Barack Obama repeated the lie today that his health care reform will not cut Medicare benefits.
The truth is:
The Senate Bill + Reconciliation Bill + Rules Manager’s Amendment = $528.5 Billion in cuts to Medicare (CBO Letter To Speaker Pelosi, 3/20/10)

I’m curious, I heard that Holder had quietly authorized resumption of payments to ACORN a week or so ago, so why are they filing for bankruptcy? So they can jettison the ACORN name and baggage and reopen under same management but new name and receive the new reauthorized payments without fighting in the courts or fighting the Republicans in Congress?
I called my insurance agent, who is also a friend, and asked when I can expect my $2500 check for the reduction in my premiums. He said the mint is printing the new Obama $2500 bills as we speak, but for those who don’t want the bills, they can opt instead for the new Obama T-Bills, also being printed as we speak….”Merry Christmas”….or is it “April Fool”!!!

You have Pelosi at 8% and Reid at 11% while 70% of Americans hate this Healthcare Bill. But Time finds the Republicans campaign on this issue frought with danger.

I agree with most of what you say, but I’m not so sure running on repeal will be a good idea. The GOP seems quite inept these days of getting its message out, and with no help from the MSM it will be difficult. Just enough of this will kick in just before mid-terms (intentionally IMHO) the Dems will try to make repeal a “take-away” in the manner they have used Social Security “take-away” for decades. The real pain doesn’t come until 2014, and the Dems are hoping Obama will be in his second term. I just don’t have a good feeling about running on repeal when the MSM will do it all it can to make the GOP meanies who want to kill and eat babies.

Was just on the Yahoo Finance main page, and there’s a linked story from US News & World Report “debunking” the fears about Obamacare. Among other things, they tout the CBO’s budget projections. You guys, especially Jo, are such ignorant haters. Keep listening to what the GOP and Fake News tell you instead of doing your own research. You should really go to the Pulitzer-Prize-winning politifact.com. Obama hasn’t been able to keep all his promises due to attempting to work across the aisle with the deceitful Republicans, whose only desire is to win back seats, rather than help the American people.
For instance, the Rethuglicans kept on claiming during the health care summit and during the vote on the bill, that “10 years of revenue was going to pay for 6 years of care.” They sure manage to over-simplify things. They ramp up taxes over that time and some of the money goes to pay for things right away. However, $927-billion of the $940-billion in expenses are during the last 6 years. They’re seriously trying to make a big deal of beginning to make some money ahead of time when 98.6% of the money will be spent for during the last 6 years?
I was an Independent before the election, despite knowing that we’ll probably never have a viable third party and that neither side wants small government. But after seeing the way Republicans manage to pull the wool over the Tea Partiers’ eyes on this, it looks like the Democrats are my only choice. At least they use the money to take care of middle-class Americans, and not give tax cuts to the rich, fight one unjustified war in Iraq and another one where the Repubs said Osama (the only reason we went there) “wasn’t even important anymore,” and give huge no-bid contracts to their corporate cronies. The Repubs manage to trick ignorant people into believing that they want small government, when the only thing they want that is “small” is the government’s benefit for the people that support this country, the middle class. They still want big government to pay for the corporations that got them elected and will oppose any legislation (such as the original single-payer or public option health care bills) that threatens that.

Now that the Pelosi House has rammed ObamaCare through and the President has signed it, opponents of the legislation have been wringing their hands over what to do next. “REPEAL” they shout.
The Obamabot Mainstream Media has already begun the counter-assault by framing the repeal argument as taking back goodies that people are celebrating as “Christmas gifts”! And, of course, taking away something now perceived as an “entitlement” is very difficult.
We must shift our emphasis. The very distraction that caused the bill to pass… focusing on minutiae rather than the overarching unconstitutional power grab and curtailment of liberty… is now threatening any efforts to keep this abomination legislation from going forward.
The uninformed see the bill as a cookiejar of goodies for them. The media hypes “how can you take that away?”
The stock market does not see an immediate drag on the economy, though one is coming down the pike. They do see goodies for Big Pharma. The market rises, and the media hypes “see, Wall Street likes ObamaCare”. (Never mind that Germany’s economy grew after the Enabling Act gave Hitler dictatorial powers… but we all know the results on liberty!)
So what to do?
Firstly, the narrative must focus NOT on abortion, deficits, spending, death panels or any other minutiae. The focus must be on unconstitutional usurping of power and limitation on individual liberty.
Next, along with the states’ lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of ObamaCare, efforts should be made to secure a restraining order from the Supreme Court to prevent ANY provisions of the act from being implemented pending the outcome of legal challenges to it’s constitutionality.
In addition, the Republicans should come together NOW and craft the alternative healthcare reform they WOULD have liked passed. Tort Reform, purchases across state lines, small-business cooperative group purchases, etc – and INCLUDING the acceptable provisions from ObamaCare such as the pre-existing condition changes and denial of coverage changes. The new bill would also begin with the phrasing to the effect that, “ObamaCare is repealed in its entirety and replaced with the following.”
They should ALL Co-Sponsor this bill – written IDENTICALLY in the House and Senate, and introduce the bill as soon as it’s written. (Yes, it will never see the light of day in a committe of the 111th Congress.) They should post this “Healthcare Reform Repair Act of 2010” bill online, and all conservative candidates, whether incumbents or challengers, should pledge and campaign that the first act of a conservative majority after the election would be to pass the Healthcare Reform Repair Act!
By writing INTO the repeal legislation the REPLACEMENT legislation, and by KEEPING the “goodies” that have been touted in ObamaCare while repealing the Government Takeover… we not only win the policy and ideological battles, but the propaganda battle for public opinion.
The Progressives have awakened the sleeping conservative giant. They have no idea how big and strong that giant is. We have lost a battle, but are regrouping for a counterattack which will decimate their movement.
