Someone didn’t get the message…
Nancy Pelosi told reporters last night that depite Scott Brown’s huge win in Massachusetts that she would move forward with her plan to ram Obamacare through Congress. Pelosi was meeting with other democratic leaders late at night in a closed session in her office.
The Politico reported:

Republican Scott Brown’s upset win in Massachusetts Tuesday threatened to derail any hopes of passing a health reform bill this year, as the White House and Democratic leaders faced growing resistance from rank-and-file members to pressing ahead with a bill following the Bay State backlash.

Democratic leaders insisted they planned to press ahead with health reform, and met late into Tuesday night in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office. But they made no decisions about how to proceed, now that Brown has swept away the Democrats’ filibuster-proof 60-vote majority in the Senate.

Their options are few, and extremely complex, mostly involving legislative tactics that would be difficult to pull off in the best of circumstances, let alone at a time when members are worried they could be the next Martha Coakley – a seeming Democratic shoo-in laid low, in part, by health reform.

And already Tuesday night, Democrats were being forced to come to terms with the prospect that their decades-long goal of health reform might once again fall short, despite getting closer to becoming law than ever before.

Pelosi insisted Democrats could still make it happen. “We will get the job done. I am confident of that. I have always been confident of that,” she told reporters as she left the Capitol at 11:30 p.m.

“Massachusetts has health care and so the rest of the country would like to have that too,” Pelosi said, referring to the state’s health care program. “So we don’t [think] a state that already has health care should determine whether the rest of the country should.”

Not even Barney Frank was this clueless.
Frank released a statement last night calling on Congress to change course on health care.

  1. Nancy still does not understand that she works for the people of San Francisco and by proxy, the American people. The results of last night should have been a wake up call for her, but she is the epitome of the blonde jokes that go around. When she sitting at home with nothing to do, maybe she will realize that American people are the real political masters and she is the employee, not the other way around.

  2. “Massachusetts has health care and so the rest of the country would like to have that too,”

Um, San Fran Nan? EVERY state has health care. It’s just that not every state has socialized medicine. Funny how leftists see them as one and the same.

“So we don’t [think] a state that already has health care should determine whether the rest of the country should.”

Exactly right. So each state should make ITS OWN determination how to handle health care and health insurance. The 10th Amendment is a beautiful thing, Nan. Look into it.

  3. Pelosi, Reid and Obama are true socialist believers. They will sacrifice every one of their collegues seats if they feel they must. And they feel they must. Don’t change a thing Nan, the prozac makes you feel everythings allright doesn’t it!. And Harry Reid, you’re toast. You won’t be re-elected. Obama?? LOL.

  4. “Massachusetts has health care and so the rest of the country would like to have that too,”

  6. What a delusional hag.
That woman needs some top notch medical care and not socialized medicine.

  7. Don’t expect her to be the one thinking clearly.

Her more moderate colleagues will have to put some common sense into government. The Kos fanatics and Pelosi/Reid are not the leaders to look to.

  8. “Massachusetts has health care and so the rest of the country would like to have that too,” Pelosi said…

If you change the name of the state and the current economic situation, you’d get:

“Michigan has 15% unemployment and so the rest of the country would like to have that too,” Pelosi said.

Good ol’ libs – always eager to spread misery nationwide.

  9. Their options are few, and extremely complex

Actually, there is one simple option – get some squishy RINO to flip to their side.

  10. “So we don’t [think] politicians that already have health care should determine whether the rest of the country should.”

  11. coakley won springfield 17,610 to brown’s 10,630 – worcester 19,861 to brown’s 17,889 holyoke 4,869 to brown’s 3,771. westfield came out for brown 7,732 to coakley’s 4,542. hampden county supported brown [towns] while
franklin and hampshire counties supported coakley. big cities [surprise] supported coakley

  12. Go ahead Nancy, make my day.

  13. Pelosi’s brain is as dead as her face looks.

  14. Nancy, close, but you forgot a word …

“Massachusetts has SOCIALIZED health care and so the rest of the country would like to have that too,”

“So we don’t [think] a state that already has SOCIALIZED health care should determine whether the rest of the country should.”

  15. This should come as absolutely no surprise. She’s being your typical, stubborn Democrat – unwilling to acknowledge the obvious. She also is probably thinking of how things still look on paper, namely that the Dems still have large majorities in both houses of Congress but the psychological factor in Scott Brown’s victory is huge. This wasn’t a special election in Texas or South Carolina or even Ohio – this was in far, far left Massachusetts and shows that no Democrat is invulnerable to unseating this November which could well spark quite a few more retirements as we’ve seen with Byron Dorgan and others.

  16. Frankly I would rather that Pelosi and Obama and Reid stick to their guns and keep ramming things through as hard as they can. It will only be a bigger crack-up within the Demcratic party and a bigger demise this fall. I think they’re past the point of no return though, they have no choice. FLAME ON idiots! your party will be nothing but smoldering embers by the end of the year.

  17. Hey Grandma, keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t change a thing. You’re doing a fantastic job. Fantastic, I tell ya.

note: Conservatives need to keep grandma on the payroll. She’s doing a great job for us. No way we could’ve done this ourselves.
