Obama would not meet the Dalai Lama in the Oval Office.

Not-so-grand exit: The Dalai Lama leaves the White House via an exit where rubbish bags are kept on the ground following his meeting with Barack Obama, (Daily Mail)

Obama showed the Dalai Lama the back door today after their meeting.
The Daily Mail reported:

The Dalai Lama and U.S president Barack Obama met for the first time at the White House today, defying furious protests from China

The two Nobel Peace Prize winners seemed intent on keeping the meeting low-key, in order avoid worsening tensions between the two countries

The Tibetan spiritual leader, who was also denied a meeting in the Oval office, left via a side entrance where rubbish bags were piled up and The White House didn’t release photos of the meeting until several hours afterwards.

  1. gossssssssh, America, you can be proud of your President Obama. What a low life caracter.

  2. “The two Nobel Peace Prize winners”

Trying to improve Obama’s nothing Nobel by association with the Dalai Lama.

  3. George Bush showed more respect and class when he met with the Dalai Lama.

  4. The trash is in the White House.

  5. That’s not garbage, that’s just the weekly money drop for ACORN.

  6. Dalai Obama says, “It is only rubbish if you believe it to be.”

    http://www.obamaoops.us

  7. Obama only bows to thugs and terrorists….

  8. “How Negro-ish of Obama.”, said Harry Reid (D-NV)

  9. Vile Obama.

  10. THAT’S NOT GARBAGE!!! It’s obviously Stimulus funds. Almost certainly destined for Chicago.

“errr Mr. Dalai Lama could you please get the trash on the way out. There’s a dumpster at 1580 Pennsylvania…”

  11. Stay Classy, Obama…Stay Classy.

  12. That was jaw-dropping. There are no words.

  13. For the first time in my adult life, I’m ashamed to be an American represented by SOBama.

  14. How nice of Obummer? Andy Stern is welcome to come and go 25+ times from the usual entrance and exit but the Dalai Lama must use the service exit. Crazy!

  15. Yes because the oval office is held in such esteem that it’s only reserved for much more “official” things, like sex and losers putting their feet up on the desk…

Sending the Dalai Lama out the side door? That picture really says it all. The man has no shame.

  16. Actually, the picture doesn’t tell the entire story. The Dali Lama was asked to take the trash out with him as he exited the White House.

  17. Why did BO even bother having him there then??

  18. To the World:

    Obama does not represent us.

We are very sorry that he is lacking any social skills, much less presidential qualities. And for those who have no other excuse, it has nothing to do with racism. Blame any fault you may find on his caucasian half. After all, his “white” family oversaw his upbringing….ostensibly. (Beside which, it’s okay; we’re used to the blame game…really. We no longer feel any guilt, though. That particular game has been exposed for the sham it is.)

We promise to do better next time! 2012 cannot come soon enough.

    Sincerely,
The Citizens (i.e.: taxpayers vs. Marxist-wannabe “looters”) of the United States of America.

  19. I’d like to hire a private investigator to go through those bags…

Actually, the picture doesn’t tell the entire story. The Dali Lama was asked to take the trash out with him as he exited the White House.

Too bad he left some behind.

  21. It’s as though, somehow, sending someone out the side door makes the fact that they were there less of a reality???

Obama is such an idiot. He really cannot help but offend not just America but the world.

  22. You know class when you see it… and when you don’t

  23. Yeah, it’s the uselessness of the gesture as well as the utter crudity. Does he think this will mollify the chinese? Sure, they’re easily fooled.
Maybe for Halloween obozo could wear one of those bags and go as the prez that turned to trash overnight.

  24. obama dismisses the Dalai Lama out back, through the servant’s exit……how utterly classless. (which is what we expect of him)

  25. And you can be certain that “Free Tibet Now” poster-boy Richard Gere is hopping mad about this breach of etiquette. He’ll have plenty to say about it for sure.

  26. The garbage in those bags has more class than
    President Trash-Bag.

  27. I really do hope this has more to do with the snow, a cleared path, and convenience of the guests. Still, it does make me wonder about the staff that is so blind to the potential of the photographs.

  28. Like anyone expects more from the Teleprompter reader in Chief ?

The man who puts preditor / perverts in as Safe school czar, tax cheat in as Head of Treasurey, Nanci Pelosi and Harry Reid in charge of health care( or anything else), Robert Gibbs as Spinner in chief, and you are surprised ?

  29. Attention : The World et al: On behalf of the decent people of this once great country, I ask your indulgence while I humbly apologize for the sorry excuse of a man we have occupying our White House. We assure you we are doing our best to uncover ways in which to remove him, including his dereliction of office, failure to uphold his oath of office, and unsavory attachment to thugs and malcontents who bought his way there in the first place. This rude treatment of the Dalai Lama has been noted and we are appalled by it. Please don’t transfer your distaste for the man into a dislike of our Country. Still the World’s friend, America

  30. The staff is planning another party or smearing Sarah Palin.
These hacks have no class. They don’t know what class looks like.

  31. Tacky yet, sadly, not unexpected.

  32. I miss him.

  33. …Elly, #16…’it’s as though, somehow, sending someone out the side door makes the fact they were there less of a reality’

yes, indeed.. BHO’s ChiCom moms and dads said it was OK to use the House for his play date with his Tibetan friend…and why not? They’re paying for it. But, they made him promise not to embarrass them with his presence… “he who pays the piper calls the tune:”
China Warns US on Dalai Lama Visit

    …(november can’t come too soon)..

  34. Our President-

A total coward lacky puppet for the Socialist Chinese Bond Holders.

    F-ing coward.

  35. Do you think when Al Gore invented the internet, that he suspected in the future it would be the vehicle for his undoing?

  36. Forgetting everything else, the administration made a world-respected holy man leave through a service door used mainly by the staff as a garbage dump, thus equating a spiritual leader with refuse and subservient house-staff.

I wonder if the same “courtesy” would be shown to a Mus………. I’m not gonna comment more……. I wouldn’t stay civil.

  37. To me this is a metaphor for everything Obama is. He is too afraid to stand with the Dali Lama for fear those to which he bows might not like him anymore. So our friends go out through the Garbage Exit while our enemies stay in the Lincoln Bedroom.

  38. Well said,BoomLover at #31. I totally agree with you. What an embarrassment! Just when you think he can’t possibly sink any lower…..he does THIS! They could at least get a garbage can for their trash….

  39. China doesn’t want Tibet nor Taiwan only, it wants the world. It owns our country at this time. Bozo is scared so he had the Lama use the side door to give China their props — so this was another bow for the Bozo.

  40. The NYT claims that US presidents have historically not met publicly with the Dalai Lama out of deference to the Chi-coms. W’s public meeting in 2007 is allegedly the exception. Can this be true?

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/19/world/asia/19prexy.html?hp

  41. The photographer of the picture above deserves a Pulitzer! Incredible shot that pretty much sums up the first year of Prompterbama. If Nelson Mandela came calling, you think he would be shown the dumpster? Our President truly is an embarrassment, he should be taking out his own garbage. Oops, pardon me I guess that makes me a racist.

I really do hope this has more to do with the snow, a cleared path, and convenience of the guests. Still, it does make me wonder about the staff that is so blind to the potential of the photographs.

—oh God, I hope you’re right – that it was a courtesy, albeit a clumsy one.

But, really, I cannot recall a photo like that, at any time before. Garbage bags? Full of garbage laying in the snow at the White House?

    Really?

  43. The Obammunist seems hell bent on destroying the American electorates esteem for the office of the presidency, and the rest of government. Seen in this light, his many faux pauxs are orchestrated to denigrate the office, and a fine job he is doing.

  44. Not only did he send him out an entrance where the trash was piled up .. It’s obvious the press was there to capture the photo.
Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

I can’t help but think this was deliberately done to send a message. Yes China, we met with the Dalai Lama, but see how lowly we treated him.

  45. The President of the United States meets with one of the world’s biggest slave holders?

    That’s more “unbelievable.”

He doesn’t deserve to be in the White House. The least he can do is leave through an exit covered with trash for the filth that is him, someone who used to own a lot of slaves in Tibet and wants his slaves back.

  46. Cowards. Sucking up to the leftist communist fascist Chinese makes me want to puke. Gone are the days when the left cared about the plight of the Tibetans. Now that Thief in Chief has thrown them under the bus they’re no longer worthy of their attention I guess. I swear the left is rooting for the Chinese to overtake us as the worlds leading power. Their self-loathing knows no bounds and would explain this sudden betrayel of the Tibetans. As soon as all the buzz started to surround China’s rise they all of the sudden must have thought to themselves “Wait a second… This could finally topple evil corporate capitalist America! Woohoo! Go China!”

  47. Those bags probably smelled of caviar and Wagyu beef.

  48. President Bush ALWAYS had the class and guts to do what was RIGHT, even if it was not “popular”. This action shows the TRUE lack of character and lack of values Obama has. No amount of White House PR will ever change the obvious.

THIS is NOT what George Washington would have done!

  49. President Bush gave the Dalai Lama the Medal of Freedom in a large ceremony. And he wasn’t told to sneak out the back door.

  50. I would like to Invite the Dali Lama back in 2013, Sarah will escort him to his limo out the front door, with a nice fruit basket and some Alaskan Salmon.

  51. You can say anything you want about President Nixon, but he never insulted “Elvis Presley” (aka the king) by making him walk out the back through the trash bags.

President Nixon knew how treat royalty when they visited the whitehouse.

I know President Bush wouldn’t have behaved in such a manner with the Dali Lama.

Of course all of Obamas leftist friends come and go through the front door.

  52. What a perfect (meow!) photo to send to Richard Gere and all the other Budhist Obamaniacs. What a change from the way he was treated by Bush! Was that the kind of change you were hoping for, Dick?

  53. 0bama:

It was nice meeting you Mr. Llama. Would you mind leaving via the back door and taking a few bags of trash on your way?

That white stuff is snow – but you are probably too ignorant to recognize it. No, it doesn’t mean Global Warm is a hoax!

My Jumbo Jet is running and I have a meeting with Al Gore. I can’t answer any more questions. I must look busy. Good day.

  54. One day – hopefully soon – Obama will leave the White House through that exit in a trash bag.

  55. So what is the DL thinking as he walks out the back? The last time he was there he was treated like royalty.

Sent out the “servants entrance”, how post-racial.

  56. That’s NOT Garbage!!
In the Obama spirit of gift-giving,
    i-Pods, DVD’s, etc.,
they’re actually a gift to the Dalai Lama.
    Those bags are filled with
2 weeks worth of White House table scraps
gathered for the poor people of Tibet.
(You can thank Michelle for the idea!)

  57. I can see those crazy staffer kids at the White House right now, scurrying around trying to get enough waste together to make that photo op. Everyone knows that the real trash is in the dumpster.

  58. Hope and change: maybe those garbage bags are full of Obama’s policies on health care, global warming, openly gays in military etc.?

  59. Proof once again that Obama and his staff are without class and possess 0 sense of protocol … thanks liberal elite.

  60. As a good muslim, NObama does exactly as expected. What? Dalai Lama a spiritual guru and not muslim? Send him out with the trash just like other infidels. And this is our president. God help us.

  61. What we would find in those trash sacks is the remains of Mechille’s and daughters junk foods!

  62. Imagine what the rest of the place now looks like?

  63. Isn’t that the “Lewinsky” exit?

  64. Trash? Those bags contain the daily shreddings of the Constitution. Why isn’t anyone asking why Michelle allowed the staff to toss garbage on the grounds of the White House instead of the proper recepticle? That’s not very…”organic garden” of her.

I think that is the same door that Slick Willy made Lewinsky use. Most people don’t realize that Obama couldn’t use the Oval Office because Bill Clinton and Tiger Woods already had it reserved for extra-curricular activities.

    Depressing.

    http://www.NationalAsset.wordpress.com

  65. I guess the idea was not to anger the Chinese and still meet with the Dali Lama. I wonder how much support for human rights and social justice was committed by the leader of the free world and the Nobel Peace prize winner to the oppressed people of Tibet? Or were the Tibetans shown the way out in front of a Mack truck by way of the garbage door along with the Dali Lama.

  66. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, this one is equal to a library.

  67. i JUST HEARD OBAMAS GIFT TO THE DALI WAS CUFF LINKS. LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER DOOZIE GIFT LIKE THE IPOD OF OBAMAS SPEECHES HE GAVE TO THE QUEEN. AND THIS FROM A MAN SAID TO BE SO BRILLIANT? DANG WHAT A JERK HE IS

  68. Remember how Netanyahu got an hour and forty minutes before being hustled out of the White House?

What embarrasses Obama so much about having righteously bold visitors?

Is he uncomfortable in the presence of moral courage?

  69. Obama has been such an epic fail. I’m sorry America once again fell victim to the republicrats. Maybe next time we’ll elect a gentleman.

    Ron Paul 2012!

  70. In my 60 years as an American citizen, I have NEVER been more ashamed.

  71. Hopefully the Dalai Lama will come back in 2012 to help obama to carry barry’s trashbags out of the Oval Office.

  72. I am no fan of Obama, but I believe that this was a security measure. Others prominent, but who have been threatened with assassination have followed that exit which is a safe route. China is seeking to be rid of the DL.

  73. Where is the OUTRAGE from the number one fan of Tibet-RICHARD GREER ?

  74. just because the Dalai Lama thinks he’s a holy man doesn’t make him one, does it? his former serfs wouldn’t give a damn which exit was shown to him.

  75. Fortunately, the Dalai Lama does not care for such formalities. More importantly, did you notice he came to the White House in a flip-flop! That is confident!

I wonder who has the last laugh.

This non-meeting meeting will mark the beginning of end of America’s world dominance. America has abdicated that role and allowed China to bully her.

    Gyame Kyakpa So

  76. The people who comment on the disrespect shown the Dalai Lama but yet show even more disrespect for their own president are the truly classless ones. Best of luck.

  77. Is this not a Catholic site? Why so many idolators of Dalai Lama?

  78. The Dalai Lama is god to the Tibetans. He knows it, and he behaves like god to them, giving stern warnings of bad after-life (karma) to those who defy him and promise good after-life to those who idolise and obey him.

His excreta (solid and liquid) is made into medicine. That is the power of his buddha-hood in the eyes of his worshippers.

But in front Americans, the Dalai Lama pretends he is an ordinary person.

Do serious research please you guys. Don’t feed yourself on newspaper’s trash.

First Things is a serious site which I used to read very often for serious Catholic articles many years ago.

I hope serious scholars from First Things will do some serious research. There is no lack of scholarly research already done by American scholars from American universities on Tibet and the Dalai Lama.

Just know one sure thing: Tibet would have collapsed without China. Before 1951 when the communist re-claim control over Tibet, 99 per cent of Tibetans suffered from venereal diseases. No modern medicine. No hospitals (except one British hospital for the Dalai Lama and his officials). The Tibetan population has been declining for many centuries. No schools – except those Buddhist learning in monasteries.

For a start, you may want to read “Tibet sovereignty debate” on wikipedia where you can get many scholarly reference sources.

    And an 1940 article;

An 1912 article from Catholic Encyclopedia:
    Look up “Tibet”
    http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14718a.htm

  79. The trash is a sign that the days of the Dalai Lama are over!!! Catholics and Christians should rejoice that God will be removing one more idol. This is a living person idol. The Dalai Lama institution and its idolatry have brought tremendous harm to Tibet and Tibetan peoples for almost 400 years, or 800 years if you include the period before the Dalai Lama.

  80. I am prepared to write some serious articles on Tibet, Tibetan Buddhism, and the Dalai Lama for publication here, if First Things would consider publishing them. (I have contributed a big chunk to the wikipedia article, “Tibetan sovereignty debate” ). Would editors here consider publishing them?
