How’s that hopey-changey stuff working out for ya?

Thanks Barack. The US is less respected today than during the Bush McHitlerburton days.
HotAir and The Washington Times reported:

A majority of Americans say the United States is less respected in the world than it was two years ago and think President Obama and other Democrats fall short of Republicans on the issue of national security, a new poll finds.

The Democracy Corps-Third Way survey released Monday finds that by a 10-point margin — 51 percent to 41 percent — Americans think the standing of the U.S. dropped during the first 13 months of Mr. Obama’s presidency.

“This is surprising, given the global acclaim and Nobel peace prize that flowed to the new president after he took office,” said pollsters for the liberal-leaning organizations.

On the national security front, a massive gap has emerged, with 50 percent of likely voters saying Republicans would likely do a better job than Democrats, a 14-point swing since May. Thirty-three percent favored Democrats.

“The erosion since May is especially strong among women, and among independents, who now favor Republicans on this question by a 56 to 20 percent margin,” the pollsters said in their findings.

Obama boasted Monday that Democrats’ health care proposals would cut deficits by $1 trillion “over the next decade,” a flub that inflated the actual estimate by $868 billion

If The Great Communicator can’t even get his own information correct, how are we supposed to trust the government to run this atrocity?

Funny how he blames the Obamacare’s poor reception on his failure to communicate his plan clearly to the unwashed masses, then goes and flubs his own signature issue.

  7. And we’re surprised by this? This president is a disgrace.

I saw that. Too funny. What a dope!
    Too smart by half.

  9. You deal from STRENGTH. By doing so you have at least a chance to win. If you deal from weakness, you will ALWAYS lose.

  10. Who was it that said every now and then American has to elect a Democrat to remember just how bad they really are?

Poor Obama, he just can’t seem to catch a break.

Guess all that hype he was fed, and believed, about being the next JFK/FDR all rolled into one, is not working out too well.

But what did anyone expect? Obama’s never held a job that didn’t require Saul Alinsky styled tactics.

  11. U ain’t seen nottin’ yet, my name is Bozo the sissy-raging Clown, and my plan is to destroy America’s reputation wholly and complete. If you pus**s Patriots and Christians pi** me – off I will sick Rham [ Thug] on your a** in your shower!

  12. Perhaps it is not the US people, but the federal government and leftism and statism, that the world respects less as time goes on. After all, several years ago, France, Germany, and others elected more conservative leaders while we had Republican control. Now, as we contest the aims of the American enemies of freedom, we see the English having Tea Parties.

  13. Wait for it…..

    It’s Bush’s fault!

  14. Consider who is answering the questions. Instead of asking foreigners how much they respect the US, the survey asks Americans how much foreigners respect the US.

    How are they to know?

The only thing I get from this article is that “The Democracy Corps-Third Way” does not know how to frame a meaningful survey question.

  15. If the choice is between being feared or being respected, I choose being feared. Respect is something that can be faked.

Our enemies overseas knew Bush had an “itchy trigger finger” and didn’t wait around for all the information before attacking.

On the otherhand they see Obama bowing before the muslims, bowing before women and they take that as a sign of weakness.

Even the french consider obama weak. They hated Bush, but they didn’t insult him publicly.

  16. As Valerie says, this survey doesn’t reflect the US’s levels of respect. That means that the headline of this piece is without foundation. I’m not a regular here – is that typical of the quality standard here?

  17. “This is surprising, given the global acclaim and Nobel peace prize that flowed to the new president after he took office,” said pollsters for the liberal-leaning organizations.

Yeah, well most people know he got that Nobel Peace Prize for absolutely nothing. That right there made plenty of people mad.

  18. Paulh

The survey did give us an idea how Americans perceive the rest of the world’s opinion. That is more important than finding out how the rest of the world really feels about us because the majority of Americans don’t really care about their opinion. This is bad news for Obama. Since this is a left leaning poll, I wonder how much was fudged in Obama’s favor.

We have our opinions and you have yours. If it bothers you to hear ours, I would suggest that you might be happier if you would go to another site with like minded people.

Let me be clear, my Hope and Change is working. American is crappier that it was two years ago – thanks to me! And, I hope to make it even more crappier.

If I have said it 10 times I have said it a Thousand times, America sucks! It sucks more that it did two years ago. Thank you. Good day.

  21. Well, well, well. I’m surprised at this report. But what do I know? I’ve lived abroad a scant 23 of the past 25 years (the last 20 nonstop). In one of those really different parts of the world: East and Southeast Asia.

If news reports, local polls, what my local friends and my foreign friends’ local friends say, the occasional anecdote, etc. mean anything, we’re sure riding high here.

And I have a number of other friends from other countries who report that when they return to their country of origin, they’re struck by the shift towards the positive among their fellow countrymen as regards opinions of the U.S. They’re also struck by the more positive news coverage, overall.

But, I guess someone who has never even traveled abroad, much less lived out the U.S., could know that, and I would hazard to guess that a fair number of American citizens responding in U.S. surveys have no way of knowing that, really, given the U.S.-centric nature of the media.

The world out here is a whole lot more comfortable than people think it is, and for sure more comfortable than not long ago, whether that was fair or not.

  22. BarbaraS – I’ve no problem hearing your opinions, in fact that’s why I come to sites like this (as well as left-leaning sites that I often don’t agree with either). It’s just disappointing to see a headline that is clearly incorrect, thereby distorting a story that is, as you say, important.

  26. So you don’t see a problem with the poll asking AMERICANS about the INTERNATIONAL OPINION of America?

Wouldn’t it be more prudent and less disingenuous for the pollsters to ask foreign nationals about their opinion?

Stop lapping up garbage, people. Learn to read.

  27. As a Canuck, I can tell you.. you are far worse off with Obama than Bush. Bush was at least honest with the public, though hated for his stands. But then, folks on this site know that. That is why I lurk, to see what intelligent people know, not the Obama worshippers who drank the Koolaid. They say if the American people had KNOWN what Obama stood for they would not have ever elected him. I believe that is so. The record low approval ratings, like minus 21 from Rasmussen recently, show that. Americans dislike having the wool pulled over their eyes and it does not last long. Nothing like a lying MSM to make the entire country go to pot.. and little brother Canada pays a price also. If our big brother next door gets a cold, you can expect Canada to sneeze.. Hopefully we both can recover our health soon.

  28. “Americans don’t care about the opinion of foreigners, so they ask each other”

What’s the point of this poll then?

    And…you quoted foxnews.com for data? Hold on….HAHAHAHAHAHAAA

If you know what a Communist is come to Europe and ask people. You over there have obviously no clue about that.
