I’m sure the audience had a good laugh.
The troops on the other hand are fighting in Afghanistan with one hand tied behind there back, they can’t shoot unless shot at first, and if the enemy throws down there weapons they can no longer shoot at them.
The perfumed General “McChrystal” is also apologizing (like obama) for the Marines lethality. Victory is no longer the main goal of the US military, prevention of civilian casualties is job one.
Peacekeeping actions have always been very costly for the US, even George Washington was against getting involved in foreign wars. We need to be in it to win or time to go home.

I’ll be money before it is over he’ll be begging to a God he doesn’t believe in, looking for the cops he doesn’t like, and hoping some good-hearted veteran will come along and pull me off him.
None will happen. His rehab will take a year, and he will flinch for the rest of his life at loud sounds and when he hears someone sing the national anthem.

The heading of this post is sort of misleading. If you watch the clip, he’s not saying “we liberals love the troops like Michael Vick loves dogs,” he’s saying that the *USA* — that is, all of us, as a body — gives lip-service to caring about the troops, while screwing them over in innumerable ways.
No question, Maher’s a jerk. While we should always work to show our appreciation to our troops in word and deed alike, the way he makes his point here isn’t right: he does our troops no favors with his demoralizing message. And maybe that’s his real aim. Practically speaking, he’s an idiot. His dim view of the USA and its citizenry is revolting, and his views on political matters are equally ugly and uninformed. But he didn’t mean what the headline makes it sound like he meant, and that just shouldn’t be. That’s the left’s M.O., not the right’s. We can whip a fool like Maher on the issues any day, presenting him straight-up.

Did anyone listen to what he said? He is pointing out that we need to treat the troops BETTER. He’s saying that “we” (as in Americans) claim to love our troops so much, but we don’t pay them ENOUGH, we don’t support them when they get home, we don’t look out for them over there. He is criticizing this, not promoting it! LISTEN. Anyone who has served or has family serving and is outraged by this should LISTEN. He is pointing out that you and your loved ones should be supported MORE.

As a former hardcore Leftist; I can assure you as a matter of fact that the Left thinks everyone in the military is a racist hill billy redneck who are too stupid to get a “real” job. They also look at the military in fear, hatred and disgust because 1) they know that most people in the military are overwhelmingly conservative and thus are a political enemy that they need to dismantle 2) they think the military is a tool of the “racist white establishment” which is used to kill and oppress brown people around the world 3) they’re pacifists who are deepy uncomfortable with the idea of creating and maintaining an organization who’s only purpose is to kill and destroy other human beings and the natural world in their mind 4) Leftists are consumed with a constant feeling of self-loathing and are actively trying to destroy the West from within like a 5th column; and one of the many ways they’re trying to accomplish that is by making us defenseless and 5) they’d rather see the money that’s being spent on our military going towards art, science, research, welfare, public projects, etc, instead.

Better listen a bit more closely. He is reiterating the same leftist talking points:
If we loved our troops, we would bring them home.
The “we took our eye off the ball in Afghanistan,” was just a talking point for withdrawing from Iraq. Now that Iraq was the “crowning acheivement of the Obama administration,” it becomes a prelude to their desire to retreat in Afghanistan.
They want us out. It was always their end game and they have no love for the troops and any expression of thanks or gratitude is just “sentimental bulls**t.”

There are countless reasons to hate this jerk, but this isn’t one of them.
In his own bombthrowing manner, he was saying that we in the United States don’t show the troops the respect they deserve.
On the surface, this appears to be a statment that demands more support, more respect for the military.
And as such, it shouldn’t get we on the right too upset.
But, beneath it lies a more twisted agenda.
Liberals love to pretend they care about the troops, by trying to make them all victims of their time in the service.
It’s proven in how many shows for example paint vets as these mentally shattered folks, ready to go on a killing spree or having lost their house while serving, will turn to a life of crime.
They did it a million times over with the Viet Nam Vets and they are doing so again with this generation of warriors.
That way, they can indirectly claim that service in the military causes you to go bonkers and will bankrupt you.
Another aspect to this of course, is that the Democrats are the party of victims. The more vets they can convince that their service is now a handicap, the more they hope will vote for the Democrats. Think PTSD, Agent Orange, Gulf Syndom, and so forth.
So while it’s hard to argue with the true statement, beware the actual nefarious agenda underneath.
