Sarah Palin Rebuffs CPAC – Turns Down Invite to Speak at High-Profile Gathering

Sarah Palin turned down an invitation to speak at CPAC this year. The governor does not want to be associated with scandal-plagued organizer David Keene.
The Politico reported:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Pain is turning down an invitation to speak at one high-profile conservative gathering while accepting another.
Palin is declining an invitation to address the Conservative Political Action Conference next month because, a source said, she does not want to be affiliated with the longtime organizer of the traditional movement confab.
At issue is the role of David Keene, head of the American Conservative Union which organizes CPAC. In September, POLITICO reported that Keene asked FedEx for between $2 million and $3 million to get the group’s support in a bitter legislative battle with rival UPS.
A source close to the Palin camp says that request led to a decision to stay away from the upcoming CPAC conference, calling it a forum that will place “special interests over core beliefs” and “pocketbook over policy.”
“That’s not what CPAC should be about and people are tiring,” the source said. “Palin is taking a stance against this just as she did in Alaska.”
When asked about the move, Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton said: “We support those who advance our core beliefs and lead by principle.”
John Ziegler ought to love this after his run-in with Keene at Western CPAC.

As an attendee of CPAC and WESTERN CPAC I am disappointed that Sarah turned down CPAC. There may be problems with the Keene & the leadership but to the average attendee this is a slap in our face. Is she too perfect for all of us. Without lowering her principles I wish she could have worked something out for the 10,000+ conservatives would have loved to have seen her. I wonder what invitation she did accept?

Thanks for at least reading the article. The point is still: She appointed a pro abortion judge to the bench. Period. She could have refused them all until a conservative judge surfaced. After all, she did that when the Democrats submitted a list of nominees to fill a vacant democratic seat on the State legislature. She ignored them until they relented.

The only reason I paid attention to CPAC was to hear Rush last year. I caught a glimpse of the oily, beady eyed Gingrich getting his camera time and that ended it for me. I don’t care how many people they get to their meeting, their best efforts lost us our country. There were many times in recent years-if they were a group serious about saving our country-they could have used certain members or created venues the media had to cover-to loudly protest, expose, and shut the government down over the origin and viral growth of the sub prime scam, the growth of the fraud of global warming and cap and trade, illegal immigration-which numbers of their members would scorn opponents as ideological purists-when it’s simply a matter of life and death, the ascendancy of Soros and Goldman Sachs, and others. CPAC had its moment in the sun with Rush, but aside from that, this group by omission or commission is as dangerous as George Soros. They are a failure. I hope Sarah never goes anyplace Gingrich is.
