Nancy Pelosi told liberal bloggers yesterday that Obamacare is just the beginning of the democrat’s big plan to take America in a new direction. She also said that the debate for health care can begin after the bill is passed.
The Washington Examiner reported:

If you have any doubt that the Democratic leadership of the House views passing the current health care reform bill as the beginning, not the end, of the process of creating a national government health care system, just note what Speaker Nancy Pelosi told a group of bloggers on Monday. “My biggest fight has been between those who wanted to do something incremental and those who wanted to do something comprehensive,” Pelosi said, according to an account by Washington Post reform advocate Ezra Klein. “We won that fight, and once we kick through this door, there’ll be more legislation to follow.”

But since the current bill is unpopular, and Pelosi at the moment does not have enough Democratic, much less Republican, votes to pass it, the door she will be kicking through is the back door. Pelosi told the bloggers she favors using the “self-executing rule” strategy in which the House would pass the Senate health care bill without going on the record as specifically voting for it. “I like it,” Pelosi said of the scheme, “because people don’t have to vote on the Senate bill.” The strategy of passing the Senate bill while avoiding a direct vote, writes Klein, “is all about plausible deniability for House members who don’t want to vote for the Senate bill.”

In a particularly Alice-in-Wonderland moment, Pelosi argued that the debate over health care reform can begin after the bill is passed. “Pelosi said passing the bill would allow Dems to undertake a ‘debate’ with Republicans over ‘what is the balanced role that government should have,’” writes another pro-reform blogger at the Post, Greg Sargent. According to Sargent, Pelosi explained, “We have to take it to the American people, to say, this is the choice that you have. This is the vision that they have for your health and well being, and this is the vision that we have.” Again, in Pelosi’s scenario, that debate would occur after the bill is passed.

  1. The real sad part is that I feel as though Pelosi is safe in her seat, and she knows it. Her constituents are those like Clark Sorenson, the guy who made a urinal in likeness of President Bush; or the people who hang out in gay street parties performing acts of fellatio in public. They all agree with her agenda.

I think the best we can hope for is that she finds herself in the minority party very soon.

  2. That is what is known euphemistically as a suave we’ll-close-the-barn’s-doors-after-all-of-the-horses-have-already-gotten-out approach to bringing supporters on-board, an acronym for which is s.c.a.m., which would be insulting the intelligence of most people ordinarily, but not when enough people already voted for Obama that you can be confident that, by a slim majority, the masses will be dumb enough for you to run that scam by them, too. That Nancy, she is so shrewd ….., and suave, too.

  3. Are you all really confident that the American people who placed not just obama in power, but all the dems in congress, governors and state legislatures in power, have the ability to stand up to them and say no? I don’t.

  4. Boy, they really want this cram-down. Pelosi is mad with power.

  5. We live in very perilous times.

    Kill the bill!

  6. I was before this before I was against it. Is she out of her MIND? We’ll find out what’s in it when we pass it? We’ll debate it when it’s done? Cuckoo, cuckoo!

  7. Apparently now if you even ask about the birth certificate you go straight to prison:

‘If passed, the bill will implement an “abuse of process law for vexatious requesters of public records.”’

  8. When I see this woman, the first thing that pops into my mind is ‘East German’ gulag prison guard.

  9. This whole process is dishonest and dishonorable.

  10. They’re all fascists at heart.

  11. paying for obamacare a couple of years before
any medical service coverage – and we’re supposed to believe pelosi and cabal will be able to rise above the urge to confiscate the
money held and use it to fund their agenda?
not that this has happened before [yeah right].
proven thieves should be treated as such.
nancy pelosi – the bernie madoff of congress….

  12. “…dishonest and dishonorable.” there is no honor among thieves.

  13. I swear, every time I see Nancy, she looks more like Peppermint Patty from the Peanuts comic strip. The resemblance is uncanny. Gotta wonder if it’s intentional. What those Democrats will do to get elected.

  14. From the start, the Democrats have attempted to fool the citizens. They have tried to rush this through time and again, tried to limit the time the various versions could be viewed, presented it in terms of the free market when it is socialist in nature, pay ten years for six years of actual benefits, promise to fix the other broken entitlement programs they own, promise that citizens can keep doctors and insurance policies that will no longer be available under their regime, made a series of back-room deals to various pressure groups that the rest of the citizens will have to pay for, then lied that those provsiions will be applicable to all, made pssing votes late at night on off-business days, insert a takeover of student loans that is also a takeover of eductaion from kindergarden through post-doctoral studies, failed to tell citizens about the insertion of the student loan takeover, failed to debate the tekover of education, promised to tell citizens what is in the bill after it is passed, promised to debate the philosophical merits of the bill after it is passed, and ignored plain evidence that a majority of the citizens does not want this bill passed.

  15. Guess what, Nan. We’re going to take your career in a new direction in November.

  16. Is Britny correct?
“Apparently now if you even ask about the birth certificate you go straight to prison:

‘If passed, the bill will implement an “abuse of process law for vexatious requesters of public records.”’

If that is in this bill–along with the fed’s ability to go into a person’s private bank account to move personal funds–then truly, all is lost. We will no longer will live in a democracy worthy of a place in history, but rather in nothing better than a banana republic.

  17. Nancy, we’re going to remove all your hair. Only then may the true, fair haircut emerge.

  18. Banana Republic?

More like a Bananas Democratic Party!!!

Let’s see, San Fran Nan…. First you give me a blank check, signed in your name. Then give me your credit card account numbers & PINs and all other user IDs/passwords to your entire financial holdings.

Once that’s been done — and after I have emptied all of the above holdings of their contents — you and I can debate exactly how the funds that I now possess will be spent.

    Deal?

    Yeah, I thought not…

  19. Nothing good can come from this.

  20. Not NO but HELL NO! now we can debate a dead bill.

  21. they dont have the votes otherwise there would be no need to even bring this slaughter bill up…they are scared and looking for options….keep up the calls to your local congress person…. oops i mean village idiot…keep up the good fight its up to us now..if all else fails …yes powder is dry and locked and loaded…

  22. Bull. 30 seconds after the gavel comes down, Obama will be right there with pen in hand, and 30 seconds after that all you will hear is “Health care? That’s sooooo last week. This week we’re talking jobs Jobs! JOBS!! Don’t you care? Have you no sympathy for the poor unfortunate?!!”
