One hour of your life– wasted.
After interviewing tickler Eric Massa (D-NY) for an hour Glenn Beck apologized to America.
“Sorry, I’ve wasted your time.”

FOX News reported:
Massa told Fox News that, yes, he groped a male staffer — but not sexually.
“Not only did I grope him, I tickled him until he couldn’t breathe and then four guys jumped on top of me,” he said. “It was my 50th birthday. It was ‘kill the old guy.’ You can take anything out of context.”
Massa has previously claimed his misconduct was limited to using inappropriate language with staffers.
Massa’s interview came after the former New York Democrat alleged that party leaders conspired to force him out of office so they would have an easier time approving the health care reform bill.
In a radio interview Sunday, Massa described himself as the “deciding vote” on health care.

I would guess that the Dems made a deal with Massa that if he gave Beck a frivolous interview they would let the ethics charges just die quietly with minimum embarrassment. I did not see the interview but I got the impression that Massa was attempting to play into the ‘insanity’ narrative that the press is pushing.

He most certainly was not going to answer Glenn’s questions directly enough. He kept trying to make it sound that he was the one at fault and everything centered around him. Sorry. Typical politician that we don’t want or need.
A waste? Maybe, but confirmation for sure. But only of the one being interviewed.
I could see how frustrated Glenn was getting as the hour dragged along. For me, about 44 minutes. (TIVO is a wonderful machine.)

I watched the interview, it was painful and I can sympathize with him as a former detective. Here is what I posted-
Beck reached out and got bit. At least he tried and as HOTAIR pointed out around the halfway mark you could see him deflate as it sunk in he wasn’t going to get anything new.
The trouble is that Massa had a point. He tells Glenn it is all corrupt. He tells Glenn they spend half their time groveling for cash and actually getting points on how to do it more effectively from the “head office”. Beck seemed to blow past this because we all know they do it. Then he talked about the arm twisting and again Beck blows by it.
It was like if Glenn was trying to interview a mobster and was saying, “Okay beyond the murder, kidnapping, drug dealing and extortion, what do you do that’s criminal?”
Massa looked confused, as the mobster would be. Glenn was looking for something specific that Massa mentioned before and refused to talk about today. Glenn mentioned that there could have been four criminal counts brought against Rahm after conferring with Judge Napolitano. I had this happen to me more than once, a CI comes in with a great story we get all excited because it can break the case wide open and then we realize he’s only trying to get from under his own troubles by using us.
Glenn Beck is not a cop. He didn’t see it coming; he only saw the opportunity to break the case.
It happens.

I think that Beck made that statement to keep the liberal press off of his case for having the guy on. He didn’t want to appear to be lapping up everything Massa said, a la MSM and Levi Johnston. I saw the show and it’s clear that the more Massa speaks, the more he incriminates himself. However, he made great points about the corruption in DC, especially regarding Rahm “Dead Fish” Emmanual.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. The number of arrogant, immoral, unethical, self-important moron politicians in this country that lack self-control and maturity is an embarrassment to all Americans (well, at least those of us that aren’t like them). This is the best we can do?!? Guys like Eric Massa, Mark Foley, Nancy Pelosi, Larry Craig, Harry Reid, William Jefferson, Eliot Spitzer, Mark Sanford, etc.?!? I could go on and on listing various current and former politicians of both parties — though I think there are decidely more from the Democrat side — but you get the point. The fact that the quality of my life and the lives of all my friends and family are impacted by these losers aggravates me to no end. We have nearly 310 million people in this country and these are the types of people that end up representing us?!? Talk about pathetic and depressing.

I’m going to preface by saying that I do not like Beck. Yes, his interview was a failure from the standpoint that there was no bombshell. But it was not a waste. It was the perfect display of your Democrat party America.
This slimeball had a ton to say and said nothing. Nothing.

Does anyone find it a bit odd that the Washington Post released an article saying that Massa had supposedly “groped” a male staffer right before the Beck interview?
I read the article and it was time stamped 3:30 PM, which would have been 1 1.2 hours before the Beck interview. (Beck gave a vague reference to the article in the beginning of the interview)
I just went back and looked at the article again, and the time stamp has been removed. But I read it prior to the Beck show so I know the article was released before then.
Yesterday, Beck said he spoke with Massa for a half hour and would have him on today. I do not think Beck would have had Massa on simply so Massa could dodge the tough questions and I really think he must have told Beck that he was going to sing like a canary.
Could the WP article been a shot across Massa’s bow that if he said anymore than he already has the “powers” were going to use scorch and burn tactics to completely destroy him personally?
Something was very wrong, and Beck’s face showed it. I think Massa put the screws to Beck. We can only surmize why.

FYI, I just checked the comments section of the WP article. The first comment was time stamped 2:59 13. That means the article was released just two hours before the Beck interview.
Someone (Rahm staffer?) tipped the WP off to the lastest claims about Massa.
Why? He had already resigned. What was the point, other than maybe trying to discourage him from saying anything about this administration, and the Dem leadership, on Beck?

It’s possible that the very reason there are so many arrogant, immoral, unethical, self-important morons is that those are exactly the type of people that a corrupt party can keep in line because they know where ALL the skeletons are buried. If the party doesn’t support and fund you, you don’t have a chance to GET to DC. Do you? They go along because there’s something ON every last one of them. They can all be blackballed, blackmailed, or run out. Just like Massa. And they can be intimidated into shutting up. It’s the Chicago way.

Massa gets publically sodomized by his own party, and he still refuses to roll on the Democrat God fathers and give up the goods for the good of the country. This evening didn’t seem a wasted hour, nor do I believe it taints Glenn Beck; it was one interview that failed. The program was a useful demonstration of just how deeply dishonest and dishonorable the former congressman is, but that doesn’t seem to be something to feel smug or gleeful about. It is incredibly disheartening to know that Massa is just one of many such creatures running our country.
It seemed clear to me very early that Mr. Beck was expecting a different interview. I believe he gave Massa a chance to tell the truth, a word I don’t believe Massa even knows how to spell. Beck asked more than once why Massa didn’t want to fight for his honor. The replies were terribly shabby and lame. Either Massa has no honor, or he’s been “gotten to.” Or both. I feel deep empathy for his family.
Beck’s apology to his audience is something you don’t see. It was unnecessary: in America, we’re still free to change the channel.
A very interesting hour and “archer52″s observations seem “right” to me…

In the Beck interview Massa says he was rooming with 4 of his staffers in DC “to save money” but later ended that arrangement. Lets me two of the staffers:
Lets meet Joe Caralto, who was working at 50k per year for Barney Frank as “senior legislative advisor” and then was hired as Massa’s Chief of Staff at $136,000 per year. Caralto was one of the highest paid staffers in Congress overnight in 2009 working for freshman Massa.
Then, Massa deputy staffer Ron Hikel of Toronto Canada joins Massa’s staff at $50,000.00 per year in 2009 after donating about $26,000 total between Obama and Massa in the 2007-8 cycle. Who donates all that money to get a $50,000 per year job? Hikel is apparently a US citizen or dual. He donated money to Canadian pols when working in Toronto.
Emmanuel and other DNC hacks had to have known of Massa’s tendencies including his apparent sefl control problem when he was recruited to run for congress in 2008. These interviewers should be asking about these two staffers like how they were hired, why the salaries, who recommended, etc. When Massa voted against Obama on health cap n trade, etc, they started to play super rough??

I would not like to be told that someone wasted an hour speaking to me. If Glenn Beck didn’t get what he wanted out of Massa it was his fault. You can’t invite someone on your program then act as if you’re doing them a favor allowing them airtime. He made me more sympathic to Massa. I have read other accounts of Emanuel’s antics so I believe Massa on this.

Hmmmm after reading some of the comments here I understand why Glenn used the phrase “you people” yesterday when talking to MM. I know he didn’t mean to direct that at MM, but I can certainly understand both that and MM’s reply that “we’re all on the same side.” I agree, but the way some of you go on I wouldn’t know that.
Get your priorities right and focus on the goal. We need to clean the sleeze and the socialism (and the progressivism) out of our government. If it takes making mistakes and falling on swords to do that, then lets have a bit of compassion for those making those sacrifices.
In the end, I’d rather go through life hoping to find a tiny bit of humanity in a person (what Glenn was hoping for, I think in terms of a coming clean from Massa) and get burnt in the process than to stop hoping to find that in people. I’ll risk making a fool of myself in others’ eyes (if that is what you think Glenn did) than let my cynicism cut off all possibility. Those of you who want to smack someone else for taking that risk must live sad and bitter lives.

Just watching that brief clip of the conclusion of the hour’s interview is instructive.
Glenn Beck looks very disappointed, so perhaps his guest had mislead him prior to devoting the entire program to his interview. Millions are watching, and if anyone has a right to be furious, it would be Beck. Consider what any other big-time TV show commentator would do or say; we’ve seen some wild displays of out-of-control pundits in the last years; throwing microphones across the room, stomping out in a rage, etc.
Nonetheless, Beck turns to the TV and apologizes to his audience for wasting their time, yet even then lets his guest have the last word, thanks him, shakes his hand, wishes him well, and his family also.
Glenn’s deep-down response shows humility, honesty and a sincere respect and warmth to others that is rare in national media, and I’m grateful for what he’s doing for America. Thank you Glenn.

Re: Beck calling Geert Wilders a fascist–Unbelievable. Wilders is risking his life over the sharia takeover of Europe, and Beck is travelling around charging admission to his chats with O’Reilly.

If there’s anything I can say about the Left, they take that solidarity stuff seriously. As often as ego-fueled feuds take place on their side of the fence, at least they all understand they are on the same side with the same goal.
