Elitist reporter and media critic Bernie Goldberg lost crediblility tonight on The O’Reilly Factor after his attacks against anonymous far right “Kool-Aid drinkers.” Goldberg didn’t have the guts to name names. His attacks were all in code… Don’t they teach you in journalism school not to speak in generalities? Hopefully he’ll be able to back up his statements next time he comes on the show.

Maybe Goldberg can back up his claims with some proof that the “far right” is as awful as the far left was to Bush next time he comes on. This was a really shameful segment.

  1. Oh please! I like this blog, but don’t be so thin skinned.

  2. I believe that tail-of-the normal curve wingers are bad for the country, left or right.

    Thanks Bernie for saying so.

    You gained credibility with me.

  3. Jim, I just lost some respect for you.

Cool-aid drinking is lame, and yet here you are defending it, saying Bernie is wrong.

If you support a political party or a politician on everything he does, and if you go so over the top in your support of those others, you’re being an Obot.

You need to think for yourself.

That’s why Bernie is attacking cool-aid drinkers.

  4. Oh please, is right!
I predict this will be a classic:

“Maybe Goldberg can back up his claims with some proof that the “far right” is as awful as the far left was to Bush next time he comes on. This was a really shameful segment.”

All Goldberg needs for proof can be found, at times, right here.

  5. Well, you have to admit there are plenty of people on the Right who believe things without researching them. And yes, those people are no better than the people on the Left who do it. I’ll admit I’ve been guilty of it a few times; recently, I learned the hard way that I shouldn’t take something as true unless I have reliable evidence to back it up. It’s my duty as a patriotic American.

  6. I pretty much agree that the far right *is* as bad as the far left. I don’t want either of them anywhere near my government because neither of them can resist the temptation to try to use government to push their social agenda instead of allowing the people to sort out their own social agenda.

  7. Did you see the segment?
He looked like he was trying to burnish his image.
Faux sincerity and pretty weak arguments.
Definitely self serving, but that’s what pundits do to sell books.

  8. Sorry but he’s right. I often find myself thinking we are doing the same to thing to Obama the left did to Bush. Now maybe it’s payback but that’s not to say it’s not happening.

  9. I noticed that he brought up the BO “57 states” comment. Not one word about the treatment of Bush, Palin, Hillary, etc. by the left. The treatment they received from the left bordered on criminal.

If that’s Bernie’s measurement of the worst of rightwing bias, then I wonder what he calls the treatment of Palin’s children by the far left.

  10. What far right kool-aid drinkers? Names please. It is easy to use a blanket statement and say they exist without naming names and circumstances.

O’Reilly’s show is becoming harder and harder to watch, because it is evident that O’Reilly gets into the kool-aid himself once and awhile. O’Reilly prides himself on being right, but he isn’t smart enough to know that many of his viewers are far smarter than himself……and…..he was a brat when he was a kid….enough said.

  11. I believe Bernie predicted an observations such as yours tonight on the show…from the far right. I love your blog, man, but get a grip. There are wingnuts who routinely vilify the Prez regardless of what he says or does. Just as the moonbats did to Bush. Do you really want to be even remotely perceived as the right’s version of Obermann, Matthews, and their beclowned posse?

And, Goldberg an elitist? Come on.

  12. “I often find myself thinking we are doing the same to thing to Obama the left did to Bush. ”

    Really?

Where are the accusations of war crimes? Where are the network TV calls for his assassination? Where are the declarations of “selected, not elected”?

Obama’s being treated with kids gloves compared to the hell the left put Bush through.

  13. Goldberg is right, there are extremists on both sides who are not rational. There is nothing wrong with him pointing it out.

  14. Come on folks. How many speeches did Bush make where people were counting how many lies he made in a matter of minutes. Obama is a liar; everyone knows he is a liar, but everyone is expected to shut up and just suck it up….to h*ll with that. Obama is destroying America, and everyone outside of America knows it; it is just the stupid democrat supporters that are sucking everything Obama says through a wide straw who don’t get it. Obama needs to be called out on every single lie he tells, until every last American comes to the realization that they’ve been taken for a ride on a Marxist train to nowhereville…..and the good life is over.

  15. Lotta new names here, just read a recent article about the opposition flooding the airwaves, im sure this applies to the blogs also. I read a lot of blogs and there is NOTHING that compares what was done to BUSH and Palin from their respective day 1 in the public forum. Not even close in terms of breadth or depth. Bernie pissed me off tonight.

  16. BOR is a pompous bore. I can’t figure how he gets an audience.

  17. People can’t even ask for Obama’s Birth Certificate without being labelled ‘birthers’ and other nonsensical names. What does it take for Obama to prove his eligibility?

Let’s face it, the democrats would never stand for McCain not proving his eligibility, and they would raise the roof until he did. Every left-wing paper would be demanding McCain’s Birth Certificate ’til the cows came home, but Republicans, oh no, their news outlets just shut up and surrender to the threats from the left.

Do you know why Obama takes his teleprompters everywhere he goes? Because he is a horrible speaker, he knows it, and he and the democrats don’t want him to be ridiculed like they ridiculed Bush.

Goldberg should man up and name names.

  18. Your either on the right or on the left, there’s no such thing as being in the middle. That’s why the republicans keep losing because they want to in the middle.

Bernie, oreilly, beck, rush are all in the middle possibly with a tingling of left in them.

Palin is on the far right, Pastor Manning is in the extreme far right they won’t compromise, that’s the people I respect. All our founding fathers where far right. Patrick Henry was extreme far right.

    http://atlah.org/atlahworldwide/?cat=58

  19. Have you ever noticed how they don’t name any names or the positions these “so called” right wingers have?

These guys are just cowards, who are catching hell from the “elite” liberal friends in high society. This is the obligatory “I condemn them too” segment.

    Pathetic.

Oreilly is the type of knucklehead that needs someone to go to the car dealership with him. If you should warn him that the dealer is a crook he will condemn you as a far right ideologue. Later, after he has been ripped off he screams bloody murder. Not much you can do but say, “I told you so, IDIOT!”

  20. One other comment on moderates or people in the middle. These people are cowards who are constantly in need of approval of everyone in the room. They refuse to take hard position and their lines in the sand constantly shift which ever way the political wind is blowing.

In congress, the so called middle are the extortionists. I’m not sure if I can vote for this=how much are you going to give me to vote for it. They also are the liars like Evan Bayh who campaign as fiscal conservatives back home but in Washington vote 100% in lockstep with the machine.

  21. We will give as good we got.

I’ll stop when the Marxist is out of the people’s house.

  22. O Reilly goes overboard to try and be that guy
that appears to be fair to both sides. Come on Bill….Obama and his crew are not your friends.

  23. I like Bernie but he was stretching on this one. Number one, Bush never got a “pass” from the right. When he did stupid stuff like overspending and amnesty it was the right who called him on it. It was the right who stopped amnesty, not the left. Two, nobody made a “federal case” out of Obama’s 57 states gaffe. We made fun of him and contrasted to how the media treated the Bush gaffes which was a valid point.

  24. Obama isn’t an evil destructive man!

He’s just a freakin idiot who has stupid economic ideas.

He’s not trying to make everyone poor.

He ACTUALLY THINKS that his policies will help people!

He’s a moron, plain and simple!

You guys sound like Democrats, when you start calling him evil. All the Democrats ever do is call Bush evil.

  25. The fact that you attacked him basically proves his point.

    From the clip:
“The kool-aid drinking portion of your audience is going to be all over me because I dared criticize their heroes.”

  26. Please, Bill and Bernie, give us one name. Just ONE NAME. If you’re wading bravely into the “no spin zone” to throw rocks at the right, please have the courage to give us at least one name to let us know who you are talking about. Is O Reilly throwing his fellow showman Glen Beck under the bus? Who knows? Maybe Sean Hannity? No telling. The gonads were conspicuously absent during that little back patting segment.

  27. Well, if he was (somewhat obliquely) referring to Glenn Beck, he may just have a point. Beck seems to have gotten rather full of himself of late; and begun attacking anyone with whom he might disagree on a single issue or two as a “progressive” and, therefore. the functional equivalent of Stalin, Mao, Che and the like. Beck needs to grab the reins … or have the doc check the dosage on his meds.

  28. Hey Bernie, your RINO slip is showing. You need to team with McCain and reach across the aisle. And while your reaching let them pull you over where you belong.
I only have to remember the disgusting comments made by the libtards when Tony Snow died to know the left are the twisted, disgusting scum on this Earth.

  29. Maybe Goldberg can back up his claims with some proof that the “far right” is as awful as the far left was to Bush next time he comes on.

I view president #42 with a contempt that falls short of “total” only by a microscopic fraction. You might say that it’s Ivory-Soap-like: 99 and 44/100 % pure. Since the impeachment fiasco, I routinely refer to him as “the Slug.” But I saw things said about him in the last year or two of his term that made even me shake my head in disbelief.

Remember the “Clinton enemies list?” The claims that Vince Foster was murdered on the Bitch Queen’s orders? The claims that the Slug was going to engineer a national crisis sometime in 2000, and use it as an excuse to suspend the election and make himself president-for-life? I do. Yes, far-right loons can be just as looney as far-left loons.

  30. You call it like it is. Drinking cool aid is when you don’t.
If the boats turning hard to port you can’t deny it just because you’re some self-serving political hack.

    -From the ghost of Jonestown

  31. I had the same thought when I saw this segment earlier today.

  32. “koolaid drinkers” is a term meant to be applied to people who have cult following to a false leader as it originates from the Jones cult of Guiana. It was applied to blind delusional people who continued to worship Bill Clinton even after his sins were well proven. It applies to the Obama cult as well. The term does not apply to people who reject the cult leader because they correctly see the fraud for what he truely is. It is an abuse and misuse of the term “kool aide drinkers” when applied to those people who know Obama is a dangerous and destructive man.

  33. This isn’t the real point. The right gives away its power by not first establishing exactly what is meant by ‘far right,’ or ‘hard right,’ or ‘purist.’ Especially in cable tv venues. My impression has always been with these terms they really mean abortion (ie pro life). Rush has said the same thing numerous times. It is not helpful and wastes precious time by not using precise language. For example, there is no ‘far right’ view of global warming. One simply must avail themselves of news and analysis blocked by papers such as the NY Times, Washington Post and other media. And of course nor have a big account over at Goldman Sachs carbon trading desk.

  34. Please. Some of ya’ll need to stop drinking the Kool-aid on Kool-aid drinkers. Left and Right “Non-thinkers” are not equal.

What’s kool-aid of the Left? All illegal immigrants are saints working in horrible American factories, we’re all dead because of global warming, Dad won’t accept his gay son until he has a marriage certificate, but afterwards, watch out! Hella Pride Parades!

Kool-aid on the right? All Islamists are terrorists, government programs are at best pointless but more usually dangerous, abortion is destroying this country, especially its women.

I think it’s pretty obvious what the stronger brew of crazy is.

  35. Are there extremists on the far right? Certainly.
Are they embraced as spokesmen for the right? Certainly NOT.
Unlike the left, we do not embrace the extremists as “speaking truth to power” – but, rather, regard them somewhat like the crazy aunt in the attic.

No one has subjected obama – and his wife and daughters – to the vile smears, assassination threats, outlandish tales of depravity that sound like they came from a cheap novel. No one, except for some of the larouche crazies, has transposed obama’s face with hitler’s. No one has carried nooses and signs calling for the lynching of obama.

For eight, long years, George Bush was subjected to all of that, and worse. Yet he didn’t whine and snivel like some snot-nosed punk – or send his lackeys out to whine for him. He took it like a man and ignored the ass-clowns on the left.
Not so, obama. If anyone dissents from his marxist agenda, he’s labeled a racist and unAmerican. And our “president” calls them a “tea-bagger” (a vile epithet that wouldn’t have been used in mixed company by a gentleman like George Bush). What? Isn’t dissent patriotic any longer? It was when the leftists did it.

Obama hasn’t suffered one-hundredth of the trash that was thrown at Bush – though he has done far more to deserve it because of his blatant attempts to destroy everything that is America; and his sense of his “entitlement to live as an aristocrat on the American taxpayers’ dime. And he’s far from an aristocrat. He’s just a dirt-common street-corner agitator, far out of his depth – not only in his current executive position, but socially as well. He – and his mate – lack even the rudimentary class to behave properly in their current position.

On another note — It seems that there is suddenly an appearance of “concerned” writers on this blog defending goldberg’s assertions. Funny how that works. You don’t suppose that they could be a part of the axlerod astroturf team, could they? Of course, they’ll all assert that they’ve been long-time readers who felt “compelled” to write their first comment on this vital subject – to voice their “concern” for the appearance of the right.
Sorry, little trolls. We’ve seen too many of your type to be impressed by your outpouring of “concern”. It just doesn’t work any longer. (At least they aren’t claiming to be “life-long Republicans, forced to vote for hope ‘n’ change”.) You concern trolls are really going to have to find someone better to write your scripts. The ones you’ve got now suck. And we aren’t buying your act any longer.
The name of the game is “Adapt or Die”. We’re adapting in order to survive and defeat the leftist looters. The left – not so much. (But they do whine a lot.)

“Unlike the left, we do not embrace the extremists as “speaking truth to power” – but, rather, regard them somewhat like the crazy aunt in the attic.”

To sample some of the the left’s “Kool-Aid” (sp correction made: ) see the FBI’s top domestic terrorist:

    http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/fugitives/dt/fug_dt.htm

It’s all argument until people start dying. The left crossed the line long ago and we’ve been too patient. We tolerated the intolerant.

  37. I was upset with Bill because he always said that he disapproves of hateful writing on both the right and left but then he defended the right tonight . How many times has he condemned the left…many!!

  38. Here we are, we have a Communist in the White House, selected by idiots, and O’Reilly and his guests are distracting some fools -like many of these commentators- from the real danger that this Communist Regime is inflicting on America.

Who gives a damn about the Right? Who is in power now? This M.F. is destroying our country and what are we doing about it? NOTHING!! Just arguing like kids about who said this and who said that, who is far right, who is far left.

Instead of focusing on the Traitors that we have in D.C., we’re fighting among each other, and these traitors love to see us fighting.

    IDIOTS!!

Hell, yeah, that’s exactly who they are.

Hey, trolls. Tell your masters that we’re on to you and them. The blog trolling doesn’t work on us anymore. The Alinsky tactics don’t work anymore. Tell them we’re wise to their game and won’t be distracted by them anymore. Then tell them you quit, start thinking for yourselves and forming your own opinions.

    February 1st, 2010 | 11:59 pm | #41

You’re right, Paul. The progressives are in power now, not the right. We’ve got to keep our focus on the progressives. Whatever the extreme right wingers may or may not be saying doesn’t matter right now.

  41. Paul…You are paranoid! Like Glen Beck. THAT is why i am scared for my country.

  42. Oh the scramble for spin is getting more furious with each passing day. It’s kind feels like-the guy who almost runs you off the road and later gets pulled over as you drive by laughing (you knew he would eventually get caught-but never thought you’d get to see it!). Stick to the truth people, it will prevail in the end. The far left will never concede the nonsense they have been selling for years but, they will be rendered irrelevant when Olbermann and Matthews are the only followers left. Dare to dream…

  43. This was just Bernie Goldberg’s “political correctness.”

We’re all alike, deep inside. The far right is just as bad as the far left. Israel is just as bad as Hamas. Some Quakers are just as bad as Osama bin Laden.

    My take:

    http://www.redstate.com/barrypopik/2010/02/02/bernie-goldberg-attacks-the-right-on-the-oreilly-factor/

  44. Kathy Kenslow, SOBama counts on people like you, the sheep, to advance his Communist agenda with his comrades in Congress and outside Congress, to ENSLAVE you and us.

  45. You have to consider the amount of people either side is reaching. A Left-wing nut case or a right-wing nut case who is on the fringe are not important and do not affect anyone but a fellow fringer. Those on the right like Rush, Glenn, Savage, Hannity etc are responsible basically all the time whether you agree or not.
People like Chris Matthews, Olbermann and others of less stature on the left are vicious and down right deliberate deceivers most of the time.
Goldberg was a typical CBS lefty when he was there, fell by the wayside and became a non entity. FOX and O’Rielly gave him new life so he became a Johnny come lately conservative. He is still an arrogant ass most of the time only with a right-wing tilt. Being conservative helps him sell books and vent his rage against the left who ditched him,

  46. Bernie has watched O’reilly, seen which way o’reilly is going, and got on board. I think that is the only show bernie is on, o’reilly is in the bucket for obama, end result, go where the money is.
And you will notice that in order for anyone supposedly on the right, to be considered “fair and balanced” they must heap insults on the right, a gentle nudge to the left and, tada, all is even. I’m not buying it. I’d just like to know if o’reilly has truly bought the nonsense from obama or do they have some special information on him that makes him toe the line?

  47. This is a continuation of some of the thinly vialed criticisms against Beck and Hannity that Bernie Goldberg (O’Rielly by proxy)has made in the past.

  48. Nice read Barry Popik

  50. Well, it was rather an unfortunate oversight on Bernie’s part not to name some names, but I might be able to take up the slack for him. Here are a few names that come to mind:

    Lew Rockwell
    Murray Rothbard
    Eric Margolis
    Patrick Buchanan
    Lawrence Vance
    Glenn Greenwald
    Karen De Coster
    Ron Paul

These wretches are such a disgrace that most of us on the right have disowned them for the too-extreme-for-the-political-spectrum nutjobs they are, but they do fit Bernie’s description.

You’ll notice that all of these freaks have something else in common: they were every bit as lying, hateful, and treasonous as any of their bosom buddies on the left when it came to bashing Bush, which they all did with a relish. They’re all anti-American terrorist-lovers and Israel-bashing anti-semites as well, just like virtually everyone on the left.

Most of them have already been kicked out of the GOP, and serves them right. What a disgrace they are to us all.
