The return of the fisted hand lecture… Republicans in Congress don’t have enough members to vote for a bathroom break but that didn’t stop Barack Obama from lashing out at their “obstructionism” today in his speech on Capital Hill. Obama insisted that democrats have incorporated numerous Republican ideas in their radical unpopular legislation. He said he was tired of extending a hand and getting a fist in return.
CNN reported:

President Obama tore into the Republican opposition on Capitol Hill Wednesday, blaming the GOP for what he called politically motivated opposition on virtually every issue.

Democrats have been willing to incorporate Republican ideas on health care and other issues, he said, but Republicans have not been willing to do the same.

Addressing a gathering of Senate Democrats, Obama promised to “call (Republicans) out when (Democrats) extend a hand and get a fist in return.”

Senate Republicans, he said, have tried to employ the filibuster more over the past year than in all of the 1950s and 1960s combined. The GOP’s strategy has been “20 years of obstruction packed into one,” he said.

“If you want to govern, you can’t just say no,” he argued. “It can’t be about just scoring points.”

In the real world, Democrats have locked out Republicans repeatedly for over a year and dumped late night thousand page documents on the GOP’s doorstep for a scheduled vote in the morning. The White House hasn’t even contacted the Minority Leader in months. Now that their radical agenda has proven to be so unpopular with a majority of Americans they finally have a need for the minority party- as scapegoats.
Good luck with that, Barack.

More… You may have noticed that Obama used that “extended hand” analogy again today. He uses it when he talks about the killer Iranian regime too. The only difference is that he sounds angrier when he’s talks about the Republicans.

  1. And what about the Republican amendments that are approved only to get dropped behind Prince Harry’s closed doors? Barack Obama IS the most perpective deficient(LYING) President in history. His rants at Republican’s last weekend about their responsibility for deficits was COMPLETELY devoid of what thinking people who have not surrendered their thought process to selective logic would consider to be representative of a proper perspective that is FACTUAL!

  2. Blame, Blame, Blame away

  3. BO has to take his comparisons back to the 50′s and 60′s to not remind us of the obstructionist tactics of his party during the Bush years. What about all those judicial appontments they stalled on, cabinet officials that were held up? This is such a lame argument and it won’t hold water with the pubilc because it is so lame. BO is not much of a salesman when selling is required. The spending and the taxing are too much for the system to stand. Republicans can stand tall on principles.

The reason? Never before has more radical, unwanted and un-American legislation been introduced. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction…

    Barack remains bewildered.

  6. The frustrated man-child is having a tantrum… after only a year in office!

  7. “If you want to govern, you can’t just say no,” he argued. “It can’t be about just scoring points.”

Let’s change it up. “If you want to govern, you can just say no,” he argued. “It can be about scoring points.”

There we go – this is closer to the truth.

  8. This guy sure does a lot of “calling out”. What else does he do besides run his mouth, run around the country, and run up the deficit?

  9. How dare they disagree with him. Do they not realize he is Obama ?

  10. “What else does he do besides run his mouth, run around the country, and run up the deficit?”

You mean the golfing and the partying?

  11. It’s the duty of the loyal opposition to oppose the party in power :)

  12. He complains about a filibuster when he cynically joined a filibuster movement against Justice Alito’s nomination. They were way short of enough votes, but he managed to stay in good graces with the far-left contingent who were determined to scuttle Alito’s appointment.

Everything this guy does is a political manuver. It’s all he knows how to do. If he actually had experience in governing he might not be fumbling and bumbling and bloviating his way through his term.

  13. he’s turning into a paranoid dictator more each day!!! what a blatent liar!

  14. “If you want to govern, you can’t just say no,” he argued. “It can’t be about just scoring points.”

Right…..but you CAN dismiss any and all republican ideas by simply saying “I won.”

I’m fully aware that elections have consequences, but voting for something just because someone else ‘won’ is not bipartisanship. It’s just stupid. Is that what he expected when he got elected??

  15. “I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration. ”

    –Hillary Clinton

  16. Typical Leftist piece of trash: he bows and apologizes to everyone in the world and treats foreign terrorists as U.S. citizens but attacks conservatives and people who don’t go along with his socialist agenda.

If the Republicans become the majority party and then play the bipartisan get-along game with Obozo then there is no hope for them.

  17. OB1CanHopey has the market cornered on stupid.

  18. This must have been the gathering of Dems that BO spoke to when he advised them to turn off their TV sets. (at riehlworldview.com)

Mentioning FOX (naturally) and CNN (to appear “fair”), he said it was just politics, 24/7.

We know better. He wants to keep them from hearing the truth — reality. He’ll get that from one, for sure.

And what a control freak. He’s like an abusive husband keeping the wife isolated so she doesn’t know the danger she’s in — “this isn’t insanity, dear. It’s normal.”

Note to Dems: your (political) life may depend on “getting out.” But, if it’s reality we’re facing, it’s already too late for you. Sorry, guys.

  19. The Democratic idea of bipartisanship is for the
Republicans to go along with whatever Democrats say.

  20. Great – Obama promised to “call (Republicans) out when (Democrats) extend a hand and get a FIST in return – what’s with these progressives and fisting????

  21. “call (Republicans) out when (Democrats) extend a hand and get a fist in return.”

It’s not actually a fist, Barry. Take a closer look.

  22. Do we know how many fingers were extended on that hand?

    *****************************************************

Actually, he DOESN’T know how to maneuver politically. He’s always had someone to tell him what to do, to smooth the way for him and to cover for him.
He’s never been “the man” who had to provide the cover and pull the political moves necessary to get things done. He really hasn’t got a clue about “handling” his opposition and getting things done.
If he did, we’d probably have cap’n'tax and a “health care” bill as law by now.
He really believes that he’s got what it takes, though, to just steamroll over his opposition and make them get out of his way or give him what he wants.
It’s obvious, though, that he doesn’t realize that his “opposition” is the American People. It’s his own fault that they’ve been roused from their torpor; and found their voice. The American People will not stand by and watch the destruction of America by some street-corner “community organizer” who’s sufferring from class envy and a terminal persecution complex.

  24. How quickly – and conveniently! – this President forget about the man who PERFECTED obstructionist to the point where he earned the title of “Obstructionist In Chief”. That would be Mr. Tom Daschle, who as majority and minority leader of the Democrats blocked anything and everything the Republicans attempted to advance.

When Daschle was doing it, it was “Good for the country and good politics”! If a Republican does it, however, it’s treasonous.

Get out of Dodge, Obama. You’re a fraud and a liar.

  25. The teleprompter should inform President,”Iwon..”,44 the difference between cloture and filibuster. Moreover, voting present and saying no was Obamas’ forte in the Senate.

  26. Obama sounds just like a spoilt brat. If he doesn’t get his way, he throws a tantrum. Wah!

  27. They should collectively give him the gesture he gives to everyone else, instead of the fist he is making up. Obama is a useless idiot, fraud, Indonesian. Go to hell or do something besides show your ugly, lying face on TV Obama.

  28. “Senate Republicans, he said, have tried to employ the filibuster more over the past year than in all of the 1950s and 1960s combined.”

What a crock! With only 40 Votes the Senate Republicans couldn’t filibuster anything.

This guy is making crap up as he goes along…

  29. I half-expect Obama to openly declare war on the Republicans at some point. If he’s claiming that the out-of-power Republicans (who are barely clinging to a minority large enough to permit filibustering at all in the Senate) are responsible for people not having healthcare, and if he’s also telling people to turn off the news channels (because the cultists in the media are somewhat less worshipful than they were a year ago), one can only imagine what he’ll be saying once another half-year slips by without his accomplishing much if anything and with the voters even angrier and more disgusted than they are now.

Obama is starting to look like Captain Queeg.

  30. BO doesn’t need the republicans to pass his legislation. He has full control of the House and Senate. It’s the blue dog dems that he has to work with to get his crazy legislation passed. He is so stupid to play this game. He is really showing everyone what I have known for years, he is not fit to be POTUS.

  31. Fist? Did he say fist? He must be getting his talking points from Kevin Jennings.

  32. The Obummer administration sure has a thing for “fists,” don’t they?
