“Well, either the President misunderstood the point or he just hasn’t been well informed. If you look at the 12 years when Republicans controlled the Congress, the average annual deficit was about $104 billion. I’m not proud of that number. That’s too high. But in the three years that Democrats have controlled Congress, the average annual deficit is now $1.1 Trillion. Do the math… But when it comes to spending we’re rank amateurs compared to these guys.”

There is a difference.
Rep. Jeb Hensarling didn’t appreciate being called a liar by President Obama during his meeting with House Republicans on Friday. Today he once again set the record straight.

“I have great respect for President Obama… But, again, he didn’t answer my specific question on whether he would continue us on a path to tripling the national debt and increasing government spending to 24.5% of the economy.”UPDATE: “How did you arrive at the conclusion that what were the old annual deficits under Republicans have now become the monthly deficits under Democrats? And what is the back-up?”
In the 12 years that Republicans controlled the House, the average deficit was $104 billion (average of final deficit/surplus FY1996-FY2007 data taken from Table F-1 below). In just 3 years under Democrats, the average deficit is now almost $1.1 trillion (average of final deficit/surplus FY2008 and 2009 data taken from Table F-1; FY2010 data taken from Table 1-3). It’s just too bad that Hensarling had to come back on television to defend himself today. But he had to since the state-run media had no desire to fact-check President Obama’s inaccurate attacks on him last week.

We fiscal hawks here in Texas have known the value of Jeb Hensarling for a long time. He is an “up and coming” star and is not afraid to speak his mind. Add to him Paul Ryan and you have a dynamic duo.
The Texas GOP is well worth looking at. Hensarling, Ghommert, Barton (who was instrumental in getting Ramos and Compean pardoned), Brady and in his own quiet way, Sam Johnson who was a VC POW for over seven years.

It’s my belief that he said that in the same spirit in which obama said “With all due deference…….” before crapping on the SCOTUS justices.

I am a newly minted Republican so I will not attack them for their strategy. They are all that stands between this nation as we know it and a Banana Republic.

Obama’s people know that the economy will worsen in the next few months so the media is giving Obama cover by saying that its really hard to fix and the unemployment rate might not improve until the middle of the decade.
Meanwhile Obama will continue to redistribute the wealth and blue collar workers can sit on the butts collecting from the Govt coffers. Nice way to remain President for life.

“Those are the facts, but at the same time, obviously….you do understand”, the Republicans are just as bad as the Democrats on deficit spending.
“We’re rank amateurs compared with these guys” is the proper answer and dead on. Listen up, Joe.
Then who’s that idiot with his head in the sand wondering “don’t we need to spend more during wartime”, and “isn’t the economy in recovery”? Unbelievable.
And where does Joe get his $150 billion as the deficit number? It’s $1.7 trillion, Joe. That’s $1.7 thousand billion dollars. Last year’s budget was ghastly irresponsible; this year’s would spend $1.7 trillion more and amounts to an outright catastrophe.
