How’s that hopey-changey thing working out for ya?
Health premiums are expected to rise 17% for young adults under Obamacare.
The AP reported:
Health insurance premiums for young adults are expected to rise about 17 percent once they’re required to buy insurance four years from now. That estimate is from an analysis by Rand Health.
Young people will need to carry more of the burden of health care under the new health overhaul law. The new law limits an industry practice of charging older customers more.
Even so, the pluses could outweigh the minuses. Some 2 million people under age 26 should qualify for coverage under their parents’ health plans. And Medicaid expansion will insure 9 million more young adults.
This looks like a good place to plug Jason Mattera‘s new book–

Most of those folks are eligible for their own health insurance. This just shifts the bill to mom and dad, whereas if the “kids” had to pay for it themselves, they’d skip it.
It’s just another way of increasing the pool to subsidize healthcare for older patients.

Always having to point out the pluses. Thank you, AP. You’re slobbering love for Obama does not show whatsoever.

Medicaid? I don’t know about that. You can not drive a nice car and get Medicaid. My niece is 19 and she got health insurance for about $80 a month. Young people can get catastrophic insurance for not a lot of money.
Young people voted for Obama thinking they would get free health care. They will find out that nothing is free. It is a lesson they really need to learn. Someone, somewhere has to pay.
Elly commented:
Conservative analysts have been saying that this would happen. I agree with Terrye. So many of today’s youth have gotten behind this president. Unfortunately, it’s going to be an expensive “I told ya so.”

Like Social Security (now officially insolvent with more money going out than coming in and relying on presenting chits to itself) and Medicare (long ago a ward of a bankrupt state), the young are being bamboozled by the Duke of Marlboro.
We can call it Madoff Care. At least, Bernie is in prison.

Isn’t it interesting that so many people in this administration argued that old people are SO EXPENSIVE that we should just let them die instead of dragging out those last few expensive weeks of life…
yet they think it’s unfair to charge those expensive old people more money for their expensive care. Instead, the healthy young people are supposed to pay more than they need to in order to subsidize the expensive old people.
The administration’s idea of fair is: everyone contributes the same amount. A rational person’s idea of fair is: everyone contributes proportionally to their degree of risk.

This OT but extremely important. Analysis shows that the Republican candidate in FL-19 can win in the special election on April 13th. He needs our help and support. This is another Scott brown opportunity. We have just two weeks to weigh in. See http://conservativebadlands.blogspot.com/2010/03/next-scott-brown.html for details on why we can do this.

I know – isn’t that… ahem… putting them in perpetual adolescence? Lots of 26-year-olds have children by then as well!
Insufficiently Sensitive commented:
What’s this with adults up to 26 leeching off their parents’ health plan?
Oh! Lightbulb! It shifts the cost to their parents’ employer [UNFUNDED MANDATE, eg theft]. And it spares these supposed ‘adults’ from having to pay for their own plan, meaning they give thanks to Obama in the form of votes.
Nothing cynical, crooked or infantilizing in this bill, no sir. But tar and feathers should be mandated for the jerks who wrote it.

So many of these
“kids” think that this is the free health care they were promised. I think this is going to get real ugly.

Funny, when liberal perverts want to have sex with 12 year olds, they deem them “adults” who can make their own choices. Just ask the UNFPA, or your nearest mosque.

Spread it around.
The sure do look, ah, ‘union-y’ and ‘mob-ish’. Got that eight-steak-eatin’ mafioso thug look about ‘em. Holding signs which cross the line. Interesting article and pics.
Boy, oh, boy do I wish we had access to computers which could scan these photos against others. Everyone’s doing comparisons with other photos from the rally in question, and from other Tea Party rallies. How about people start cross-checking photos from pro-Obama rallies, even going back a year. Or from Labor rallies. I mean COME ON, just LOOK at these dudes.

Just think, when Obama takes over the auto insurance industry, my teenaged son will pay the same rate as his grandma. Does that sound fair?
