Sarah Palin explained today why she decided to speak at Tea Party Nation this weekend.
USA Today reported:

Later this week I’ll head to Nashville, where I’ll have the honor of speaking with members of the Tea Party movement. I look forward to meeting many Americans who share a commitment to limited government, common sense and personal responsibility. This movement is truly a grassroots, organic effort. It’s not a top-down organization; it’s a ground-up call to action that already has both political parties rethinking the way they do business.

From the town halls last summer to the protests and marches in the fall to the game-changing recent elections, it has been inspiring to see real people — not politicos or inside-the-Beltway professionals — speak out for common-sense conservative policies and values…

I will not benefit financially from speaking at this event. My only goal is to support the grassroots activists who are fighting for responsible, limited government — and our Constitution. In that spirit, any compensation for my appearance will go right back to the cause.

The nature of the Tea Party movement means there may never be a “perfectly orchestrated” event: Democracy in action doesn’t come with a manual. But we must not get caught up in the politics or the controversies that some hope will distract from the heart of the movement. The focus must remain on our ideas and beliefs, and on supporting those ideas and beliefs however we can.

This weekend, it’s Nashville, but in March, I’ll head to Searchlight, Nev., for the kickoff rally at the Tea Party Express III. In April, I’ll be in Boston for a Tea Party gathering there. Across the country, tea-partiers will be sharing our vision for America’s future, a vision that promotes common sense solutions to out-of-control spending and an out-of-touch political establishment.

The process may not always be pretty or perfect, but the message is loud and clear: We want a government worthy of the fine Americans that it serves. And we’re going to keep spreading that message one convention, one town hall, one speech and one election at a time.

  1. Sarah Palin has a heart as big as this country. What a woman!

  2. Living up to your commitments. What a novel idea!

Thank you, Sarah, for modeling behavior we want to see in more of our public figures.

  3. Everyday it becomes more evident the scurrilous hatchet job the effete, out of touch libtard media did on the woman during the election. If only SOBama could sound this Presidential.

  4. My favorite quality about Sarah Palin is: she is unchanging. No matter what is said, no matter how she is attacked, she always stays the course; true character at its finest.

Watching Obama and company dodge this way and that reminds me how much character and guts is takes to remain firm in one’s principles. Sarah optimizes true character. While Barack attempts to appease every audience, Sarah remains true to herself and all she believes. I am proud to have a woman like her representing a movement as genuine as the Tea Party.

Character is often claimed but seldom demonstrated. Thank you Sarah.

  5. Go Sarrahcudda Go!!!!!

  6. OT: This is good. I like this guy’s take on things. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWRPB1lPXJg

  7. Every day I admire Palin even more.

  8. Palin has endorsed Rino’s candidates (Liberal Republicans like Sen. John McCain and former Gov. Mitt Romney, for example). I thought Palin is conservative. What is Palin thinking? Is she another Rino’s? For example, she endorsed Dr. Rand Paul who is running for US Senate in Kentucky other day. Dr. Paul is not conservative. The Republican conservatives are not happy with Palin right now. It has something to do with the Tea Party. Palin won’t run in 2012. If Mitt Romney does get the nominee for the Republican Party in 2012, we will lose the election. It is the liberal news media want Romney to run again. I am concern that the Republican Party might be in trouble if we can’t find many conservatives to run for office. Most of the conservatives are member of the Independent Party. We don’t want these Rino’s in our party. They are so liberal just like the Democrats.

  9. Sarah is going to do what Sarah is going to do. I personally love the woman. However, we can never put all our hopes and dreams in one individuals basket. The Dems did that and we can all see what a disaster that has become. I do not know if she is the one for 2012, maybe. I do know this; it is not her responsibility to save this country. It is ours. We will do that by objectivly vetting each and every person that puts themselves out there. There are some great leaders in this country and I do not believe we have seen them all.

  10. Anonymous.

First time writing here, but I just LOVED your message so much, had to make a comment.
Real refreshing to see how much you really love public figures and how you would be supportive of their great services to this country.

Speak for yourself, though, when it comes to telling me who, when, where, what I should think, speak or vote.

Have a great day, mr/ms Optimist!

  11. I was glad to see her point out that things aren’t going to be perfect with the tea parties, but people can’t let petty things stop us from fundamentally changing this country BACK to the Constitution.

  12. Is the Tea Party a real political party now?
I thought it was just play off on the Boston
    Tea Party.

No. The “Tea Party” is a MOVEMENT; and is not – nor will it ever be – a “party”.
Each of the Tea Party demonstrations is an event of like-minded, Conservative patriots who want to see a strong, free America.
Their driving force is a desire to get the nanny-state federal government out of our pockets and off of our backs, so that the people who are the real strength of America can turn this recession around and people can once again realize the American Dream.

When you look at any tea party, you will find people of all races, all – or no – religious beliefs, and from different political parties. There are democrats as well as Republicans and Libertarians represented.

Tea Partiers do not adhere to any political principle other than Conservatism; and support individual candidates for office rather than any political party.

The Tea Party Movement is a collection of freedom lovers.

  14. …….she is now supporting McCain, Romney, Paul, and now Lindsey Graham……other speakers withdrew from the Tea Party engagement after hearing that she had aggressively negotiated a $100,000.00 speaking fee.
Now that it has been made public that $100,000.00 fee will be given back to the cause…..but that wasn’t the original intention.

You are starting to see small glimpses of what is behind the curtain.
