Change?… Not here.
Like President Obama on Wednesday, Robert Gibbs today on FOX News Sunday denied that the Scott Brown’s win in Massachusetts was an indictment of democratic policies and practices in Washington DC.
Go with it libs:
Here’s the partial transcript:
Chris Wallace: It wasn’t the same thing that swept Barack Obama into office. Scott Brown explicitly campaigned against the Obama agenda. His approval rating among that electorate was 61%. Their enthusiasm for Republican policies among that electorate was 40%.
Chris Wallace: But your not suggesting that this was a mandate for Barack Obama?
Robert Gibbs: No. Of course not. But I’m also not suggesting that what you said a minute ago meets the truth test either.
Chris Wallace: You don’t think that when they voted for Scott Brown they were voting against Obama’s policies?
Robert Gibbs: That’s not what they told pollsters. No.
Robert Gibbs on Scott Brown’s win: That may be what he campaigned on but that’s not what the voters in Massachusetts said in the Washington Post poll… They did a poll of voters who participated in why they voted. Right. More people voted express their support for Barack Obama than to oppose him.
That’s right, Robert. Keep ramming that radical agenda down America’s throat.

The arrogant elitist Mr. Obama is trying to turn himself into a populist which defies imagination. Maybe some of the people were supporting the Dems in Congress who oppose B.O.’s policies, just not supporting B.O. himself. They may like B.O. as a person, but not his policies. This is the disconnect the Dems are making.

A Brilliant Progressive Diatribe Aimed At Obama
President Barack Obama has arrived, in just one year, at the very place no politician ever wants to be: the object of satire and scorn heaped on him by his very own supporters. David Michael Green, a professor of Political Science at Hofstra, has written a withering piece about the President and his political party.
Dr. Green’s progressive political beliefs are somewhere to the Left of George McGovern, a point which will become clear when you read his article. No one can tear the hide off of a progressive as well as one of their own. Here is a teaser:

The Obama Administration has mastered what George Orwell called Newspeak. “In contrast, Barack Obama had solid support from the more than 80 percent of Massachusetts voters in the presidential election who viewed the country as off-course in November 2008.”

63% thought the country was on the wrong track last week and two-thirds of them voted for Brown.
In November of 2008, 80% of the people in Massachusetts thought the country was off course and voted for Barack.

The hardest thing I have ever done is raise children from infancy to being out on their own. It was a HUGE responsibility. No way I would want to be responsible for every person in the US.
IMHO, you have to be crazy to even think about wanting to have so much responsibility on your shoulders. But if you want it, and then get it, then you own it, and do the best you can, but don’t blame everybody else for it!

Here’s what bugs me about this…
Obama ran for president and won, and he interprets THAT election as a mandate for his and the Democrats’ radical policies (which he never really explained during the election anyway). Even the media admits he won because of anti-Bush anti-Republican sentiment.
But when Scott Brown runs for Senate on the platform of killing Obamacare and he wins, Obama/Gibbs/etc interpret that to mean that people support Obama.
So when Obama wins an election, it means the people support him (even though they were more interested in kicking out those currently in power), and when Obama loses and election (vicariously through Coakley) it means the people support him (even though they voted for the guy who totally opposed Obama’s policies).

“The poll purports to tell us that 35% of BROWN voters were ACTUALLY voting for Obamacare and the rest of his agenda.”
Huh??? The poll doesn’t say any such thing! Here’s what it actually says:
In response to question 9 of the poll, only 4% of Brown voters said their vote was “to express support for Obama.” A full 43% of Brown voters said their vote was “to express opposition to Obama.” 52% of Brown voters said Obama “was not a factor” in their vote for Brown.
In response to question 9a of the poll, only 5% of Brown voters said their vote was “to express support for the Democratic agenda in Washington.” A full 65% of Brown voters said their vote was “to express opposition to the Democratic agenda in Washington.” The rest of Brown voters — 29% — said the Democratic agenda “was not a factor” in their vote for Brown.
In response to question 10 of the poll, only 24% of Brown voters said they were personally satisfied with the Obama administration policies. A full 75% of Brown voters said they were personally dissatisfied with those policies.
Finally, in response to question 18 of the poll — the ONLY poll question specifically asking Brown and Coakley voters their positions on the Democrats’ proposed changes to the health care system — only 13% of Brown voters said they support the Democrats’ proposed health care changes. A whopping 80% of Brown voters said they oppose the Democrats’ proposed health care changes.
So the bottom line is: Anyone who claims the Washington Post-Kaiser-Harvard poll shows that 35% of Brown voters “were actually voting for Obamacare and the rest of his agenda” is either lying, illiterate, or both.
In Robert “Baghdad Bob” Gibbs’ case, I’d have to guess both.
