The nuns from Mount Saint Mary’s Abbey in Wrentham, from their Facebook page.

Senator Scott Brown, a protestant, raised money for an order of Cistercian Catholic nuns in Wrentham. Brown has a special relationship with the order. As a bonus, the nuns told him they pray for him three times a day.
Catholic Vote Action reported:

The [Brown] family … has developed a special relationship with an order of Cistercian Catholic nuns at Mt. St. Mary’s Abbey in Wrentham.

Many of the 48 nuns are from other countries, and Brown’s first contact was in response to their request for help on an immigration matter.

“It has turned into a beautiful friendship,” said Sister Katie McNamara, the monastery’s nurse.

Brown raised money to buy a special golf cart to transport elderly sisters, and, with his wife, has assisted efforts to raise $5.5 million needed to replace the order’s 50-year-old candy factory with an environmentally friendly plant, complete with solar panels and a wind turbine. The order is self-sustaining through sale of its candies and fudges.

“We pray for them every day,” Sister Katie said of Brown and his family.

When you have nuns praying for you three times a day and you’re not Catholic, anything that anybody can do or say about me, it’s Teflon,” Brown said. “It bounces right off.”

Besides cooking the nuns also sing and released a CD.

  1. They wear habits. That’s a good sign. I had feared they were pantsuit-wearers.

  2. What a nice story!

  3. Good news of the day. :)

  4. Not only are they wearing habits, the average age of the group is not 65+. Another good sign.

  5. He’s on a mission from God.

  6. Hmmmm….Teflon eh?

I can of reminds of someone else that had the moniker.

Can anyone think of who that was?

  7. does anyone else see the hand of GOD in all of the events this week?? Only the Grand Creator could do all of this to embarrass “the zero” LOL

  8. What no link for the fudge?

  9. A statement of the type of man and his family are. Libs will trash this beautiful story. Where has this guy been hiding?

  10. Militant Conservative #9
Yes. Along with the snow and climategate.

  11. That explains so much. He’s a blessed man, indeed.

  12. We are seeing a lot of fudge in Climate gate. It is ironic that a conservative is doing energy conservation again and not getting credit for it.

  13. ++

yes, Scott Brown is a Republican..

but why do so many refer to him as “conservative”??

i’ve never heard him refer to himself as anything other than an “independent” who will put his country & constituency first (&/
    or vise verse)..

  14. I hope entire world will soon witness the

Ways of Man – lies and manipulation, work dedicated to Lucifer (Alinsky) – and its ultimate failure.

    versus

Faith in the Almighty – prayer and humility, service to others, not self-interest – and its ultimate victory.

  15. Greetings:

God, how that story made me miss the good Sisters (of Mercy) who tried so hard to make an intelligent human being out of me.

One of the things that continues to amaze me is how, in all the articles about education, the Catholic school system never comes up as a “best practices” model.

  16. God bless Scott Brown — he is a good guy. Tonight Greta is going to Wrenthan, Mass. to find out more about him. I’m not sure if he will be interviewed by her but I can’t get enough of Scott Brown so I will watch with fingers crossed.

  17. God bless Scott Brown and his family.

  18. Great! So glad you posted this.

  19. Wow, a real palate cleanser. And yes the Catholic education is generally way better than the state schools. I was fortunate to attend one of the schools years 1 – 8.

  20. Guess NOW has to revise their newly constructed phony meme they just concocted against Brown.

    Ha ha!

  21. “When you have nuns praying for you three times a day and you’re not Catholic, anything that anybody can do or say about me, it’s Teflon,” Brown said. “It bounces right off.”

    Perfect definition of faith.

  22. Can’t wait to see how the lame stream media covers this story……..oh wait

  23. What a great story….thanks for posting it…wish I knew more about the fudge…where can we order it???

  24. found the site…
    http://www.abbey.msmabbey.org.

  25. thank you for posting this, i think scott brown is a great guy for helping the nuns like that, especially since brown is not catholic.

  26. I had wondered about Brown’s relationship to the Abbey. Wrentham is hilly and wooded with a few farms and no industry to speak of. The Cistercian Abbey is situated at the end of a long winding driveway, on a hilltop, with a beautiful rustic chapel. If Wrentham is known for anything, it’s for the Abbey.

My great uncle donated the land and brought the original twelve Sisters over from Ireland. My father was their attorney. Their primary source of income is Trappistine candy. So please buy the candy, and if you’re ever near Wrentham, visit the chapel. You’ll be transported back to another age, and another state of mind.

  27. Scott Brown was the right person for the moment. But I do not believe for one minute that he will not help to grow the government. He is a RINO. The only reason I supported his candidacy this time is that he would stop the vote on the health care bill which he did. He is NOT a conservative. He supports Roe vs. Wade and said so.

I suggest that all conservatives should keep their eye on him and vote him out if he proves to go against conservative values in the future.
