will not be a need to send anything back to the Senate, they have already passed it.

Good-bye America, I’m sad to say we may not win this.
How silly. Our forefathers faced far worse conditions when they fought for their freedom from the British.
The Romanians faced far worse than us, but they rose up in 1989 and took on tanks and helicopter gunships with their bare hands.
Here’s what’ll happen if this passes: The electorate will throw out an unprecedented number of Democrats, giving the GOP the power to repeal this and then override Obama’s veto. Why? Because it’s gone much further than the issue of health care.
The American people are so angry that they will teach the government a lesson that neither party will ever forget, and that lesson is “You work for us.” The American people aren’t kidding around. The Democrats believe that we’ll all go back to sleep, or forget our anger, or forgive them, or not care. This is total self-delusion.
The American people spoke firmly about illegal immigration four years ago, and that attitude hasn’t changed. Four years is an eternity in our culture, but we’re as opposed to amnesty today as we were in 2006. We’ve held firm.
Obama and the Democrats will permanently change the culture of our country. We will become permanently opposed to big government.
The true fight is just beginning, and the American way of life will win in the end, because we are simply not as dysfunctional as our politicians. They are sick, vapid, dishonest, childish people. Most of us are not.
This is the American rebirth, not the end. Just watch. In November we’ll all be laughing at how afraid some of us were, for no reason at all.

The sane Dems are gone, or are called Rino’s and are in the Republican party now.
Not ALL politicians are like this. There are some on our side without a core like Grahamnesty but there are many more politicians with an ‘R’ behind their name who DO have a strong principled core and WILL not fold when the pressure is on. We can’t forget this come November. We don’t want a third party or we will see more of this crap for the next six years or more.

Read the wording of the new Stupak Amendment:
Upon enactment of this H.Con.Res. by the House, the bill immediately falls to a Presentment Clause constitutional challenge. It fails a plain reading of Article I. It fails legal precedent as established in Marshall Field.
I find it implausible that all involved parties do not understand this reality. Thus, either:
a) Pelosi is playing games with Stupak, and will double-cross him,
b) Stupak is playing games with his constituents, knowing that his “deal” will never get enacted, or
c) both

My concern is, given that the libs know this, they’ll begin to generate “republican” and even “conservative” candidates to run in “opposition” to those D’s, and people will vote for the R out of angry reflex, knowing little or nothing about them, thus never realizing they’re putting another D in office who is labeled R.
Any way we can avoid this? Any real way we can tackle and inform on this possibility on the scale that will be required.

OK, last night on Greta’s show, she had an interview that she had with Stupak at the end of the day in his office. He said at that time there was no language that would allow him to vote. He said in the interview that he would have a press conference today. I don’t think he is the kind of person who if he had made an agreement with San Fran Nan at that time he would say something different to Greta.
At that time, there was something said about him being under incredible pressure. I read somewhere that he wasn’t the only person being harrassed. His family was being harrassed as well.
He may have made some kind of agreement between the time Greta interviewed him and that article was written, but as of the end of the work day yesterday, there was no agreement.

Yes to your history lesson. Different culture, different times. That said, I agree that the dems have kicked the ant hill this time with both feet. It is that they are acting in madness, crazed by their desire to grab power. This exposes them for who they are. And now many, many people who never paid attention before are frightened of them.
Seriously, their spokesperson is Pelosi who embodies traits of the “Queen of Hearts” and the worst date you’ve ever had, you know, the one that keeps calling and has a “special room” covered with your pictures and locks of your hair….
I saw this coming years ago. I didn’t really understand who these people were, only that they existed. In a year that problem has taken care of itself between listening to half-crazed but on point Beck and reading about Mao.
Like many of you know, I wrote about this period of time thirteen years ago and decided to publish the novel last year. (www.revoltthebook.com)
Remember the left worked hard and stayed focused to get to this point in history. They spent forty years creating stupid people, unaware of their heritage, their history, their duty as citizens. Take a look around and you know I’m right. The left created a dependency class- retired, old, welfare, SS, Medicare. Many of these people are called by communists “useful idiots” because they are unaware that their support and their actions actually promote the left’s agenda. (AARP anyone?)
In the media, the left has done the same thing. Honestly, in a real world would MSNBC allow hosts like Matthews, Olbermann and others to stay on the air with their rating? No. But there they are. In the novel (quickly becoming a history text) I surmised to have a successful takeover of the nation the media has to go along. I was right. The only thing Obama and the left made a mistake on was not controlling ALL aspects of the media before they jumped, but it was a matter of timing for them. They are in the process of doing it, as is Chavez (who made the same mistake), it was that this opening was brief. Imagine a healthcare debate where there was not Internet, talk radio or FOX…
The other base the left has created is government workers and government supported unions. Both are big blocs and both will be loyal to those who pay them, or pay them off. But as you can see in Greece, that only works until, as Margaret Thatcher aptly put it, you run out of other people’s money.
This system you are seeing put in place is called “European statism” or some like to call it “Administrative Government”, same thing basically. It is system where a thin strata of elites control both large companies, unions and the government. They hop back and forth between those places making money or controlling policy. Only their families, their friends, and those educated in an accepted fashion are allow in the game. The rest of the people are drones, sources of revenue, batteries in the Matrix if you will. Through limited access and crushing taxes, those drones will never be allowed on top. Ever. The elites are supported by a vast bureaucracy that guarantees their return to power (NHS in Britain for example). It is brilliant in its concept.
Here in my post I try to outline the new “battlefield”. I am convinced, like you, there is going to be civil disobedience. Already someone threw a brick through Slaughter’s window at her local office.
Even with all their planning the left has made one basic error in judgment. They forgot we are not Russians, Europeans or Chinese. We do not have thousands of years of indentured servitude bred into our DNA. In fact, we are quite the opposite. Our nation’s DNA, our citizens’ DNA is based on the desire for freedom and free will. You can hurt us, but I don’t believe you can crush us.
How the left thinks they can do this and walk away unscathed is beyond me.
But then again, I believe they are quite mad.

You are correct on all points, but forget one that affects both sides… They are afraid. You see, they have known for a long time what many Americans are just now waking up to. We’re broke. The amount of money needed to fund the huge mandates which help guarantee politicians re-election is gone. Has been gone for a long time.
The only way they keep you asleep and them in power is to find new funding for old programs. All you are seeing is a robbery. They are stealing cash from you, in taxes and fees, and are going to steal the cash out of the medical industry, which amounts to trillions of dollars. That money will be used to pay for all their current projects and then another IOU will replace it, thus kicking the can down the road a little farther. Some hope to retire before the ultimate Ponzi scheme collapses. You notice, some already have. I wrote about this as a motivation for one Senator to back the rogue President in my book. I knew this was what it was about in 1997.
To call it insane that we allow or even think of allowing politicians to pick our pocket with one hand and put the same money back in the other pocket, all the while demanding credit for the effort, is an understatement. Like I said, one of the good things that came out of the recession was that the veil of illusion that covers this trick has been pulled back. You know now they are lying. Obama is up to claiming 3,000 percent reduction in premiums, to the applause of his loyal followers. We know better, we are awake.
His plan to rob you, your kids and your grandkids in exchange for lies and inevitable broken promises is out in the open, and NOBODY but the kool-aid drinking fools and his buddies are buying it.
It is over, which is why Pelosi and the rest have abandoned the rules of a democratic republic and have turned to a Chavez-like form of government. What do we do when the trust and the contract between the government and the people are broken? Here is a post that offers an option-

Peggy commented:
I saw NRO’s report today as well. I pray it is true.
Major Kong commented:
Jean, Peggy, and Sandy,
Well done ladies! I was going to post too.
Though we’ll never know it in this world, wouldn’t it be the most sublime irony if this monstrosity goes down in defeat due to St Joseph’s intercessions?
Sandy commented:
Major Kong — From your mouth to God’s ears. Isn’t Pelosi praying to St. Joseph? Course Saints are praying for Sinners not routing for them.
I think Pelosi is trying to thin the herd of moderates. She wants the Stupaks to go down so they can have a House made up of Leftists.
Today Carl Cameron Fox News said something so stupid it defies credulity. He said Pelosi has the votes 217 to 214 but there are 5 to 10 undecideds by their own admission. Something tells me that Fox had to pay for that interview with Obama by promising positive coverage on this Healthcare Bill.
Sandy commented:
Peggy I think Pelosi wants Stupak to beg.
Nelle commented:
It doesn’t matter where Stupak stands at the moment. He said in that video that if they need his vote in the end, they’ll have it. He thinks that he has done his duty by his vocal opposition to taxpayer funded abortion, and after that, he can go ahead and cave. He’ll still call himself pro-life.
Sandy commented:
There’s a lot of propaganda filling the airwaves but as Dan Perrin on Red State said this morning. If the Dems had the votes they would be having the vote today and not a Pep Rally. Wonder if Jim Jones had a Pep Rally before he had his worshipers drink the Kool Aid. Because whatever happens tomorrow–the Dems are going down big time in November. They broke the cardinal rule — they refused to listen American People. Funny, when Obama was a Senator he attacked Bush for his talk about the Privatization of Social Security. He said if the American people don’t want it — let it go.
Different story now that he has the top job — its full steam ahead. They think we’re so stupid we won’t remember till November. But I will remember till the Death Panel calls my number.
Sandy commented:
3wood — You’re so right. This Healthcare Bill is not like any other. We will feel the effects of this until the end of time and when we lose a loved one who might have been saved with Healthcare on Demand we will curse Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the entire Democratic Party. THIS BILL IS PERSONAL…
Sandy commented:
The Dems continue to have problems with the Republicans on this bill. This from Dan Perrin on Red State
Television’s “Political Capital with Al Hunt,” airing this weekend Orin Hatch said,
“If those people think they’re only going to vote on this once, they’re nuts,” Hatch said
Senator Hatch also mentioned a key point from the text of the amendment that I posted the day before yesterday — as a key reason why the Dems health care bill’s passage would be struck down in Court:
The senator from Utah also said the approach Democrats are using to pass the legislation in the House may be unconstitutional because the House and Senate aren’t voting on “exactly the same language.”
Also the Rules Committee has broken out in Chaos according to Drudge. Schumer wants The House to vote on the Senate Bill and House members are livid.
So between 36 states filing lawsuits, the antipathy between The House and The Senate, the Demon Pass being unconstitutional — buckle up its going to be a bumpy night and this is not going away any time soon.
myna commented:
Yes, I agreed, Archer. All these will come to haunt us all. “When liberty becomes license, dictatorship is near.”
