Operation “Cut-and-Run?”
Operation “Don’t Stay Over Genocide?”
Team Obama announced yesterday that they will give Operation Iraqi Freedom a new name… But it won’t be “Victory.” That’s one word the cut-and-runners will never use.
ABC’s Political Punch reported:
ABC News has learned that the Obama administration has decided to give the war in Iraq — currently known as Operation Iraqi Freedom — a new name.
The new name: “Operation New Dawn.”
In a February 17, 2010, memo to the Commander of Central Command, Gen. David Petraeus, Defense Secretary Robert Gates says the “requested operation name change is approved to take effect 1 September 2010, coinciding with the change of mission for U.S. forces in Iraq.”
You can read the memo — a copy of which was sent to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen – HERE.
Gates writes that by changing the name at the same time as the change of mission — the scheduled withdrawal of U.S. combat troops — the US is sending “a strong signal that Operation IRAQI FREEDOM has ended and our forces are operating under a new mission.”
The move, Gates writes, “also presents opportunities to synchronize strategic communication initiatives, reinforce our commitment to honor the Security Agreement, and recognize our evolving relationship with the Government of Iraq.”
Earlier this week, Team Obama tried to take credit for the success in Iraq even though both Biden* and Obama voted against the successful surge that stabilized the country. That’s not all. Biden caused rioting and protests when he pushed legislation to divide Iraq into three countries. Barack Obama told supporters in 2007 that, “Preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn’t a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there.”

Let’s give B-HO a little credit for continuing the Bush foreign policy in Iraq and accelerating the use of drones in Pakistan.
Honestly, does anyone think this is the “Obama Doctrine” at work in Iraq? We all know what the “Obama Doctrine” is in Iran: Ass-smooching and bending over, with a liberal amount of empty threats.

You ever notice that politicians like to take credit for the hard work of eighteen to twenty year old young men and women? Yet, when the effort fails or stumbles the same politicians can’t brush back their hair plugs and find the nearest microphone quick enough to spout how they knew all along it was doomed?
This is shades of Bush’s “mission accomplished” moment. New Dawn? For what? Getting blown up by an IED fashioned in Iran and planted by AQ remnants?
Seems to me it should be, “Get Comfortable, we are going to be here a while” I know, too long.

The renaming makes sense. The Marxist-in-chief does not like a nasty word such as “Freedom”.

The name is probably to match the team Obama logo with the sun rising. Narcissists!

Obama needs to rename his logo:
Operation Sunset in November 2010. His political power is WANING. And his lack of support for U.S. foreign policy goals only makes it worse.

It’s a “New Dawn” coming to Iraq all right.
And that ain’t a good thing.
“It was only one killing, but it unleashed the demons of a bitter and perhaps unfinished past.”
“The victim was a Sunni man in the mostly Shiite neighborhood of Hurriyah, in northwest Baghdad. The death and the aftermath were reminiscent of the prelude to the sectarian war, which began in late 2005 with a smattering of killings and threats and culminated with 100 bodies a day being dumped in the streets of the capital. With the imminent departure of American forces and fierce competition for power ahead of general elections on March 7, many here say sectarian strife is reigniting.”

Yep, one the “biggest accomplishments of this administration” all right.

This feels a bit as if Jimmy Carter were to announce to the world that he brought America victory in the Vietnam War — another war that the leftists were relentless in demanding that it be cancelled and the troops brought home.
Well, at least he isn’t calling it “Bush’s Folly” or something. Yet. I guess if Iran invades and takes over Iraq, Obama will be back to blaming Bush.

Hmmm…. I was thinking that they were naming it after dishwashing soap, but the latest revision of that brand is “Dawn Ultra”. I think “New Dawn” was back in the 80s…
