Last week Spanish and French officials captured 3 top ETA terrorists in France. One of the ETA terrorists had returned from Venezuela where he trained with the communist FARC terror group in the jungle. Also last week the it was reported that the Chavez government assisted Marxist FARC and ETA terrorist groups in a plot to murder popular Columbian President Alvaro Uribe.
Today Hollywood kook and hero Sean Penn spoke out is support of Hugo Chavez. Penn wants journalists jailed for calling Chavez a dictator.

This photo released by the Venezuelan Presidency show Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez (L) during a meeting with US actor Sean Penn (R), at the presidential palace in Caracas, on October 28. He said he would pass a message from Chavez to Obama when he returned to the US. (AFP/PRESIDENCIA)
FOX News reported:
First Amendment be damned . . . If Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn had his way, any journalist who called Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez a dictator would quickly find himself behind bars.
Penn, appearing on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday, defended Chavez during a segment in which he detailed his work with the JP Haitian Relief Organization, which he co-founded.
“Every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it, and accept it” said Penn, winner of two Best Actor Academy Awards. “And this is mainstream media, who should — truly, there should be a bar by which one goes to prison for these kinds of lies.”
It was just the beginning of a busy weekend for Penn. When asked on CBS’ “Sunday Morning” about those who question his motives for his humanitarian work in Haiti, he said:
“Do I hope that those people die screaming of rectal cancer? Yeah. You know, but I’m not going to spend a lot of energy on it.”

Hugo Chavez arranged for Zelaya to head Venezuela’s newly-formed Petrocaribas Political Council and Zelaya has a book deal in the works.

Chavez is a Dictator. Obama is a two-bit tin pot Chavez wanna bee.
And Chavez did it all the while shouting “peace, jobs and democracy” to the useful idiots of Venezuela, who believed in the free stuff fairy.
“Peace, jobs and democracy” is what Stalin used to shout in the May Day parades to his useful idiots.
Don Rodrigo commented:
Funny.
Penn played the fictional version of Huey Long (All the King’s Men), the demagogic, quasi-dictatorial populist governor of Louisiana.
This cretin has no sense of irony, does he?
Neoavatara commented:
This is so ridiculously stupid, I really don’t know what to say…

He says ‘he isn’t going to spend alot of energy on it’………oh, really? It looks like he is obsessing about it

Yet again, Mr Penn fails to see Teh Irony in his own statements.

This guy has no idea what the heck he is saying. He wouldn’t even be an actor if not for his father. I wonder if the money for the movie about Mr. Chavez that he received has anything to do with the statement?
myna commented:
Sean Penn must be smoking dope. Hugo Chavez is a dictator. Does this dope has brain at all? Hugo Chavez has plunging his nation to poverty and chaos. Time to move to your utopian socialist nation, Sean, name Hugo’s gulag nation.

I really liked that book; never saw the movie, though, cause no way I was enduring that little turd.

People question Penn’s humanitarian motives, so he wishes they should ‘die screaming of rectal cancer’? What, how dare someone question Penn’s anything? The guy is nothing…less than nothing.

Pennis a traitor and should be leftwith chavez–kick him out of america! get lost traitor! Treason! too bad its not the 1800′s he would be hung!
sue commented:
Ironically Sean Penn would never enjoy what he has here if he lived in a country with dictatorship rule like Venezuela. This is typical of Hollyweird, with Penn being the extreme example. Little, narrow minds given too much attention and a voice by the media to speak about what they feel is good for Americans and our great, free, democratic country. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if he were branded a traitor and forced to go with Chavez and make his living in Venezuela, and of course get some “top notch” attention paid to his own rectal issues there? He is just a mean and spoiled brat.
myna commented:
Let’s have a petition drive to encourage Sean Penn move to Venezuela. Time to man up, Sean. This is a free country.Nobody is keeping you here.
Robert commented:
Shawan penn is a mouthy brat who doesn’t deserve the time of day. And he is all proud about helping the stupid Haitians, yet along with the rest of the liberal establishment he has ignored the catastrophe in Chile. What, does he suffer from Selective Compassion Syndrome?
The independent and self-sufficient Chileans seem to be fending as best they can, not crying and complaining and chopping each other up like the benighted, spoiled-rotten Haitians.
Does anyone else notice that the press has ignored the Chileans’ plight? I haven’t head of any funding drives or operations by those self-described saints, the American Red Cross.

Dear Sean, be glad that you live in the US where the media can call the Hugos of this world “dictator”, because if this wasn’t possible, you’d have disappeared in a gulag or KZ already as well.
@Robert
It’s funny, the only country I’ve heard that would be ready to send help was Japan. They had rescue units ready to go to Chile, but eventually they were told “Thank you, but we can handle it.”
jorgen commented:
Actors should not speak unless they have a script. But OK, if he doesn’t like the word dictator: Chavez is a tyrant!
Happy now?

Greetings:
My favorite Sean Penn anecdote comes from back during one of Mr. Penn’s longer relationships, that with one Saddam Hussein of Iraq. While Mr. Penn was busy pacificating for the aforementioned Mr. Hussein, he found himself in need of some bodily sustenance. So, off Mr. Penn, a San Francisco Bay area resident, goes in his favorite hot rod to luncheon in beautiful downtown Berkeley (aka Bezerkeley), CA. Mr. Penn was, apparently, unaware of some of the “wealth redistribution” customs in Berkeley and returned from his repast to find his vehicle properly expropriated. In reporting the redistribution to the local constabulary, in order, no doubt, to receive the appropriate commendation, Mr. Penn admitted to having two pistols in the trunk of his vehicle. Pacifism, but flexible pacifism if you please.
AuntieMadder commented:
Sean Penn’s just another idiotic actor. Worse, he hasn’t played a memorable role since Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

Conversacion Ayers Parte 7
[Luis Bonilla-Molina y Bill Ayers.
Traducción: Chesa Boudin]
Chesa Boudin, radical chic Rhodes scholar.
[Boudin's parents are Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, who were members of the violent 1960s radical group the Weather Underground. They are in prison for their part in the murder of two police officers and a guard as the result of a robbery of a Brinks armored car in New York at the late, unradical date of 1981.
[..]
To make clear he has embraced the ideology of all his parents, he observes: “We have a different name for the war we’re fighting now—now we call it the war on terrorism, then they called it the war on communism. My parents were all dedicated to fighting U.S. imperialism around the world. I’m dedicated to the same thing.”]
