Battered but not broken.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger slammed Obamacare and the bribe-takers who passed the nationalized health care bill last month in his State of the State Address today in California.
The Politico reported:
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger savaged congressional plans for health reform in his 2010 State of the State address on Wednesday, calling the legislation “health care to nowhere” that’s infected with “bribes, deals and loopholes.”
… “While I enthusiastically support health care reform, it is not reform to push more costs onto states that are already struggling while other states get sweetheart deals,” Schwarzenegger said before a joint session of the California State Legislature.
“Health care reform, which started as noble and needed legislation, has become a trough of bribes, deals and loopholes. You’ve heard of the bridge to nowhere. This is health care to nowhere. California’s congressional delegation should either vote against this bill that is a disaster for California or get in there and fight for the same sweetheart deal Senator Nelson of Nebraska got for the Cornhusker State. He got the corn; we got the husk.“

Ahhhnold is lining himself up for that payoff/bribe he mentioned in his speech.
Californicate is BROKE – flat busted – and in dire need of a bailout. Around 10 billion of our tax dollars ought to do it …. for now. Maybe another 5-10 billion next Summer, when the cost of votes skyrockets!
O Bomber will pay it, too. The Dems need every vote they can get and the Golden State is full of ‘em.
Look for a major bailout announcement, coming soon to White House that must have a money printing press in the basement.

This will kill the bill. Everyone is going to scream for the same deal and then who is going to pay for it?

I’m sure there was mostly liberal pap in the rest of his address, but this little snippet was good stuff.

“….get in there and fight for the same sweetheart deal Senator Nelson of Nebraska got for the Cornhusker State…..“
Rather than advise lawmakers to kill or fix the bill, he says if it can’t be fixed then at least lawmakers need to screw over the rest of the country so Californians don’t have to pay.
What a weasel.

Wow!!! He’s against it unless he gets his state a sweetheart deal. Way to support America!!!!!

Last time I saw Arnie, he was sucking up to Obama, giving high fives about healthcare. What happened? Did he finally bother to find out what’s in this crap sandwich?
So Arnold finally woke up and smelled the Starbucks, hm? We need more governors screaming and yelling about this abomination of a bill.

That’s my GOV. He is upset that Boxer didn’t get any deal for CA. Babs has no problem whoring herself out so I can’t figure why she didn’t get bucks for CA. The state is broke, actually worse than that spending more each day than we have. Who is going to pay for all the illegals health care? The tax payers, just like they do now.
Dell commented:
It’s no secret; the Obama health care plan is going to cost the states HUGE dollars; dollars they absolutely do NOT have, nor will they get by heavy taxation or drastic cuts in services. So, what to do??
That’s right; call the federal government for more money. And where does THAT money come from???
Now you’re getting smarter, grasshopper!
Boogy commented:
The Federal Government handed out all our monies and they have no more. So they look to the States to force taxation to then take it to the federal level. This makes governors look bad. Obummer is a liar, fraud, and evil person and cares only about his bank account and TV exposure.
Medical had deep cuts on 1 july 2009 — ordered by the Obummer fraud, and so people cannot get basic things — it was really a short fall of monies. Now Obummer needs more monies and no one has any of it because he spent it on his rich friends who put him in office. Obummer is the worst thing for any state or government in this history of the human race.
Militant Conservative commented:
This is the intent. Professors Cloward and Plivin wrote about how to destroy a capitolistic society. Barry the Marxist is following this to a tee. In short overwhelm the capitolistic system by spending more that it can handle or enrolling more for social services than can be properly handled.
Finncrisp commented:
Right here, right now, it is clear that for the next 11 months, all the unipartisan mischef these clowns can crank out will be there. the fawning media will lament how many dems have decided their work is done and won’t run for reelection, but that is about it. We need to focus on overt activism and organize for the big takeover that will come after all this damage is done. Arnold is too little , too late. As Harry said, the war for California is lost. He will be relegated to the ashheap of unremarkable actor turned politicians. He has lots of company.

Gov. Paterson spoke before the NY legislature blistering one and all on the state’s fiscal bleakness. He did not get a rousing greeting or goodbye, but at least he said what needed to be said.
spayandneuter commented:
I like Arnold. I always thought that he ran for Gov for the right reasons. He already has fame/fortune, I think he really wanted to make a difference and serve.
California is in very bad shape, spending more than they bring in, oh wait, so is the US gov’t. All the states are hurting, I think the only two with a surplus right now are Texas and Alaska, and that is because of the oil revenues.

From his speech.
“He got the corn; we got the husk.“
If he were not a RINO he would see this isn’t such a bad deal. The husk and stalk of corn, or as they likely call it in CA maize, is composed completely of plant cellulose. Anyone who knows the least about the production of ethanol can see this is a huge boon for CA and it’s green agenda. They are even researching this process at UC Berkley.

generic or not, we have way too many years left
with Obama at the helm for those at the helm..
i would urge everyone to take this seriously.. the MSM is NOT REPORTING what is going down in the Halls of Congress, not only
behind our backs, but the Republicans as well (excluding the way
too many RINO’S of course.. some times i even think they take
turns as to who will be the “party spoiler” so to speak.. *sigh*)..
[Many are puzzled that Democrats persist in ramming unpopular and destructive legislation down our collective throats while seemingly unconcerned by their plummeting poll numbers. A widespread belief is that the Democrats are committing political suicide and will be swept from one or both houses of Congress with unprecedented electoral losses next November. But since Democrat politicians rarely do things that will not ultimately benefit themselves, this column asked two weeks ago: "what do they know that we don't?"
We may have found out. It's called universal voter registration.
[..]
‘In January, Chuck Schumer and Barney Frank will propose universal voter registration. What is universal voter registration? It means all of the state laws on elections will be overriden by a federal mandate. The feds will tell the states: ‘take everyone on every list of welfare that you have, take everyone on every list of unemployed you have, take everyone on every list of property owners, take everyone on every list of driver’s license holders and register them to vote regardless of whether they want to be…’]

Arnold should have simply said that the Congressional Delegation should vote against this bill that is a disaster for California. It is a disaster for every state. The flaw in Arnold’s thinking is that he implicitly recognizes that the federal government has the authority to do this at all. As a Governor he should not be exhorting his Congressional Delegation to fight for a sweetheart deal, he should be threatening to nullify this monstrosity by invoking the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution.

This is the same “Schwarzenbeggar” who wants the rest of the country to cough up money to bail out Cuhlifornia.
curt commented:
I believed, for most of this “debate”, that unpleasant aspects of this health care bill (higher insurance premiums, rationed care) were UNENTENDED consequences of poor legistration.
I was mistaken. It is part of a well thought out plan, and has been designed to throw a wrench into the gears. A few years down the road, after Obama has been reelected, people will be angry that health care not working they way congress and Obama said it would. People will cry out for lower costs and increased availability once again and the NEXT reform, taking even more of our freedoms away will be enacted, and then the next, and the next, and the next…..
This is not about health care, this is a “Jobs Program” for Congress. And Oh, what a program. Senator X or Congressman Y can tell his friends at DC Cocktail parties about how many constituents DEPEND on him for their very lives, and how he can deprive his political rivals and their families of LIFE with just a phone call, and “aren’t my serfs.. I mean, my constituents, oh so very smart for sending a kind and wise man like myself to Congress, I shudder to think how bad it would have been for them, if they had elected a mean, selfish, and stupid Republican.”
I get why the doors are locked.
Blacque Jacques Shellacque commented:
Interesting.
Sounds to me like he’s against this “reform” not because it’s an unwarranted, expensive, and dangerous expansion of government, but because California isn’t getting one of those much-desired sweetheart deals.
