TheObama IRS needs your money – purchases guns.
FBO.gov reported, via Archer:

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) intends to purchase sixty Remington Model 870 Police RAMAC #24587 12 gauge pump-action shotguns for the Criminal Investigation Division. The Remington parkerized shotguns, with fourteen inch barrel, modified choke, Wilson Combat Ghost Ring rear sight and XS4 Contour Bead front sight, Knoxx Reduced Recoil Adjustable Stock, and Speedfeed ribbed black forend, are designated as the only shotguns authorized for IRS duty based on compatibility with IRS existing shotgun inventory, certified armorer and combat training and protocol, maintenance, and parts.

Submit quotes including 11% Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax (FAET) and shipping to Washington DC.

    1) Point barrel in general direction of target.
    2) Hang on with every ounce of strength you have.
    3) Slap trigger with index finger.
    4) Pick yourself up off the ground.
    5) Retrieve index finger.
    6) Operate slider to unload spent shell and load another round.
    7) Apply ice bags to portion of body affected by massive recoil. 8) Wait two days for hearing to return.
    9) If necessary, repeat steps 1-8 above.
    10) This time try not to flinch.

  14. A friend of mine who works with the ATF said that the ATF’s budget has been increased to its largest ever and they have been approved to hire hundreds of new agents this year.

    Now let’s see, ATF stands for Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Which of these three do you think they are going to come after with their huge budget and new agents?????

    No, they’ll be shooting real bullets. Years ago, back in the late nineties one of our detectives went to work for them. Back then, he was the only police officer with any police training in the section he was working in. The agents went to do a raid (rare back then) and they handed him the single shotgun they had. He was surprised and that was when they admitted they didn’t know HOW to do a breach or an entry.

    Times change. Many former local and state officers went federal along with some veterans of the wars. They aren’t foolish, untrained or weakly. If they come, they will come with overwhelming firepower. The question still remains, with all the federal special units geared up for this, why the IRS?

    Remember there are more government employees and special units than ever before. Most will do what they are told and will use “I was only following orders” excuse when things go wrong. As we have seen lately with the Christmas bomber,apparently this administration cannot actually pin down who is issuing those orders.

    I have said many times before we are not immune to the same threats other nations faced just because we are Americans. The difference is because we are Americans. How we react is the key. What was it that Patrick Henry said?

  28. The IRS has no business procuring arms. Law enforcement agencies already exist, using procedures with quaint mechanisms like “warrants.”
    Gonna have chaos in law enforcement with overlapping and conflicting mandates and massive public confusion.

  30. There is nothing wrong with Federal Agents, who already are allowed to carry handguns, having access to a shotgun.

    As a former police officer and trainer, our view on it was that the handgun was what you used to get back to your unit to get the shotgun.

    Conservatives shouldn’t start viewing every Federal Agent as our enemy.

    The IRS Cops deal with some really strange folks and some who are at the edge mentally. They having some firepower, so they can go home at the end of the shift isn’t a bad thing at all.

    The 14″ is classified as an “entry” weapon. With the short barrell, it’s more maneuverable going through the door into a hostile environment and easier to handle in confined spaces (hallways, tec.)

    Anyone can own one. All it takes is a $200 tax stamp and ATF permission after an investigation.

    They’re handy little guns, but limited in their application and usefulness.

    Well, there’s your problem right there.

    Why does the IRS (or for that matter, the Dept. of Agriculture, or the FDIC, or the EPA, or a host of others) have any armed employees?

    I run across armed federal employees all the time in my professional life (airline pilot). You simply would not believe which agencies have armed employees (and I’m not at all implying that all employees of these agencies are armed.).

    But what grates me is that there are far too many regulatory agencies–like the IRS–which have evolved into law enforcement agencies. This isn’t new, but it is a very bad sign for our future.

    Fine. My first question is why does the IRS have “cops” at all? Next, is it really out of line to wonder if some folks are so upset at a federal agency that they might begin shooting at their employees, are we ever able to question the scope of these fed.gov agencies? Yes–some folks are prone to violence at the least provocation, but sometimes the regulations being enforced at gunpoint ought to be examined too.

    But if the IRS does hypothetically have to “deal with some really strange folks”, then what’s wrong with calling their local Federal Marshal’s office or other fed.gov law enforcement agency to act as their muscle?

    It’s a matter of “turf”. The IRS did used to call the marshalls to serve their warrants and do their confiscations. Then, one director or another found a loophole which allowed accountants to carry guns – and that was all it took.

    Almost every department has an armed group, for one reason or another. Commerce, energy, state, epa. It wouldn’t surprise me to find that the dept. of education has their own swat teams.

    It’s simply a matter of expanding turf and getting more prestige — on the taxpayers’ dime.

    There are IRS agents in the criminal division that have long carried their gold badges and guns. It’s been that way for decades.

    If you saw what crap those agents have to deal with from criminals, you’d be supporting them.

    It’s tiring enough dealing with the lies from Libs. But to hear the crap spewed by some of you on this topic is really pathetic.

    Grow up and realize that maybe, just maybe, you don’t really understand what IRS Agents working in the criminal division have to deal with. And then maybe quit yappin with your yapper head.

  38. TiminPhx is correct in the sense that law enforcement officers should be able to protect themselves. However, we are talking about collecting taxes, not stopping serial killers. Sure there are a few nut jobs out there and the agents should be able to call in the proper units to handle them. I found out that after 9-11 all federal agencies were required to create “anti-terrorism” units. Perhaps that morphed into a SWAT/tactical team. However, take the time to read my post

    You’ll find I spent twenty years watching the “hut hut” team (swat guys) run around getting all kinds of new “toys” to play with. Heck, our City ended up with two .50 cal. Barretts, even though we didn’t need them, and an armored car we got cheap from some military sale, also something we never needed. Then there was the mobile command RV that cost a couple of million (a hundred thousand for the cool full body decal) which the deputy chief rides around in, again something we never needed. (It was designed to replace our comm center if a hurricane destroyed it. Our comm center is designed to withstand category 5 hurricanes, so… . We ended up using it at crime scenes, again for no reason except to justify the expenditure.

    My point is this, boys like toys and once in their possession will tend to play with them. Trouble is, like at Waco and Ruby Ridge (among other incidents) people got hurt and killed- on both sides. And for what exactly? Trumped up charges of child abuse, a nutty preacher and a man set up by the ATF because he refused to be a CI?

    If the feds didn’t have all that firepower, they would have to find other ways to handle confrontations. And that’s the point. How did we get to the place where tax collectors are gathering offensive weapons? And people are daring them to try and use them?

    Nothing good will come out of this. But I am afraid the feds are looking for that one example they can exploit to frighten the rest of us. I wrote about this in my upcoming book- http://www.revoltthebook.com I wrote the original manuscript back in 1997. Back then people who read it laughed saying no way it would happen here.

    They aren’t laughing now.
