It was all a lie.

The Top Climate Scientist Admitted in February That Man-made Global Warming Was a Farce–
* The data for the vital ‘hockey stick graph’ had gone missing
* There had been no global warming since 1995
* Warming periods have happened before – but NOT due to man-made changes
In February one of the chief scientists at the center of the “Climategate” scandal admitted that there had been no significant global warming in the last 15 years.
But, Al Gore is still beating that dead horse.
At least The New York Times will still publish his crackpot propaganda:
I, for one, genuinely wish that the climate crisis were an illusion. But unfortunately, the reality of the danger we are courting has not been changed by the discovery of at least two mistakes in the thousands of pages of careful scientific work over the last 22 years by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In fact, the crisis is still growing because we are continuing to dump 90 million tons of global-warming pollution every 24 hours into the atmosphere — as if it were an open sewer.
It is true that the climate panel published a flawed overestimate of the melting rate of debris-covered glaciers in the Himalayas, and used information about the Netherlands provided to it by the government, which was later found to be partly inaccurate. In addition, e-mail messages stolen from the University of East Anglia in Britain showed that scientists besieged by an onslaught of hostile, make-work demands from climate skeptics may not have adequately followed the requirements of the British freedom of information law.
But the scientific enterprise will never be completely free of mistakes. What is important is that the overwhelming consensus on global warming remains unchanged. It is also worth noting that the panel’s scientists — acting in good faith on the best information then available to them — probably underestimated the range of sea-level rise in this century, the speed with which the Arctic ice cap is disappearing and the speed with which some of the large glacial flows in Antarctica and Greenland are melting and racing to the sea…
…The heavy snowfalls this month have been used as fodder for ridicule by those who argue that global warming is a myth, yet scientists have long pointed out that warmer global temperatures have been increasing the rate of evaporation from the oceans, putting significantly more moisture into the atmosphere — thus causing heavier downfalls of both rain and snow in particular regions, including the Northeastern United States. Just as it’s important not to miss the forest for the trees, neither should we miss the climate for the snowstorm.
Here is what scientists have found is happening to our climate: man-made global-warming pollution traps heat from the sun and increases atmospheric temperatures. These pollutants — especially carbon dioxide — have been increasing rapidly with the growth in the burning of coal, oil, natural gas and forests, and temperatures have increased over the same period. Almost all of the ice-covered regions of the Earth are melting — and seas are rising. Hurricanes are predicted to grow stronger and more destructive, though their number is expected to decrease. Droughts are getting longer and deeper in many mid-continent regions, even as the severity of flooding increases. The seasonal predictability of rainfall and temperatures is being disrupted, posing serious threats to agriculture. The rate of species extinction is accelerating to dangerous levels.

Even if it was warming, there is absolutely no proof that mankind is causing it.
This is a classic example of how it works today. All it takes is a bird falling off a tree and at once mankind is at fault without anyone ever actually investigating it and doing proper research.
Take the hole in the ozone layer. Bad mankind. Evil mankind. However, the hole has totally disappeared from the media and actual research has shown that the size and thickness of the “hole” (which isn’t an actual hole anyway) is heavily influenced by the activity of what?
The sun.
Right now it’s rather warm outside here in Vienna. Why? Because of global warming? Because of our CO2? Or simply because there are no clouds in the sky and the sun can burn down without obstacles?

I think Al Goreacle is doing a disservice to public policy by conflating two separate ideas: pollution vs. manmade global warming. Most of us, conservatives moderates and liberals would like to have a cleaner environment, lessen pollution and toxins in the environment thought we disagree on methods to reach goal. But to take the next two leaps that pollution will cause global warming and that this warming will cause catastrophic climate change witin our lifetimes is a bridge too far and tends to discredit everything coming out of the pieholes of these alarmists.

GORE’S DEFENSE OF AGW IS WRONG ON THE FACTS
IN TODAY’S NYTIMES, GORE WROTE:
“The heavy snowfalls this month have been used as fodder for ridicule by those who argue that global warming is a myth, yet scientists have long pointed out that warmer global temperatures have been increasing the rate of evaporation from the oceans, putting significantly more moisture into the atmosphere — thus causing heavier downfalls of both rain and snow in particular regions, including the Northeastern United States. Just as it’s important not to miss the forest for the trees, neither should we miss the climate for the snowstorm.”
GORE IS WRONG ON THE FACTS:
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN:
… since 2001 there has been less water vapor in a narrow, lower band of the stratosphere thanks to cooler temperatures in the tropopause, and that may just be holding back global warming at ground level, according to new research published online in Science
“We found that there was a surface temperature impact due to changes in water vapor in a fairly narrow region of the stratosphere,” explains research meteorologist Karen Rosenlof of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Aeronomy Laboratory, one of the authors of the study. “The reason for the water vapor change is the temperature drop at the interface between the troposphere and the stratosphere over the tropics. What we don’t know is why the temperature dropped.”
That temperature does seem to correlate, however, to sea-surface temperatures in the Pacific that, of course, follow El Niño–La Niña cycles, along with other trends.
A new El Niño cycle—warmer surface waters—began last summer, which may mean that stratospheric water levels could change again.
So this effect could either be the result of natural variability in Earth’s climate, or yet another effect of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases like water vapor trapping more heat and thus warming sea-surface temperatures.
All told, stratospheric water vapor declined by 10 percent since 2000, based on satellite and balloon measurements, yet that was enough to appreciably affect temperatures at ground level according to climate models.
“Reduce the water vapor and you have less long-wave radiation coming back down to warm the troposphere,” Rosenlof says.
Conversely, an apparent increase in water vapor in this region in the 1980s and 1990s exacerbated global warming.
THERE IS LESS H20 IN THE AIR, NOT MORE; THEREFORE GORE’S EXCUSE IS WRONG.

reliapundit: Conversely, an apparent increase in water vapor in this region in the 1980s and 1990s exacerbated global warming.
You’re confusing water vapor in the stratosphere with water vapor in the entire atmosphere. Water vapor in the mid-troposphere is a significant forcing for global warming.

Two mistakes? It’s good that Gore is finally admitting that Global Warming is flawed.
Is Gore concerned about airbrushing out (1) the Medieval Warm Period and (2) the Little Ice Age?
Has the Gorcle researched (1) the Milkankovih Cycles and (2) solar flares?
Is he’s talking about (1) the rain forests and (2) the glaciers not going away?
Or perhaps, a (1) flawed green house gas concept and (2) lack of empirical evidence that it has ever caused global warming?
Maybe he means, (1) adjusting measured data to conform to his theory and (2) only taking measurements where it is warm?
Did he refer to ignoring the laws of (1) thermodynamics and (2) hydrostatics?
Are the two flaws (1) misunderstanding that warmer temperatures make storms less severe and (2) not accepting that CO2 will enhance plant growth making food less expensive?
Is this revelation an admission in the green house gas model (1) that CO2 is 1/1000 as important as water vapor and (2) that CO2 levels rise after warming occurs?
Is Gore talking about (1) false data and (2) invalid computer models?
Still, I welcome the humbler, more introspective ManBearPig.

Actually, there has been warming since 1995, but it is not statistically significant at the 95% confidence level. This means there is still the possibility that the warming is within the range of statistical variation.
However, in order to get to that point, you have to believe that all of the data used to create that result is good data, unbiased, unaltered, and can be independently verified.
Due to the antics of a small group of climate scientists, we can not trust the data.
The sad fact is that there might be significant global warming, or there might not be at all, but at this point we’ll not know anytime soon because these “scientists” have approached data collection and analysis from the point of advocacy of a particular political ideology rather than from a pure scientific method.
