Ya think?… Was this really a surprise?
An internal Toyota memo ridiculed the radicals in the White House and Congress for their unfriendly industry practices.

The Politico reported:

Internal Toyota documents derided the Obama administration and Democratic Congress as “activist” and “not industry friendly,” a revelation that comes days before the giant automaker’s top executives testify on Capitol Hill amid a giant recall.

According to a presentation obtained under subpoena by the House Oversight and Government Relations committee, Toyota referred to the “changing political environment” as one of its main challenges and anticipated a “more challenging regulatory” environment under the Obama administration’s purview.

This document, in addition to piles of other records, will be front and center this week as the Japanese automaker girds to face lawmakers hungry for answers about a recall that has the company teetering.

  1. Wow, they’re a little slow catchin’ on.

  2. I had a Dodge van a few years back it had 5 recall on it.I never heard a word about it until i recieve a notice in the mail never heard a word on the rabio or T.V. about the recall.I wonder if any Purple shirts hanging around those cars.

  3. I predict more regulations and taxes to help Toyota make a deal with the UAW.

And all we can do is hope for a change in November.
    Not ONE vote for Democrats.
    Anywhere. At any level.

  4. DUH, if you cannot buy a manufacturing plant and make it work the next step is to distroy the competition. this way the serfs have no option but the Government Motor Company. Boxing the gullible Americans in and hoping they do not notice before it is too late.

  5. i’ve got an 05 ford taurus with 50,000 miles on it.
looking to trade for an 05 camry with 100,000 miles. even-up.

    any takers?

  6. Doesn’t look like ridicule, it looks like a threats opportunities analysis. Every company has to do this in its strategic analysis. And its accurate, especially the “Massive support for US Automakers?

  7. No doubt they knew this memo would leak.

With that said, no joke, this will be a bumpy ride for them. I hope they come fighting, but somehow, I can’t see Toyota doing that.

If the workers at the Toyota plants in the US become angry about this, whereas, they may lose their jobs because of Obama and his thug union army, this could turn in their/our favor.

Not all union workers support Obama, nor the the thugs that steal their money for dues, then turn around and illegally use them for political gain. There are some decent people left… Hopefully we can count on them to speak up, and especially with their votes.

  8. Why do I have the feeling that I’m living through something from an Ayn Rand novel (Atlas Shrugged in particular)? The Obamanots and the UAW smell blood in the water. They won’t rest until they drive Toyota into the ground or out of the U.S. I live in the SF Bay Area. The local press is constantly running stories about how evil Toyota is closing the NUMMI plant in Fremont and putting the workers out on the street. None of them ever mention that GM backed out of the NUMMI agreement first and they’re just as responsible for its failure.

  9. When will this nightmare end?

  10. Amazing how easy it is to find and publish Toyota proprietary records and correspondence and the public still haven’t seen one single transcript, paper, or record of Obama from his various schools and his law review tenure…priorities?

  11. Wonderful point, Opaobie #12!

Toyota vehicles have had outstanding reputations, and as soon as I’m able I intend to purchase a Toyota pickup — they’re hard to get on the used market, as anyone that has one wants to keep it!!! Obviously, all the current Toyota recalls are political…
    .

  12. Honda will be next.

    …………………………………………………………..
Say it the only way that’s left to us. Don’t buy another General Motors Collective automobile.
Only way I know of for the consumer/citizen to go “John Galt”.

  14. Obama did this ; they knew about these ‘small ‘ instances — but it is part of the plan to take over the US auto industry. I wish Obama would jump off a cliff right now. This is the worst peice of sh*t to ever hold the office of the presidency.

  15. Who says the “computerized” brakes and accelerator problems were not intentionally programmed somehow?

Nothing would surprise most of us at this point.

  16. Note to Congress:

Destroy Toyota. Go after Ford next.

We must make sure that the only option to Americans is with Governement, er, I mean, General Motors.

    Yours,

    Barack Hussein Obama

  17. Funny thing is no Obamabot would ever own a GM car. I’m a knuckle draggin’ rethuglican and I own a suburban and a metro. I’ll never buy a govt motors car and neither will the trustfund hippies that put the one in office.

  18. HELLO!

It took them this long to catch on? Or they thought if they made nice to the crocodile it might eat them last?

  19. I think the CIA term is neutralize. Be ready Ford, Honda.

  20. Welcome to the dance. Toyota.

I work in the oil refining industry – the target on our back just keeps getting bigger and bigger……

  21. I have owned 3 Toyotas and will own more in the future.

  22. @Jo, you really don’t want The One to jump off a cliff, unless he takes Biden and Pelosi with him.

@Anneke9 Gee, ya think that the UAW had anything to do with NUMMI’s problems? I’ve had the misfortune to accidentally listen to NBC/KNTV if they get any more LEFT they’ll be broadcasting out of Bezerkly.

Remember kids, no ‘Dems’ and NO RINO’s. Let’s try for some honest people for a change.

  23. this is corporatist government in action. this is what fascism looks like folks, once the populace begins to catch on and resist, these “progressives” will try to resort to force. be ready.

  24. At least Toyota understands it. Unlike the rest of the world.

Curious how long it’ll take for them to pull out of the US.

What I find funny is that, in Toyota’s case, media is making a huge riot over this, while in the case of other car companies, media is usually rather silent.

Heck, my parents were in Switzerland once, with their new VW Passat, and when they were going home… the car locked them out. They had everything in the car already and it locked them out. Right there in the middle of Switzerland. German quality. In the mean time, my fahter had plenty of call backs for his Passat. Yet no media outlet talks about that. Honestly, I sense some underlying racism in how western media deals with Toyota.

  25. OMG. Another wave of lay-offs coming soon. Time to VOTE OUT all democrats. The political climate is not conducive for big and small businesses.

  26. Better late than never. I want to get rid of my GM and get a Toyota. But they need to come out with a big, 4 wheel drive truck or SUV that is a gas guzzler and does NOT drive on ethanol.
Come on Toyota, get with it. Big is better on the road. None of this plug in, ride around on corn stuff.

  27. Selective leak of info (perhaps not by Toyota) to make the Obama administration look better. After all, Liberals would hate to see the #1 automaker in the world deal with an activist government.

  28. Is this all due to Toyota closing a plant which happened to be the only unionized plant in the states.

  29. The Japanese don’t mince words. They call a duck a duck.
But it’s not something we didn’t already know, it’s a strange bunch of people in the whitehouse everyone from ballerinas to molesters.
