More Economic Suicide: Obama Administration Bans Offshore Drilling For 3 Years

In 2009 Democrats scrapped oil and gas leases in Utah, permanently banned drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), and nixed offshore drilling.
For decades Democrats have blocked efforts to responsibly develop this nation’s energy resources, transforming vast areas of opportunity into “The No Zone.”
A recent study examined the cost of these democratic policies of not drilling and developing domestic oil reserves. The SAIC Corporation discovered that democrats will cost the US $2.36 Trillion through 2029.
And then there’s this…
Obama’s Secretary of Energy recently announced a three-year offshore drilling ban.
Investor’s Business Daily reported, via Planet Gore:
Our secretary of energy pushes bio-refineries and windmills to oil executives at an energy conference as the administration announces a three-year offshore drilling ban. This is a policy for economic suicide.
They don’t qualify as an official group of victims, but carbon-Americans, as they have been called, did not have much to cheer about last week, when Energy Secretary Steven Chu addressed CERAWeek 2010, a premier industry conference hosted by IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates.
With an economy struggling to regain sound footing, Chu advocated a starvation diet devoid of additional fossil fuels that are to remain under the ground and seabed. Instead, he supports 53% more funding for wind research and a 22% jump for solar research.
Subsidizing alternative energy fits the classic definition of insanity. Despite huge subsidies, it has proved to be neither cost-effective nor a reliable, significant contributor to our national power grid. Yet we keep subsidizing it, expecting a different result.
“Oil is an ideal transportation fuel, so it will be with us for decades,” Chu conceded, even as the administration forbids us from getting more of it here, creating energy jobs, lowering energy costs and cutting our trade deficit. Instead we’ll rely increasingly on foreign and often unfriendly suppliers.
Chu acknowledged the role cleaner-burning natural gas can play in electricity generation, but only as a “transition to other fuels” in coming years. And the administration continues to gobble up lands where it might be found and impose environmental regulations that curtail the use of new technologies such as fracking to get more oil and natural gas from America’s vast shale deposits.
Can we all agree now that this administration is purposely trying to destroy this nation?

I read about this a few weeks ago and thought it was some right wing nut telling a lie to make Obama look really stupid, not that he has any redeeming policy ideas, but this one is beyond destructive. Nervousness is setting in, attending rallys and D.C. in September 09 helps, along with lots and lots of prayers pointed to the heavens….gas price is rising, stores around me are closing by the day and the grocery store has signs on empty shelves ” to our valued customers, we apoligize, the shipments are low nationally and we are working hard to correct the problem”.

Another day, another delay. What’s really troubling is that President Obama has repeatedly said in speeches, including the State of the Union, that he supports offshore drilling, but he has done nothing but delay since the day he took office.

This will be another states right issue to be contended. Gov. McDonnell of VA has approved offshore leasing to develop the state’s energy industry. Cali & west coast states are too chicken to oppose. Lets hope AL, FL, and VA, maybe a couple of other eastern seaboard states will press it to the SCOTUS.

Tea Party Patriots and FreedomWorks will have volunteers stationed at the bus drop off at the west lawn. (Maryland Ave. and 3rd Street SW) Our “meetup” location will be at the East Lawn of the Capitol (East Capitol Circle, same side of the Capitol as the Supreme Court Building). We will give you the Representatives’ information, room numbers etc. and give you helpful hints on lobbying. Volunteers will also be handing out information at the Cannon Building location. We do have a bullhorn.
Things to do before and during The Surge.
1. Dress in normal clothes this is about country not organizations and it presents a more professional appearance.
2. If you have a Democrat Representative go to their office and ask to speak to them. If unavailable ask when they will return. If longer than an hour ask to speak to their Chief of Staff. You do not want to talk to the receptionist. If they try to brush you off because you are not from their district then explain to them that the vote they will be casting will affect all citizens of this country and therefore you should be heard.
3. Begin calling at 9:00am! If you are there and standing in line to get into the one of the buildings begin making phone calls to congressmen. Keep calling while you are walking from one office to the other. If you are not going to attend please begin calling at 9:00am and continue calling until 12:00 noon. Wait one hour and begin calling once again until 5:30pm.
4. Write your thoughts down. Keep it personal as to why you do not want them to vote for the bill. When you speak to them it is okay to show passion and feelings but be respectful. Be assertive and state your case. Try to spend thirty minutes in each office if possible. Think of alternatives that you would like to see.
5. If you are not going please call your local talk radio shows. Tell them what is happening. Get them talking about it. A few calls about this will turn the show to The Surge.
6.You do not need to bring signs. This is not a rally or a protest. It is a surge of patriots from all groups, our goal is to make this personal.

New protections for gun owners are on the agenda in Utah, where state Rep. Carl Wimmer is preparing to introduce a bill that would assert the state’s sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth amendments.

Using an obscure clause in the Antiquities Act of 1906, the Department of the Interior under Ken Salazar would designate the land as “monuments” in order to block the use of the resources in those states. DeMint correctly asserts that this is not only a perversion of the intent of the Antiquities Act, but also a huge power grab by the federal government at the expense of the states:
If a state can’t keep the federal government from unilaterally declaring that their land no longer belongs to them, then states have no real power at all — and neither do the people, represented by Congress.

The problem is…replacing Congress won’t help in many of these instances. The rules are being changed by fiat; by BOs Czars and Cabinet heads. As I recall, it was back in 1992 or in 1993 or thereabouts that geologists discovered that there was a huge reservoir of oil under the floor of the Gulf Of Mexiico off the coast of Florida; a discovery that was suppressed by the liberal media and which received little publicity, thanks to the influence of the loony environmentalists.
Wake up America!!! These loony environmentalists are phonies, and they are at the core of the agenda to slyly impose socialism on this country incrementally.
