Change?… Not here.
Like President Obama on Wednesday, Robert Gibbs today on FOX News Sunday denied that the Scott Brown’s win in Massachusetts was an indictment of democratic policies and practices in Washington DC.
Go with it libs:

Here’s the partial transcript:

Chris Wallace: It wasn’t the same thing that swept Barack Obama into office. Scott Brown explicitly campaigned against the Obama agenda. His approval rating among that electorate was 61%. Their enthusiasm for Republican policies among that electorate was 40%.

Chris Wallace: But your not suggesting that this was a mandate for Barack Obama?

Robert Gibbs: No. Of course not. But I’m also not suggesting that what you said a minute ago meets the truth test either.

Chris Wallace: You don’t think that when they voted for Scott Brown they were voting against Obama’s policies?

Robert Gibbs: That’s not what they told pollsters. No.

Robert Gibbs on Scott Brown’s win: That may be what he campaigned on but that’s not what the voters in Massachusetts said in the Washington Post poll… They did a poll of voters who participated in why they voted. Right. More people voted express their support for Barack Obama than to oppose him.

That’s right, Robert. Keep ramming that radical agenda down America’s throat.

  10. It’s only a flesh wound.

  15. So the polls coming out of the election stated the voters supported Barack Obama! That is 100% correct! Back in 2008!

  16. The arrogant elitist Mr. Obama is trying to turn himself into a populist which defies imagination. His humility scam started with the Town Hall meeting in Ohio where he discussed himself in the third person–so as to congratulate himself with out looking self-congratulatory. I think he believes the electorate was dumb enough to fall for his Messiah persona — they are going to love this. I have even heard Dems say Scott Brown’s win was a repudiation of Republicans. They say pride goeth before the fall. Groveling goeth after the fall.

Keep talking Gibbs trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Can’t wait for you to say that all Obama’s scandals were initiated by Bush.

  23. Obama looks unstable and the Congressional Dems who said the day before that Healthcare was dead appear to have had a sudden change of heart — or have they? How best to agree with the crazy aunt in the attic? Agree with everything she says and then ignore her.

  24. AS long as they don’t realize that they are the problem then that is good for Republicans in 2010.

I would not be surprised if Obama goes even more socialist in the next few months.

  25. Maybe this is a case of “no one wants to tell Obama”, so Gibbs just keeps doing his Baghdad Bob impression.

  26. OCBill — You got it — Gibbsy is Bagdad Bob lolol

  27. Well, in his warped mind, I GUESS the ones who voted FOR Coakley supported Obama. Whatever. It doesn’t matter. More people voted AGAINST Coakley, so I guess that’s a repudiation of Obama.

But what do I know? They are trying to spin this so fast, I am questioning my own grasp on reality.

Wouldn’t you love to hear Brown’s response to this?

    My thoughts exactly!

Every time Gibbs issues forth his incredible spin, my thoughts instantly return to “Baghdad Bob” and his lie-a-minute statements just minutes before American troops drove him off his pedestal.

Gibbs’ lies are so absolutely incredible, it makes my head hurt.

  43. I have barely watched this man during this past horrendous year. What little I have seen of him, however, indicates to me that he is perfect for his job as press liaison. He appears to be completely without shame, so, therefore, he simply cannot be embarrassed. It would be interesting to observe, though, if we had a hard-hitting press core. Were he really nailed to provide an answer by a tenacious Press, he might actually break a sweat now and then. Not that that is ever going to happen with the present cadre of “journalists”.

  44. He going to Bankrupt us with this Stupid green jobs, solid panel and wind mills not going to get it.We have so much oil,gas and coal their would be very little that we would have to buy.

  45. I have heard the State of the Unions address is going to be every thing bad is Bush falut, any thing you can find that good then he done it.

  46. A poll being shown on Fox of those who voted for Scott Brown shows almost the same percentage in order to support the Republicans or to support the Democrats. I think it was 35% and 34% respectively. I am going . . . “Huh?” But then I started thinking ing about it.

Maybe some of the people were supporting the Dems in Congress who oppose B.O.’s policies, just not supporting B.O. himself. They may like B.O. as a person, but not his policies. This is the disconnect the Dems are making.

I don’t dislike B.O. personally except for his inclination to lie and put himself above everyone else. His policies are a different thing.

  47. Gee, the Washington Post poll! Oh yeah, the one they do with their office staff. Top notch stuff, keep up the good work.

A Brilliant Progressive Diatribe Aimed At Obama

President Barack Obama has arrived, in just one year, at the very place no politician ever wants to be: the object of satire and scorn heaped on him by his very own supporters. David Michael Green, a professor of Political Science at Hofstra, has written a withering piece about the President and his political party.

Dr. Green’s progressive political beliefs are somewhere to the Left of George McGovern, a point which will become clear when you read his article. No one can tear the hide off of a progressive as well as one of their own. Here is a teaser:

    http://wizbangblog.com/content/2010/01/24/a-brilliant-progressive-diatribe-aimed-at-obama.php

  49. There is no bottom to the Obama administrations pit of self-delusion.

  50. Gibbs’ double-talk makes my head hurt!

  51. Are Gibbs and Obama stark raving mad or they think the voters are?

  52. Old One-#41

That was my quote from a previous post on GP!! Thank you!

And I like your idea, let’s just fill in the blanks with just about anyone from his administration and IT WORKS!

  53. Okay, I read the WA Post breakdown of the poll. Apparently, Gibbs never read the article nor the poll. Both are opposite of Gibbs’ contention that it supports B.O.’s agenda.

  54. Keep going with it, Baghdad Bob. This is just awesome!

  55. Geeze, even in the Midwest me thinks we can smell the BS from here. Dude, wash your hair man. A man in the spotlight should be much better groomed.

  56. The thing that most amazes me about these people is this.

During the campaign, Barack Obama PROMISED no less than 8 times that the Healthcare Negotiations would be held in public and broadcast on c-span.

He lied. When asked about this lie, Gibbs refused to answer. He gave a non answer and then when asked about it again, he told the reporter to refer to his previous non-answer.

    The arrogance.

And now they think that after lying to our faces, we will believe EVERYTHING Obama tells us now? Do they seriously think we are idiots?

  57. I, and many others, have seen a great deal of change in the economy and how we are perceived abroad in the last year. And let’s remember that being president is not an easy job and no matter your political persuasion, the office deserves our utmost respect and especially our deference to his decisions given that we can’t all be privy to volume of information the president deals with every day.

  58. He’s living on what planet?

  59. Talk about being in denial. If more people voted to support Obama then Coakley would have won. It’s that simple people, move on. More spinning the facts and coming up with nothing but being dizzy.

Can’t they dig up one competent person that is willing to be in the Obama administration? Just one!

  60. The Obama Administration has mastered what George Orwell called Newspeak. These Leftist Totalitarians are using it to a tee in order to try and dominate society by disallowing any alternative view to the facts to exist. Obama and Gibbs would have us believe the absurd proposition that both Obama and Brown were elected under the same pretenses, or that a vote for Brown is an affirmation of Obama’s radical agenda. The Democrats want to control every aspect of our lives and controlling the narrative is just the beginning.

  61. Seriously,
What color is the sky on the planet Gibbsy comes from?

  62. Is it just me or was Gibble’s hand motions in the Wallace interview a huge distraction? Or was the whole point?

Every letter was, verbatim, like the comment above, stating that being president is really difficult, and we should cut Obambi slack because, after all it was Bush’s bla bla, bla bla…

Which brings up a point…where are all the trolls??

  65. Denial is no longer just a river in Egypt.

  66. These people are clueless I hope no one gives them one before they are unemployed!

  67. Here’s what Gibbs is crowing about:

“About 63 percent of Massachusetts voters in Tuesday’s election said the country is seriously off track, and Brown won two-thirds of those voters, according to the poll by The Washington Post, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and Harvard University’s School of Public Health.

“In contrast, Barack Obama had solid support from the more than 80 percent of Massachusetts voters in the presidential election who viewed the country as off-course in November 2008.”

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/23/AR2010012301257.html

63% thought the country was on the wrong track last week and two-thirds of them voted for Brown.

In November of 2008, 80% of the people in Massachusetts thought the country was off course and voted for Barack.

Okay, Mr. Gibbs, I have a question. What has happened between November 2008, and January 2010 to change public opinion?

  68. Ellie Light
    January 24th, 2010 | 1:32 pm | #59

“And let’s remember that being president is not an easy job ”

Well, duh! It would have to be the hardest job in the world to have the responsibility of the American people on your shoulders. Did you see the look on George Bush’s face after the 9/11 attacks?

The hardest thing I have ever done is raise children from infancy to being out on their own. It was a HUGE responsibility. No way I would want to be responsible for every person in the US.

IMHO, you have to be crazy to even think about wanting to have so much responsibility on your shoulders. But if you want it, and then get it, then you own it, and do the best you can, but don’t blame everybody else for it!

  69. Has anyone found the “exit poll” Gibbs is talking about? From what I read on the Washington Post web site, they didn’t have time to prepare for a voting day exit poll, because they didn’t forsee any problems with Coakley winning, and exit polls take a lot of time to plan. Did he just flat out lie to Chris Wallace?

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/19/AR2010011903070.html

  70. Strangely enough, pathological narcissists actually believe their own lies and can often pass a lie-detector test. Seems like there are a lot of them in power in the U.S.

  71. Okay…I just listened to it again. He said “exit poll” at first, but it wasn’t an exit poll – it was a poll of voters. I cannot find out anything about this poll – how many were polled, were they registered as a R or D or I, or exactly what questions were asked.

  72. Heh,
I guess I should have read the next story. I suspect everyone is thinking my grasp of the obvious is firm. Oh well… BTW, you’d think if “Ellie” was clever enough to fabricate or borrow an address, she would be clever enough to create an alias??

  73. Can you promise me, with no qualifications, that obama and company are not on some kind of psychedelic drug?

  74. Here’s what bugs me about this…

Obama ran for president and won, and he interprets THAT election as a mandate for his and the Democrats’ radical policies (which he never really explained during the election anyway). Even the media admits he won because of anti-Bush anti-Republican sentiment.

But when Scott Brown runs for Senate on the platform of killing Obamacare and he wins, Obama/Gibbs/etc interpret that to mean that people support Obama.

So when Obama wins an election, it means the people support him (even though they were more interested in kicking out those currently in power), and when Obama loses and election (vicariously through Coakley) it means the people support him (even though they voted for the guy who totally opposed Obama’s policies).

Obama likes to have his cake and eat it too.

The poll purports to tell us that 35% of BROWN voters were ACTUALLY voting for Obamacare and the rest of his agenda.
When you combine that 35% of 52% (18%) with the 47% for Coackley, VOILA! 65% of Massachusetts voters SUPPORT OBAMACARE..

  93. #85 Sojourner [quoting Free Republic]:

“The poll purports to tell us that 35% of BROWN voters were ACTUALLY voting for Obamacare and the rest of his agenda.”

Huh??? The poll doesn’t say any such thing! Here’s what it actually says:

In response to question 9 of the poll, only 4% of Brown voters said their vote was “to express support for Obama.” A full 43% of Brown voters said their vote was “to express opposition to Obama.” 52% of Brown voters said Obama “was not a factor” in their vote for Brown.

In response to question 9a of the poll, only 5% of Brown voters said their vote was “to express support for the Democratic agenda in Washington.” A full 65% of Brown voters said their vote was “to express opposition to the Democratic agenda in Washington.” The rest of Brown voters — 29% — said the Democratic agenda “was not a factor” in their vote for Brown.

In response to question 10 of the poll, only 24% of Brown voters said they were personally satisfied with the Obama administration policies. A full 75% of Brown voters said they were personally dissatisfied with those policies.

Finally, in response to question 18 of the poll — the ONLY poll question specifically asking Brown and Coakley voters their positions on the Democrats’ proposed changes to the health care system — only 13% of Brown voters said they support the Democrats’ proposed health care changes. A whopping 80% of Brown voters said they oppose the Democrats’ proposed health care changes.

So the bottom line is: Anyone who claims the Washington Post-Kaiser-Harvard poll shows that 35% of Brown voters “were actually voting for Obamacare and the rest of his agenda” is either lying, illiterate, or both.

In Robert “Baghdad Bob” Gibbs’ case, I’d have to guess both.

  94. #101-GREAT POST!

  97. Do you think [the press will] address the false and misleading information put forth by Gibbs?

Yes, absolutely! Just as soon as they report that the 2007 NIE on Iran was a lie told to make it politically impossible for Bush to pursue sanctions against Iran; that the 2007 IPCC global warming report and “cap ‘n’ trade” are based on fraudulent data; that Obama’s post-inauguration announcement that he was forming a high-value detainee interrogation group outside the CIA was a lie; that those who condemned last week’s Supreme Court decision upholding corporate free speech — including Obama and the New York Times — are idiots who think the First Amendment shouldn’t protect corporate publishers such as the New York Times; etc., etc.! Yes, just as soon as they cover those issues!

Having checked your analysis (#101) & the stats again from data at:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/polls/WaPoKaiserHarvard_MassPoll_Jan22.pdf

Gibbs lies, no shock here.. let’s see who takes on the mathematical flaws.

  101. Baghdad Bob Gibbs’ reasoning resembles that of a ship’s officer in the Titanic crew whom a survivor remembered saying “Iceberg? What iceberg? I didn’t see an iceberg!”

    http://www.aclj.org/TrialNotebook/Read.aspx?ID=905

  104. Funny, Gibbs needs a “test” to determine if something is the truth. I guess that, for him, the test is “Did Glorious Leader say it? If so, then it’s the truth. At least for this moment.”

I think that no test is necessary. If anyone from the White House said it, then you can bet your bottom dollar that it’s not just a lie, it’s a lie of glorious proportions

  105. thought Robert Gibbs and the WH said they did not pay attention to polls. Which is it? This is such amateur hour stuff that it puts us all in danger.
