Thousands may be dead in Haiti.
France fears that everyone inside the UN compound may not have survived the quake.
The Vatican announced that Archbishop Serge Miot of Port-au-Prince was killed in the earthquake yesterday. (Le Nouvelliste)
FOX reported:
The archbishop of Port-au-Prince was killed in the massive earthquake that devastated the Haitian capital and taken untold lives since striking Tuesday, according to a dispatch from the Vatican.
The body of Msgr. Joseph Serge Miot, 65, was found under the rubble of the archdiocese, and may be one of only hundreds of victims trapped in the ruins of the building.
The Pope activated world Catholic Charities for Haiti today following the devastating quake. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

Bernard Sansaricq, is a Congressional candidate (FL-23) and is from Haiti.
He is currently ramping up a setup to help. At the moment, all I have is a phone number and e-mail address…… the system should be setup and online within a few hours and I’ll send off the info to Jim when I get it.
This is from Mr. S to anyone anywhere who wants to help………..Whatever you do, please avoid ANY charity/source that will give your aid to the Haitian government for distribution…….. Aid sent that way will NEVER get to the people in need…… The track record of the unimaginable corruption of the Haitian government proves it.
Yes, that’s pretty screwed up to say in a time of need like this, but the stark reality is there. He can prove it……. Most of his family was assassinated because they were trying to do the right thing in the country…… Bernard was also president of The Haitian Senate for a while and tried to stop the madness…… Needless to say, he left his homeland and was lucky to get out of there alive.

Obama has yet to send in the 4th Fleet to help with the disaster. Bush in the past has ordered fleets to assist in natural disaster zones. Maybe he’s planning a party this week instead.

Haitian Earthquake Relief Fraud Alert
The FBI today reminds Internet users who receive appeals to donate money in
the aftermath of Tuesday’s earthquake in Haiti to apply a critical eye and
do their due diligence before responding to those requests. Past tragedies
and natural disasters have prompted individuals with criminal intent to
solicit contributions purportedly for a charitable organization and/or a
good cause.
Therefore, before making a donation of any kind, consumers should adhere to
certain guidelines, to include the following:
§ Do not respond to any unsolicited (spam) incoming e-mails, including
clicking links contained within those messages.
§ Be skeptical of individuals representing themselves as surviving victims
or officials asking for donations via e-mail or social networking sites.
§ Verify the legitimacy of nonprofit organizations by utilizing various
Internet-based resources that may assist in confirming the group’s existence
and its nonprofit status rather than following a purported link to the site.
§ Be cautious of e-mails that claim to show pictures of the disaster areas
in attached files because the files may contain viruses. Only open
attachments from known senders.
§ Make contributions directly to known organizations rather than relying on
others to make the donation on your behalf to ensure contributions are
received and used for intended purposes.
§ Do not give your personal or financial information to anyone who solicits
contributions: Providing such information may compromise your identity and
make you vulnerable to identity theft.
Anyone who has received an e-mail referencing the above information or
anyone who may have been a victim of this or a similar incident should
notify the IC3 via http://www.ic3.gov .

The Japanese are researching this behavior. Prior to the Kobe quake in the 90s there was a sudden and significant increase of dog attacks in the area. Even harmless dogs would suddenly bite their owners.
Obama has to evaluate the situation first. So expect a reaction after 90+ days.
