Of course it is.
Nancy Pelosi’s top health care aide admitted to the National Health Policy Conference hosted by Academy Health and Health Affairs that the bipartisan health care summit later this month is a trick.
Life News reported:
President Barack Obama has proposed a bipartisan health care summit for later this month that Republican detractors bill as a publicity stunt designed to generate more support for the flailing pro-abortion health care bill. Now, an aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi essentially admitted that’s the case.
In comments reported by Congress Daily, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s top health care aide Wendell Primus admitted top Democrats have already decided on the strategy to pass the Senate’s pro-abortion, government-run health care bill.
Primus explained that the Senate will use the controversial reconciliation strategy that will have the House approve the Senate bill and both the House and Senate okaying changes to the bill that the Senate will sign off on by preventing Republicans from filibustering.
“The trick in all of this is that the president would have to sign the Senate bill first, then the reconciliation bill second, and the reconciliation bill would trump the Senate bill,” Primus said at the National Health Policy Conference hosted by Academy Health and Health Affairs.
“There’s a certain skill, there’s a trick, but I think we’ll get it done,” he said.
Conservative columnist Connie Hair noted Primus’ remarks and called the reconciliation strategy and the White House health care summit two big “rope-a-dope” plays that are “just another in a long charade of dog and pony shows.”

If the Democrats try this the Tea Party will burn Washington DC to the ground……!!!

Barry is playing with fire but he knows his days are very limited. He has till november to run roughshod over anyone. I think the Republicans should galvanize themselves to listen and LAUGH at the appropriate moments to ridicule him in public infront of the cameras will not give them what he wants. He is going to throw you under the bus anyway (Alinsky rules). Go on attack and stay there as he is losing big time at every turn.
Ladue Pundit commented:
No cameras will roll for Mrs. Speaker’s closed door plotting, but the Republicans will be expected to show up and be (most likely) cast in an ugly light for “blocking” health care reform.

I have decided that it no longer matters whether the Democrats use these ‘dubious’ techniques to pass some form of this faux-reform bill. It’s a BAD bill.
It will NOT reduce costs nor will it really ‘reform the delivery system.
In short it will be a massive cluster****. It can’t be anything else given how it was actually developed.
Pass the thing. I dare them
All the Republicans have to do is not appear to moronic naysayers. Now I grant you that is going to be a bit of a challenge but they do have 2 more weeks to memorize something that at least sounds profound.
At this point I would say that it’s about 50/50 whether they can manage to do it.

Does nancy Dementia really think no one knows what a crock this summit is? She is the last to know no one believes it was anything than a dog and pony show that makes Obama look stupid.
Wow, Democrats not only DON”t want to ever get re-elected but they want to destroy their own party fforever too.
Jim Hlavac commented:
Just don’t show up, hold another one, and invite the president — and if he doesn’t show up say “so much for bipartisanship.” The whole point is you simply cannot negotiate or reason with a socialist, they are cads. Don’t do it Republicans, or face the consequences.

What ever happened to the origination clause of the constitution? “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives.” This health care bill definately raises significant revenue. Am I missing something or doesn’t this clause mean the house can’t just pass the senate bill since it did not originate in the house?

Reconciliation is not as easy as they pretend. If it were, this bill would be law by now. Remember, HCR was supposed to be done by the end of last July.
Wait till the Republican leadership starts offering amendments, dozens and dozens of amendments. This is nowhere near over.

Why don’t the Republicans stay away?

So they couldn’t pass the bill fair and square when they had the supermajority. Now they have to resort to trickery.

Bill Mitchell commented:
But considering this will be absolute political suicide for Dems in the House, I don’t believe they can get it through.

I’m so sick of these democrats. Let’s hope the Republicans are not fooled by Obama
Jim commented:
If there is a (D) next to their name VOTE THEM OUT. All levels. Let state and local DEMS feel the wrath as well. Make it hurt so bad no political party EVER tries this crap again.
sandy commented:
I believe that Pelosi is once again pretending for Obama that the Healthcare Bill will pass. Stupak and his 40 Conservative Dems will not go along with it. It seems that Obama is so destructive he will destroy the Democratic Party and his Presidency all because he wants something which is unattainable.
Its obvious to all but the brain dead that Obama is trying to pull a cheap trick against the Republicans therefore, it will not work. In the end Healthcare will die of Obama’s over exposure, attacks on disgruntled voters, dirty deals and a Democratic Party who thought they could control the man/child president only to find they had a tiger by the tail.
Hopefully, sanity will return in November. God knows we certainly deserve it.
sandy commented:
Jim — too right.
Robert commented:
Specter is on board with the trickery.
“I believe we ought to pass comprehensive health care reform and we ought to do it now and there is a way to do it,” Specter said. “I provided the 60th vote. We passed it in the Senate. Let the House accept it, simultaneously with a bill to make certain changes through reconciliation and 50 votes. There will be no disagreement about taking away the giveaway to Nebraska and Louisiana and the other inappropriate measures but let’s move ahead and let’s move ahead now.”
They are all worse than a den of thieves.
Robert commented:
This is legislative tomfoolery of the worst type. They would be talking about reconciliation of a bill that is not even law.
The budgetary projections produced by the Congressional Budget Office cannot evaluate the costs of amendments to a bill that does not exist. Therefore, the numbers would have to be run on existing law. These numbers would be worthless, as would be the time and money spent on producing them.
In addition, the fact that this idea, which as unilateral as it gets, is being promoted at the same time the President is proposing a “biparisan” conference is further indication of the desperation the Democrats are facing.
In light of the talk of reconciliation, the Republicans should reject out of hand any conference with Obama.

“I have a bad feeling about this.” Unlike the media, which makes ratings either way, but especially if it blows up in the Republicans’ face, I know sometimes it is better just not to try and pet the dog, especially after the owner tells you it bites.
But egos are egos and the Republicans think they can hold their own here, with the media stacked and the venue already set.
In Mao’s China a few “defendants” tried to speak at their political trials and were shouted down even more. You have to admit, as Rush and Glenn have pointed out repeatedly, the all the media is singing from the same hymnal. Here is an example:

If the Republicans are still stupid enough to show up for photos for this event, I’m sorry–then they deserve what happens next. I’m also sorry that the rest of us will be the ones paying the price for their apparently (if they should do that) endless willingness to be played for the suckers.

I sense a Lincoln/Douglas moment is upon us.
Let’s get off our heels on this thing. Barry says the GOP has nothing meaningful to offer on the subject? Fine. How about a debate? Set the format, rules and a mutually-agreed-upon moderator. No teleprompters or wireless audio monitors. Pick a Republican (I vote WI’s Ryan) and let’s get it on. Win this thing on ideas in front of the American people. He’ll likely never accept this. Based on his interaction a few weeks ago he’ll do fine in an ambush, he won’t hold up head-to-head and his staff knows this. Whatever. Simply not showing up plays into his hand. One up ‘em and let’s see what happens.

Each republican attendee to this setup trick meeting shoulld be trained in martial arts on how to kill. Each takes out their enemy combatant commie democrat counterpart. Dead congresscritters can’t vote. All the republicans should yell “Allah Akbar, uphold the Constitution” as they break the necks of the traitors, thus assuring they get a show trial in NYC. We get a whole boatload of speciakl electionsb right away and change the balance of power without waiting for November.
Thomas Sheehan commented:
There is more to this than we are seeing.
Why would the Democrats self-destruct
(November) over something that is going
to ignite America to destroy them at the
polls? Obama has a plan and this health
care debacle is the main part of it. Win
or lose they are going to their base and
say: win – we have to defend this in the
streets if need be – close America down
if the voting public rises up to repeal it
and lose – we have to take to the streets
because the main reason for the Obama
Presidency is over. Obama and Farrakhan,
who is his real mentor, could care less
about healthcare. They care about a
socialist takeover of the United States
through a violent uprising of about 20%
of the US population ( starting in the
inner cities). It will be impossible for
the military to restore order once every
major US city is under lockdown and
Obama sides with the rioters, effectively.
Elections are going to be suspended
because a national vote cannot be held
with 20 to 50 million voters in basically
war torn and no go areas. Obama’s
power will magnify 50 fold when only
he can placate the groups who have
effectively taken over 40 US cities.
Not getting the health bill or having it
threatened for repeal by the American
majority is the opening Obama and
Farrakhan will use to take down the
Republic. They have at least 30 million
people who will support them and alot
violently. Only a civil war can stop them
and they will dare America to pull that
off. With Obama as C in C that is going
to be a nonstarter. The US Constitution
is going to be formally suspended to
resolve what I am describing above and
Mr. Obama is going to be our President
for a long time. Chaos will be the
alternative and he and Farrakhan are
prepared to sow and continually threaten
it. This healthcare crap is merely the
stalking horse. You have been set up
my friends and either way Obama knows
how he is going to take you down.
Jean-Paul Marat commented:
No, it is not on the frontiers, but in the capital that we must rain down our blows on the enemy. Stop wasting time imagining different means of defence; there is but one that remains to you. That which I have recommended so many times: a general insurrection accompanied by popular executions… Six months ago, five or six hundred heads would have been enough to pull you back from the abyss. Today because you have stupidly let your implacable enemies conspire among themselves and gather strength, perhaps we will have to cut off five or six thousand; but even if we need to cut off 20,000, there is no time for hesitation
