The Taliban blew up 16 schools in February including a boy’s high school that was blown up on Friday.
The Daily Times reported:

Taliban have blown up 16 schools in the tribal regions of Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber and Dara Adamkhel during February, NWFP Education Minister Sardar Hussain Babak told AFP. The latest government boys’ high school to be attacked was blown up on Friday in the Mohmand Agency, officials said.

  1. I remember a short while before 9/11, the Taliban destroyed the Buddhist statues—they were not scared of anything.

This doesn’t sound like the acts of an organization on its heels. It sounds like an emboldened group of cretins.

Guess they don’t much fear the global contingency operation of the US government.

  2. They are not afraid to die. Upon death they get virgins and running water.

  3. I think the coalition forces should just give the Taliban fighters what they want – a free trip to hell in many pieces.

  4. Both the efforts to blow them up and the efforts needed to rebuild the schools will be counted in Obama’s total of “jobs created or saved”….

  5. “The Taliban blew up 16 schools in February including a boy’s high school…”

Since they aren’t just attacking schools for girls, they also blew up a boy’s high school, I guess that qualifies them as the moderate Taliban that Obama wants to include in the Afghan government.

    Smart diplomacy!

  6. Taliban wants none smarter than them …

  7. Doesn’t Taliban mean “Student”? What are they the Teachers Union of Afghanistan?

Taliban wants none smarter than them …

    Hence the inbreeding.

  9. big deal, the “democrats” have blown up the entire U.S educational system in less than 40 years and have gotten away with it too.

  10. @ Snake eater

    Fair point…

  11. Damn, where is a roaming predator drone when you need one? Oh, kinda like when you need a COP. wise up folks, your the COP or interested party when onsite. Take full advantage of your rights before your a statistic.

  12. In Iraq, Al-Qaeda murdered teachers in front of their students, in order to intimidate their parents.

  13. OT,

Judge Penfield Jackson says we ought to try KSM in DC.

    He raises some good points”

“I submit that the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia is the most appropriate alternative forum for this trial. KSM’s crimes were committed against the entire nation, and it is fitting that the nation’s capital should host his trial.

The attorney general should reject the suggestion that Mohammed be tried by a military commission at Guantanamo Bay or anywhere else. His crimes were civil, not military. Mohammed owed no allegiance to any flag, nor did he wear the uniform of any country. He answered to no code of military honor or of the law of war. His targets and victims were innocent civilians who had never sought to harm him. His weapons were four stolen commercial civilian aircraft. He was not captured on a battlefield; he was hunted down like any common felon, hiding in disguise among civilians in a city far removed from military activity.”

This second point is a good one: this SOB isn’t good enough to be tried as if he were part of any legitimate military organization.

This is the best essay, and the best set of reasons I have encountered on why that POS should be tried in a civil court.

  14. Last I knew, the Pak ISI has built quite a few masadra’s in AFG and was running them. Guess that means that our ‘military aid’ will go to 1- funding further ISI construction projects and 2- help fund the ‘teachers’ that the ISI would recruit to teach in these new schools (READ: the Taleban)….Let’s not forget the ISI based curriculum that they’ll implement. I’m sure that it will be very ‘diverse.’

  15. These people have no honor.

  16. I guess they don’t have a safe school czar.

  17. Was that a part of the Bozo budget cuts?

  18. TALIBAN killers have blown themselves up laying booby-trap bombs. Up to 20 are thought to have died planting Improvised Explosive Devices….and sometimes the bear gets you….

  19. Ah,they’re doing the Lord’s work!

  20. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Didn’t the Cream of the Liberal Crop in Massachusettes, Martha Coakley, assure us that the Taliban was gone in Afghanistan?

Somebody needs to tell the Boards of Education in Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber and Dara Adamkhel Province. Must have been the work of vandals.

  21. ++

just a reminder that Afghanistan isn’t
    as far away
    as our perception of it..

    School Threat

[* According to two trainers at an anti-terrorism conference on the East Coast, preparations for attacks on American schools that will bring rivers of blood and staggering body counts are well underway in Islamic terrorist camps.

    * The intended attackers have bluntly warned us they’re going to do it.

    * They’re already begun testing school-related targets here.

    * They’ve given us a catastrophic model to train against, which we’ve largely ignored and they’ve learned more deadly tactics from.

    [..]

Al-Qaeda has publicly asserted the “right” to kill 2,000,000 American children, Rassa explained, and has warned that “operations are in stages of preparation” now. He played vivid videotapes confiscated in Afghanistan, showing al-Qaeda terrorists practicing the takeover of a school. The trainees issue commands in English, rehearse separating youngsters into manageable groups and meeting any resistance with violence. Some “hostages” are taken to the rooftop, dangled over the edge, then “shot.”]

Computer disc found in Iraq contained U.S. school plans 10/8/2004

[Federal law enforcement authorities notified school districts in six states last month that a computer disc found in Iraq contained photos, floor plans and other information about their schools, two U.S. officials said Thursday.

    [..]

The disc contained an Education Department report called “Practical Information on Crisis Planning: A Guide for Schools and Communities,” published in May 2003, as well as photos and floor plans.]

    The Ends Islamist Terrorists Seek

[The entire goal of Al Qaeda-type monsters is to provoke a reaction from mainstream America by pursuing evil against those who stand in the way of imposing theocracy. These fascists have no value for life other than that it's simply a means to their end of a totalitarian theocratic state. It is their ideology. In their warped view of religion they are God.

These are not the actions of psychopaths. Instead, they are the calculated actions of those seeking power and those afraid of freedom. They know that liberty's greatest weakness is its wide exposure to attacks against noncombatants (i.e., you and me) and the way in which protections against those attacks alter the very liberties we all seek to protect.

    [snip]

If American Muslims declare open war against Al Qaeda, Americans will rush to defend our mosques rather than allow them to be burned. Otherwise, with rage and vengeance, the freedoms so protected by our Constitution will quickly dissipate into a nation gripped by fear and hate of the “other.” And that is the ultimate goal of such horrific acts: to create a reaction which ultimately destroys the very fabric of our nation-the trust of one another, under God, under our Constitution. The children they would kill in schools on this “Perfect Day” would be a utilitarian mechanism (ends justifying the means) to achieve the destruction of the “American” way of life.]

  22. For the last five years, Islamists have been murdering teachers (I think at times in front of their students) in southern Thailand as well. It’s not unusual for a teacher in that area to wear a loaded pistol on their hip during classes.

I wish more people were aware of this world-wide threat to education, and also that armed teachers were more common.

    Best regards, Peter Warner.

  23. What did we expect from the world’s failure to address global warming at the Copenhagen summit?

  24. Are you sure it’s not a boys’ high school?
If it’s a boy’s school it must be slightly under utilized.

  25. These people are evil. That’s all there is to it. That is why we mus continue to fight them. Because, if we aren’t there, they will still be blowing up schools and murdering innocent people. I can’t wait to go over.
