Crazy Uncle Joe told Yahoo reporter Aaron Task that he prefers the socialist phrase “just being fair” over the socialist phrase “redistribution of wealth.”

Yahoo Finance reported, via Free Republic:

In part two of my exclusive interview, I asked the Vice President whether we can afford these tax cuts, given the country’s massive federal deficits. Biden’s view is that we can’t afford not to do them: “We can’t afford to leave the middle class behind,” he says. “These things matter to people who are struggling and they matter to people who have lost their jobs as well.”

There’s also the issue of whether these tax cuts, in conjunction with the health care reform bill signed last week, represent a redistribution of wealth in America, as many claim.

“It’s a simple proposition to us: Everyone is entitled to adequate medical health care,” Biden says. “If you call that a ‘redistribution of income’ — well, so be it. I don’t call it that. I call it just being fair — giving the middle class taxpayers an even break that the wealthy have been getting.”

The top quintile of Americans earned 55.7% of pretax income and paid 69.3% of federal taxes in 2006, according to the most recent CBO data. But the Vice President isn’t buying the idea that the wealthiest are already paying their fair share, noting the top 1% of earners get 22% of all income made in the U.S.

“Taxes have been lowered for the wealthy considerably over the years,” he says. “It’s about time we get a little tax equity here.”

  4. What could Joe “F-ing” Biden possibly understand about the concept of fairness when he’s out lying in order to push the statist agenda? Fair? What’s fair about me working all week just to have Big Bro confiscate half of my earnings to hand over to an ever-increasingly number of slacker dependents? This is not a safety net it’s a dependent class of Americans. Ponzi scheme CBO numbers plus outrageous Govt. waste completely dismantle this B.S. ‘fairness’ argument. Fairness – just another crapped out, leftist term that is meaningless and does nothing but weaken the nation and its citizens.

As far as determining who is ‘poor’, let’s use the Government’s definition – what is it, 200% of poverty level or something?

    1. Where is the tipping point? Is it now? Is it when the left recruits illegal aliens as a voting bloc? (It is maddening they take YOUR money from your family’s mouth and pays another group to keep them in power!)

What is the next step when you realize your votes, your voice and your pain means nothing to them?

  47. “giving the middle class taxpayers an even break that the wealthy have been getting.”

    Good joke Joe.

The middle class will soon be counted as “wealthy” and will get one hell of a tax hike, because it’s the only way to finance Obama’s boondoggle. And sooner or later (more sooner than later) there won’t be a “middle class” anymore.

You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.
Are you drunk Ian? New Orleans lies below sea level. Sooner or later it would have gone down. Hurricanes are natural there. Only a matter of time. So who let New Orleans drown? Explain that to me, I’m curious. Maybe it was global warming, eh? Our… ~12PPM CO2 are sooo baaaaaaad. Yes Ian, be a good sheep and repeat after me: CO2 baaaaaaaaaad.

You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people.
Who? What “people” are you talking about? All I see is terrorist scum getting waterboarded. You want real torture? Look into any communist gulag (China and North Korea are still quite active in that area.)

You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.
And who pushed it there? Not Bush. Who started the crisis with forcing banks to give loans and mortgages to everyone? Not Bush.

You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick.
Uh… spoken like someone who has no idea. The people in America could see doctors when they were sick before “Obamacare”. What you get with Obamacare is an NHS (which is about to cut funding for public medical care in the UK.)

You didn’t get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.
Spoken like a true communist. Oh yes, the evil rich. Just wait till your tax hike comes, Ian. Because it will come. Obama and Biden will eventually run out of “rich” people to tax. Like in Europe.

You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy.
Who else should? Politicians? They know nothing. Environmentalists? They’re idiots. You? rofl!

You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.
Somehow I’m convinced you would say the same if you had lived in the 40s and US troops were landing in Normandy. But hey, even genocide in Iraq isn’t a good enough reason to go in, right? Straight from Obama’s mouth that one comes.

  48. I want half of what Joe Biden’s got.

    It’s only fair, Joe….

  49. “It’s about time we get a little tax equity here.”

Yep, everybody pays the same percentange. That’s fair.

But soon it’ll be like in Europe.

Remember, if you live in Austria, you pay 50% taxes once you make 60k Euros per year (which hardly makes you “rich”.) It’s not much better in Germany or the UK. VAT in the UK 17.5%. In Germany 19%. In Austria 20%. And taxes in Sweden have been totally out of hand for years.

Yet, despite all this… the money is not enough because the welfare state, which Joe and Barry want to copy so badly, is a bottomless pit.

The welfare state is a failure and a powder keg that only needs a spark to blow up. because soon one runs out of “rich” to taxe. Then one taxes the “middle class” and they will run out of money eventually. Then what?

Joe’s “fairness” has only one goal: to make the rich poor and to keep the poor poor.

Also, want to bet that Joe and his ilk won’t pay more taxes?

    The classic sign of socialism.

All animals are equal. Just some animals are more equal than others.

  50. I wonder how much of his money he’s willing to part with, or is he exempt from that (like he is from Obamacare)?

  51. Three questions for those who believe in redistribution of wealth or being fair. Do you take ANY deductions, exemptions, tax credits, do you declare anything (including yourself) on your state and federal tax forms? If yes, why? Why are you not willing to pay more taxes to spread the wealth?

  52. Fair? So now our government is in the business of being fair?
Let’s start with this….reduce the size of government; cut taxes and stop making people beg to get their own money back.
The government has almost run out of things to tax.
You want to be fair. Let people keep the money they work hard to earn.
Does anyone think that is not fair?

  53. What’s next? After Obama declares martial law and bans membership in the Republican Party, will Biden say, “You call it ‘Dictatorship of the Proletariat.’ I call it ‘leveling the playing field.’”?

  54. That seems to be the point that all the socialists are making now days; “I think it is ok to pay more to be fair.”

Well that is like a mugger winking at you while he is taking your wallet. He whispers, “its fair” as he lifts it.

No difference between the Dems and a mugger that I can see.

  55. The great thing about “fair” is that it is so arbitrary in nature.

I think it would be “fair” to impose a “fair tax” on politicians who use the word “fair” in rhetoric.

Somehow I feel it would come from the same place as all the other money they spend. That is so “un-fair”.

What Communist nation has contributed to the betterment of the human condition thru innovation in science, medicine, art, literature, etc (outside of that which was state-sponsored for military application)? Is the American “rugged individualist” spirit so dead that we will accept universal mediocrity?

  59. Is the Value Added Tax coming?

Obama set out to be a consequential president, one on the order of Ronald Reagan. With the VAT, Obama’s triumph will be complete. He will have succeeded in reversing Reaganism. Liberals have long complained that Reagan’s strategy was to starve the (governmental) beast in order to shrink it: First, cut taxes; then, ultimately, you have to reduce government spending.

Obama’s strategy is exactly the opposite: Expand the beast, and then feed it. Spend first — which then forces taxation. Now that, with the institution of universal health care, we are becoming the full entitlement state, the beast will have to be fed.

    Warning from Louis Farrakhan

“For 12 long years I lived within the narrow-minded confines of the ‘straightjacket world’ created by my strong belief that Elijah Muhammad was a messenger direct from God Himself, and my faith in what I now see to be a pseudo-religious philosophy that he preaches…. I shall never rest until I have undone the harm I did to so many well-meaning, innocent Negroes who through my own evangelistic zeal now believe in him even more fanatically and more blindly than I did.”

  68. One of the most aggravating things about the tax-hike on people making $250K-plus (which, by the way, would be the combined income for marrieds! Now we have TWO marriage penalties!) is that a majority of people making that kind of money have spent many years working hard before they even reached that level. So, it’s not like they’re folks who’ve enjoyed this kind of income most of their adult lives — rather, they are mostly people who’ve reached late middle age and their peak earning years. Many will have made $250K or more for only a handful of years before old age sets in.

How is it right to penalize them, especially considering the road they travelled to get to where they are? How is it right to sock them with the same tax rate as someone making 100 times as much?
