I arrived tonight at the National Tea Party Convention at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Several of us met for dinner at the Opryland Hotel tonight. After we ate Andrew Breitbart went and lectured a group of mainstream journalists who were sent here to cover the event this weekend.

There are reporters here covering this event from around the world. I ran into journalists from Canada’s Globe and Mail, Town Hall, Human Events and The Washington Post. The place is teeming with mainstream journalists.

One of the reporters actually recognized Joseph Basel who was in the news this week after his arrest in New Orleans.

Tea Party Nation is pleased to announce the First National Tea Party Convention. The convention is aimed at bringing the Tea Party Movement leaders together from around the nation for the purpose of networking and supporting the movement’s multiple organizations’ principal goals. This event is co-sponsored by other national groups that believe in a responsible and limited federal government that is responsive to all the people.  Our Sponsors include Tea Party Emporium, Judicial Watch, Eagle Forum, The Leadership Institute, Vision America, SurgeUSA, Smart Girl Politics and National Taxpayers Union.  Participants include: Tea Party Express, The Memphis Tea Party, National Precinct Alliance, Young Americans for Freedom, The Evergreen/Conifer Tea Party, North Carolina Freedom Tea Party, Joseph Farah, Angela McGlowan, Judge Roy Moore, Tom Fitton, Bruce Donnelly, Ana Puig, Steve Milloy, Mark Skoda, Keli Carender (aka Liberty Belle), Dr. B. Leland Baker, Walter Fitzgerald, Philip Glass, Dr. Rick Scarborough, David DeGerolamo and Lori Christenson.

Dr. Rick Scarborough offered a prayer tonight for the convention & our nation. Tom Tancredo spoke to the crowd earlier in the evening.

Tomorrow I will be covering the convention. If you hear anything on radio or TV and want me to check it out please feel free to email me or post a comment. I will be checking email frequently and will investigate tips but don’t be upset this weekend if I don’t write back.

Founding Bloggers sponsored my trip here this weekend.

  1. Go Jim. Have a great time and keep us posted!
    Wish I was there.

  2. I can’t imagine why the Globe and Mail is there, they are truly in love with the Liberal Party here in Canada. Speak to them at your own risk.

  3. Way to go! See any murderous looking threats to our national security? I mean pro-life T-shirt wearers, of course. No deep mourning for Susan Hill? No Kumbaya singing?

  4. We are behind you. Keep up the good work Jim!

  5. Jim,
Please keep a sharp eye out for
    black SUV’s with government plates.

  6. Remember, for every one of the participants at this convention, they represent thousands of us that have bad habits. Food, shelter and clothing therwise known as a JOB. We are no longer the silent majority, we are the Radical right wing zealots that believe what the founders wrote (constitution).
Hopefully the Tea Partys goal is to transform the Republican party from within. This is my goal. Throw out the non conservative RINOS and rebuild a solid conservative majority. WE WILL WIN BIG.

  7. Smile for the camera, you know DHS will be taking your pictures!

  8. “After we ate Andrew Breitbart…”??? Commas, people…

  9. Don’t get lost in that hotel. The fastest way to get from A to B is not through the atriums. Use the hallways. There is a historical gun collection in the basement floor.

  10. Add my name to the list of people who wish we could be there. Have fun and record everything. We look forward to your posts.

  11. Have fun, Jim! I’d love to rub shoulders with all of the conservatives gathered there. tom

  12. Use the convention to lay the ground work to reform the Republican Party so that we have a home again! Don’t try to nominate candidates to run under the Tea Party banner.

That splits the vote from the right and hands the Democrats a victory. It has happened in the past!

Use the Tea Party Conventions to come up with ideas and platforms for our candidates to run under in the primaries. Then, support them with your time, money, and VOTE!

That is the way to victory. The left can not beat us on ideas. We can deliver “change people can believe in” and actually want. We can deliver smaller government, a balanced budget, true reforms to health care without totally scrapping the current system and handing it over the the Government, etc…

Now, let’s get busy and take our party back!

“There is nothing wrong with America that can not be fixed with what is right with America.” Ronald Reagan

  13. I loved seeing Joe Farrah speaking from a podium emblazoned with “Gaylord”. Heh.

As for his call for a Jesus religious revival? I have to tell Joe (he and I corresponded a lot before the war started) that he should go back to the old time religion. If it was good enough for Jesus it is good enough for me.

Seriously. He will loose support for T Parties if it is seen a a Christian rather than an American movement.
