The Seattle Times reported today on another horrible political attack. The Times claimed that liberal democrat Rep. Steve Driehaus had a rock thrown though his office window:

Protesters have been demonstrating at Driehaus’ Ohio home, said Tim Mulvey, a spokesman for the anti-abortion Democrat who joined Stupak in voting for the health bill. A rock was thrown through the window of Driehaus’ Cincinnati office Sunday, and a death threat was phoned in to his Washington office a day later, Mulvey said.

“It’s getting out of hand,” Mulvey said.

As Glenn Reynolds noted… Rep. Driehaus’ office is in the Carew Tower in Cincinnati.

  1. Come now he probably had a sling shot

  2. Waddaya know,

    a throw-down threat!

  3. Omg! LMAO!

  4. Just another fine example of the left MSM reporting their JOKER Journalism!

  5. Slingshot? Maybe a bazooka…?

  6. To believe such a report requires a total suspension of disbelief…

    Oh, brother, indeed…

  7. the Libs are getting desperate

unfortunately for US, it’s more likely that an attack will
occur than not.. then Obama can declare Martial Law..

that ought to quell any uprising huh..

  9. It only says someone threw the rock through the window. It doesn’t say which DIRECTION the rock was going. I would guess that the nasty conservative terrorist went into his office and threw the rock OUT the window.

  10. Here’s the police sketch of the suspect who threw the rock through the 30th floor window:

    http://blog.nbc.com/frank/1BIGARM7-12-07.jpg

  11. How did they calibrate the trebuchet?

  12. Is it still Bush’s fault?

  13. Can this guy play Center Field? Now that’s an arm!

  14. I’m from Cincy and yes, his office is a little bit out of reach.

This is simply a Democratic ploy to take the heat off of them.

  15. it wasn’t a rock.

it was a lightning bolt from above!

  16. Not Intimidated #10… Hilarious! but how do the police know it was a left-handed rock?

  17. George Jetson is being sought for questioning, in case it was a drive by!

  18. Maybe the Liberals/dems will find an office on a lower level NOW and then re report their story!

  19. Does he have any evidence of a broken window? Could it have been broken from the inside? Is he just another Leftist liar? Remember, the Imperial Congress deliberately walked through the crowd trying to bait them into saying or doing something that could be captured on video and audio to marginalize the Tea Party Movement….Saul Alinsky tactics demonstrated. Don’t get sucked in if you visit your Rep’s office or if you are at any public event. Cameras and recorders are rolling, and they are just looking to find the one nutjob or overwrought person who loses control. They also have SEIU and other thugs planted who yell obscenities and bring outrageous signs. They are the equivalent of Trolls who invade Conservative blogs and try to post nonsense or inflammatory trash to be used to marginalize the blogs.

  20. Maybe someone broke the window from the INSIDE in an attempt to escape a crazed Progressive.

  21. Hey! The Chicago Cubs need to find this guy. They can always use a good arm in the bullpen.

  22. ever hear of an elevator? there are such things as offices that have windows on the inside you know?

  23. No doubt the rock was thrown by a Cardinal, the Ohio State bird which just happens to be Republican red in color!!! Coincidence?

No doubt you dumb-a$$ people will claim it is; but I have it on good authority that the Washington Post is preparing an expose on the basis of a study done by researchers at Ohio State University. That study, funded by the President’s brilliant Stimulus Bill, examined the crapping behavior of the Ohio State bird and found that the Republican Red fowl was much more likely to dump on the windshields of autos parked in blue voting districts.

Apparently, in the wake of the Health Care Bill, they’ve upped the ante.

  24. This is intimidation perpetuated by the old media to silent decent. Tear up your DNC card. Time to vote out all these corrupt politicians.

  25. I’m sure this genre is old by now, but . . .

I hope the Rams find the guy before the police do.

  26. Mick, keep rationalizing it. It was a lie, because that is what progressives do. THEY LIE! The Congressman just wants to play the martyr, because that is also what they do.

  27. Mick, are you suggesting someone took the elevator to the 30th floor, got out, threw a rock at a window inside the building, got back into the elevator, returned to the lobby, and simply walked away? Isn’t that a bit risky with the possibility of being videotaped by security cameras and being confronted by building Security? It would be a lot easier for a staffer to break the window and then enlist the willing lapdog media to run with the story, don’t you think?

  28. Ah you rascally Demoncraps, trying to start your own Reischstag fire. You ain’t going to get away with it.

  29. Hey Mick,

Can we assume that you approached this post with all the care and diligence with which you approached the presidential election? Like the well trained chimps in Florida during the 2,000 election, who never bothered to look at the ballot but simply punched the same chad they always had, election after election?

Had you bothered to read the story Mr. Hoft linked to, you’d have found this information:

Justin Binik-Thomas emails from Cincinnati that Rep. Driehaus’ office “is on the 30th floor of a skyscraper downtown.” He also says that he spoke to Driehaus’ office today and they said this never happened. Which is too bad, in a way, as the Reds could use a guy with an arm like that . . . .

  30. But he was a very little rabbit and the rock wasn’t very big and still the egg didn’t break… – Margaret Wise Brown

  31. Let’s see. 12 ft per floor x 30 = 360 ft up. Riiiight. Check the staffers

  32. We read the hc bill months ago. You did not. We win. You lose. End of story! November looms. Don’t watch or listen to the msm.

    Have a nice day!

  33. And, they wonder why the American public doesn’t trust the left-wing media.

    I know, I know!

    The Democratic memo story!

No that really wasn’t really the LW media, although they covered it and Drudge loved it until they figured out it hadn’t been confirmed.

The “Obama banning sports fishing” story!

Well, no, although particularly the RW sources and radio blowhards ran with it, and Beck repeated it even after Fox said it wasn’t true.

Ok..the “maybe this will equalize things/Eric Cantor’s office” story?

Um…no, depsite a good bit of coverage on Fox, it turns out, it was not aimed at the office window.

“A bullet was shot through the window of my campaign office in Richmond this week, and I’ve received threatening e-mails,” Cantor said. He refused to release details, however, saying it would only encourage more threats, and refused to take questions.
Later Thursday, however, Richmond police said in a news release that the bullet had been fired into the air around 1 a.m. Tuesday. It finished its random arc back to earth at a sharp downward trajectory, breaking a window pane on the bottom floor of the two-story brick building where Cantor’s campaign leases the top floor.

    Damn liberal media!

  34. I know who it was… the center-fielder for the Reds, who else?

  35. Another reason to fear the electorate. Taking out a window on the 30th floor is pure awesome. He probably didn’t do it from next to the building either. When I do this kind of thing, I like to be a mile or two away. I find the rocks deflect off the window if I’m too close. No I like a nice flat trajectory that has the rock hitting flat against the window. I would throw something large, like a tank, but this idiot has an office not a floor. With the DNC headquarters, I’d use a tank, a police car or the car of someone who honked at me.

Anyhow, Driehaus merited a rock as it was just a few windows.
    Just saying…

  37. Unfortunately the threat of violence seems to work well for muslims and left-wing fanatics in getting their way. I am afraid that Democrats have ignored the fact that the political pendulum swings just as dramatically in the opposite direction as they have pushed it in their direction.

  38. Did anyone check to see if Massa was there and they had a tickle party that got out of hand?

  39. Doesn’t Obama have a history of passive/aggressive behavior? He does the most outrageous things and then when the people are furious — it somehow becomes about racism.

This is dangerous because the focus on violence gives every lunatic an opportunity to also be destructive.

A bill was passed by the Dems early last year which calls for a Domestic Security Force as large and expensive as our Military. We know as things stand the Dems are going to lose in a landslide next November. Unless of course, its too dangerous to vote.

  40. I could totally throw that high. I used to be a pitcher for my highschool baseball team.

  41. Bush did it – as usual!

  42. I’m wondering how long Obama will allow ABC to continue to air the tv show “V”. Its obvious parallels to our situation are uncanny!

I might take this moment to say hello the the DHS dude/tte who is now monitoring this right wing blog. Hope you have a nice boring evening!

To make your life easier I’ll give you info on what I’m doing: Currently I’m watching Shatner’s Raw Nerve, Red Eye on FoxNews, and the recap of “V” on DVR. I figured I’d give you guys some easy answers so you don’t have to use resources to find out what I’m recording to watch. I also plan to watch the Tudors when it restarts on Showtime, CNBC or Fox Business News during the day tomorrow, the Kudlow Report, and then do some web surfing. I’ve gone to Walmart to buy some dish detergent tonight and some kleenex as I have a cold. Other than that, I plan to have a PB&J sandwich tomorrow along with Pringles and Coke.

Now I’m off to bed as its late. I plan to read something really subversive: A trashy romance novel set in England written by Amanda Quick before falling asleep.

    Nighty night.

  43. Whoever threw that rock should be arrested and then quickly drafted by the Yankees.
Things that make you say, huh?

  44. It must have been an inside job.

  45. (I think nrs. 29, 30, and 32 were too hard on Mick, nr. 24; I read Mick’s comment as a joke, not as a serious attempt at justifying the story.)

  46. Thurber #36, If you read the reg about fishing you will see it covers sport fishing as well as commercial fishing. It’s marine fishing law, but marine fishing is also ruled to include FRESH WATER DRAINAGE AREAS TOO. Let’s see, Pigeon Creeks feeds the Ohio river, which feeds the Mississippi River which drains into the Gulf of Mexico, which happens to be a marine environment.,The problem with lib/progressive.socialist/communist leaders is they just want you to let them seize these powers for fun ya know. Yeah, just give em the power. They promise they won’t use that power or anything. They promise, really they do. No kidding, they won’t. They PROMISE they won’t. But still, they need it you see. That’s the difference between a Republic where rights are bestowed by God and People are protected by the Constitution and a dictatorship where the Sovereign and his minions dole out privileges to their SUBJECTS as the Sovereign sees fit. Or well you know Thurber, maybe just as he damn well feels like it. Why do you want that?

  47. The Bengals have offered the brick tosser a cantract.

  48. Oh very nice building in the spat thanks for shearing.

  49. That is very nice its very strong building

  50. It was the right wing Curt Schilling.

  51. # 46 – Bush did have a pretty good arm…

  52. a claim like this is w-a-y to far-fetched. to
make such a claim must have involved a lot of winking and nodding and anyone believing it
while able to vote is obviously to dense to live.

  54. Maybe it was a Coconut. Yeah, and carried by 2 African Swallows…. Oh wait, that is racist… 2, count ‘em 2 European Swallows!!!!!!

  55. Holy shyte! Don’t mess with the Tea Partiers! What arms they must have, and what AIM! Hey, maybe the Six Million Dollar Man is a Tea Partier! Wow!

(cue cheesy 70s bionic-arm-strength sound effect)

  56. That the Left would attribute the political right wing (arm) of the populace with the capability of such a feat attests to their abject terror at the might the the right wing/arm to “reach out and touch” their elected representatives.

Ah, yes, cowaring behind the file cabinet as the incoming missiles impact.

Let’s ignore for the moment that most highrise office buildings have windows that are QUITE resistent to breakage, hence a stone would have to be traveling pretty fast to break said window.

However, the frail sensitivities of the Mighty Liberal Liberators are indeed quite easily bruised and broken, so a stray feather or butterfly could have easily upset their equilibrium (such as it is).

Ya want some (free gov’t) cheese with that whine?

  57. the Barack Obama website (Organizing for America) is now trying to obtain money from their members to stop the violence against the Democrats. They sent this email out this morning.

“We knew that power concedes nothing. So did President Obama. So did the members of Congress who courageously voted for reform, knowing that the special interests and the extreme right wing would retaliate swiftly.

The attacks are fierce. Deceptive ads are hitting the airwaves in swing districts. GOP lawmakers are pushing to repeal reform — and preventing the Senate from performing basic functions. A few Republican attorneys general have launched a baseless attack to overturn the legislation. But that’s not even the worst of it.

A conservative blogger posted the home address of Congressman Tom Perriello, urging tea partiers to “drop by.” Other members have had death threats. Democratic offices have been vandalized.

Please chip in $5 or more to defend health reform — and those in Congress who fought to make it possible.
Showing support for reform and those who fought for it is our number one priority right now. We’re going all-out, organizing grassroots events around the country, running supportive ads on the air, and making sure that every American knows the truth about the historic legislation that representatives voted into law.

Members of Congress know that reform would not have passed without all of your incredible work. But we also know that it would not have passed without their courage.

Together, along with President Obama, we beat the insurance companies and brought affordable coverage to 32 million without it, reduced costs for families and small businesses, and created the toughest patient protections in history.

A few weeks ago, we made a simple promise to these representatives: You fight for health reform, we’ll fight for you. It’s time to hold up our end of the deal. Please donate $5 or more:

  58. Apparently it was the local Democratic party headquarters, rather than the Congressman’s office: http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2010/03/22/rock-thrown-at-dem-hqs/

So, not a made-up-story, but still off the mark.

  59. I was at Steve Driehaus’s office last week. It is indeed on the 30th floor, and there are no inside windows. You walk out of the elevator and his office is directly opposite, through double (solid) wooden doors that open directly into the reception area. The only windows are to the outside. I have never been to the Democratic Party offices, so I can’t comment on whether they have accessible windows or not.

  60. Well, they’re right one one count. Things are certainly getting out of hand.

  61. Active violence shouldn’t surprise anyone. With fervor, people have been demonstrating saying that people should continue to die from a lack of insurance, 45,000 a year. People’s needless suffering at the hands of insurance companies has been described as part of “freedom.” Passive aggression is evasive and surreptitious, but highly life-damaging and even fatal.

  62. It was his campaign office, moron.

  63. Did it ever occur to any of you that this whole thing was fabricated by a person who opposes H.C. and wanted to make the Democrat look like a fool?…Do you all believe everything you read?…If he wanted to lie he’d pick a more logical lie, wouldn’t he?…Hi everyones IQ??? Where did it go today??

  64. Whoever “did” this has some arm – maybe the Cincinnatti “Reds” should sign him up:)

  65. Hi. This is Leon Espinoza, executive news editor of The Seattle Times. We picked up the information in question from the Bloomberg News wire service. On Friday (March 26), our wire editor called Tim Mulvey, the spokesman for Ohio Democratic Rep. Steve Driehaus. Mulvey, who was quoted in the article, said he was misquoted about where the rock was thrown. We contacted Bloomberg, which investigated and then moved a correction. We are publishing a correction in print and have already corrected the information at our Web site.

  66. It won’t be long before one of these dirt bags gets caught trashing his own office. The smell of democratic desperation reminds me of the smell of napalm in the morning, Jim

  67. Looks like the article has been changed.

“A rock was thrown through the Hamilton County Democratic Party headquarters in Cincinnati…”

Correction? Or fast footwork? Who knows…

  68. Tea Party Air Force. Where’s NORAD when you need them?

  69. I think they just mis-named the office; here’s the web site with a picture of the broken window.

    http://www.hamiltoncountydems.org/

They didn’t specify the address of the building; I’m assuming it’s the Hamilton County Democratic Party headquarters rather than Driehaus’ office.

  70. Hey Reds, sign up that boy…he’s got one helluva’n arm!
