Goofy Politico Co-Founder VandeHei: We Hate Palin So Much We Love Her, or Something

On Tuesday, Bill O’Reilly slammed Jim VandeHei from the Politico for defending the state-run media’s atrocious coverage of the National Tea Party Convention. The media published only 2 favorable reports on the event out of hundreds.
It took Vanderhei three days to come up with a response.
He should have taken another day or two.
The Politico reported:
Fox News has been making a serious charge about mainstream political reporters: They hate Sarah Palin.
This is not just wrong, it’s absurd. The reality is exactly the opposite: We love Palin.
And if Palin does not exactly love us, she’s smart enough to recognize how quickly reporters devour every provocative remark she utters. She knows how to exploit our weakness to guarantee herself exposure far out of proportion to her actual influence in Republican politics.
It’s a tangled, symbiotic affair — built on mutual dependency and mutual enabling.
For the media, Palin is great at the box office. Among modern American political figures, she is second only to Barack Obama in generating clicks (for Web sites such as this one) and ratings (for the cable news networks hungering around the clock for fresh material).
For Palin, the benefit is the exposure she needs to maintain her public profile and stir up chatter about a potential presidential candidacy — both of which help her continue to rake in millions of dollars in speaking fees. She also gets a villain with which to further energize her supporters: The more she convinces them “the MSM” hates her, the more they love her.
The problem is that this relationship — what in Hollywood they call being “frenemies” — treats Palin as though she were the central figure in the politics of 2012. No realistic appraisal of Palin’s current strengths and weaknesses or of the history of Republican politics suggests that this is necessarily true.
So the state-run media loves Sarah Palin so much that they bash her every day of the year?
That’s goofy.

The Politico rebuttal–that they supposedly don’t hate Palin–was full of backhanded compliments and was essentially a hit piece in itself, just reinforcing the FOX News charge.

The media picked both candidates for President. They picked McCain because they thought Obama could beat him. They picked Obama because he is a train wreck. Well, that and main stream media are sadist socialist.
They do not attack Ms Palin out of love, that is certain. They attack Ms Palin because she threatens them with good news. Good news doesn’t sell unless you make is something bad.

For a group that’s supposed to be so enlightened and in support of equality for women, they sure have a problem with the money she’s earned for herself. They can hardly write a piece about her nowadays without making mention of the money she’s raked in since stepping down as Gov of AK. Men in politics have been earning millions in book sales and speaking appearances for decades without a peep from the libtards about it.
I say good for Palin that she’s profiting from sharing her experiences via her book and from speaking appearances (if that’s true). I don’t care if she spends every last dime of it on herself; it’s her money and she can do with it what she wants. Between you and me, I suspect she shares a great deal of money with her favorite charities, which, if so, that’s also her choice as it’s her money.
As for the idiots at Politico and the rest of the lamestream media, it doesn’t matter if they continue to publish hit pieces on Palin or not. Either way, she’s not going away any time soon and they need to get over it and get used to it.

Why is it that how much money Sarah is making for her book and speeches is constantly brought up, but how much money Barry made for his “autobiographies” is only barely mentioned-and then in glowing words? If the press were fair to Barry and Sarah, they would point out that “Dreams of my Father” should have begun with the words”Once upon a time…”.
