Breaking: David Paterson Will Not Run For NY Governor; Manhattan Madam Will

Today we witnessed a strange blurring between the world’s oldest profession and the second oldest profession…

Embattled Democratic Governor David Paterson of New York will not seek election. The big spending democrat lost support of his party and his constituents months ago.
The AP reported:

The New York governor is facing mounting calls to drop out of the race in the midst of controversy.

Democratic officials in Washington were informed of Paterson’s plans early Friday. These officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because Paterson had not publicly disclosed his plans.

UPDATE: Businesswoman Kristin Davis, “The Manhattan Madam,” announced that she will run for New York governor today.

From her email announcement:

Kristin Davis, known as the Manhattan Madam who supplied call girls for Eliot Spitzer when he was Attorney General and Governor, will announce her candidacy for Governor of New York State as an Independent Candidate at 11am on March 1, 2010 at the historic Roosevelt Hotel located at 45 East 45th Street at Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10017- 2nd floor, Sutton Suite.

At least she has a business background. That will be important since the state is bankrupt.
