Obama hit the crackpot jackpot with this one.
Eric Holder today admitted that he was the one who made the decision to treat Christmas Day bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab as a civilian criminal.
The Corner reported:

Attorney General Eric Holder has taken ownership of the decision to treat Christmas Day bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab as a civilian criminal.

“I made the decision to charge Mr. Abdulmutallab with federal crimes, and to seek his detention in connection with those charges, with the knowledge of, and with no objection from, all other relevant departments of the government,” Holder says in a letter addressed to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and other senators who have sought testimony from Holder on the treatment of Abdulmutallab.
In an at-times testy letter, Holder endorses the treatment of terrorist attacks as a matter of criminal justice, and implies that Senate Republicans are using the Abdulmutallab case for political gain, saying that his Justice Department relied on procedures that were not criticized when employed by previous administrations:

The decision to charge Mr. Abdulmutallab in federal court, and the methods used to interrogate him, are fully consistent with the long-established and publicly known policies and practices of the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the United States Government as a whole, as implemented for many years by Administrations of both parties. Those policies and practices, which were not criticized when employed by previous Administrations, have been and remain extremely effective in protecting national security. They are among the many powerful weapons this country can and should use to win the war against al-Qaeda.

This was Eric Holder’s first response to a four GOP requests on terrorism policy that date back eight months, according to Republicans.

  1. Holder was an underwhelming prosecutor wannabe when nominated, and has almost risen to that level as the Nation’s highest ranking law enforcement officer.

    You have to give him credit for being consistent. Consistently WRONG.

  2. “with the knowledge of, and with no objection from,
    all other relevant departments of the government”

    Didn’t a few of them say that they had
    no knowledge of the decision?

  3. There’s no way Holder made this kind of decision on his own. Even though he’s following the policy of the Administration he wouldn’t dare do this with out an okay from above. If it turns out bad of course, under the bus he goes.

  4. Bensig: I agree 100%.
    I am also getting fed up with referals to “previous administrations”, “Bush did it too”, and “the mess I was left with”. Time to man up or shut up. Quit blaming all the screw ups on somebody else.

  5. Obummer made the decision; Holder implemented it out because of Obummer’s level of courage (and also so Obummer would have an “out”).
    .

  6. If ever thing Bush did was bad,why do the same thing.we dodge the bullet that their wasn”t one the nexth day.why haven”t they investagat the :black panter party and Acorns.

  7. “plausible denial” , obama voting present again, Holder taking the hit.

    In old chicago, nothing happened unless Al Capone approved it. No one crossed Al Capone.

  8. It was stated in various news articles in January that counterterrorism higher-ups, such as Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Intelligence Director Dennis Blair, and National Counterterrorism Center director Michael Leiter had no knowledge of the decision to read Miranda rights.

    Now Holder is stating that, “I made the decision to charge Mr. Abdulmutallab with federal crimes, and to seek his detention in connection with those charges, with the knowledge of, and with no objection from, all other relevant departments of the government.”

    Someone is lying.

  9. A little walk down memory lane. And we find Eric Holder:

  10. Eric Holder is a large pile of steaming dog feces.

  11. *SOMEBODY* is lying.

    The heads of CIA, DHS, the director of Nat’l. Intel, etc. all said that they weren’t consulted about or advised of the decision to treat the undiebomber as a common criminal.
    But, holder says everybody was consulted and/or informed.
    Who to believe?

    (Actually, with a nest of liars like those snakes, you can’t believe any of them — but at least one of them *must* be telling the truth, if only for self-preservation.)

  12. Up next:

    Circular Firing Squads!

    Can’t wait.

  13. Holder is talking out of his ass, again. Move along, there is nothing to see here.

  14. ++

    yes, always pointing fingers, never
    actually stating what their policy is..

    mirrors & smoke..

    ==

  15. ++

    THEY LIE & BILL AYERS APPROVES!!

    also not the first time Holder supposedly ‘did
    things on his own’
    , ergo, it won’t be the last..

    would you hire a man you know would
    not consult with you or follow orders??

    do we not have rules and regulations in place..

    do we not have laws, is there order no more??
