Is he The One?

Massachusetts State Sen. Scott Brown, R-Wrentham, celebrates in Boston, Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, after winning a special election held to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the death of Sen. Edward Kennedy. Brown defeated Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley, a Democrat, and Joseph L. Kennedy, a Libertarian running as an independent and not related to the late Sen. Kennedy.

Conservative Scott Brown tops Barack Obama among independent voters in the latest presidential poll.
The Boston Herald reported, via Free Republic:
If Scott Brown has kept President Obama up at night, there could be more sleepless nights at the White House thanks to a new poll that ranks the senator-elect as presidential timber.
A Newsmax/Zogby poll shows the Massachusetts Republican within striking range of Obama in a hypothetical presidential matchup.
The poll shows the pair statistically deadlocked if the presidential election were held today.
The online news site, newsmax.com, reported that Obama leads Brown by 46.5 percent to 44.6 percent among the 4,163 respondents in a poll with a plus or minus 1.5 percent margin of error. Independent voters, who helped propel Obama into office in 2008, favor Brown 48.6 percent to 36 percent.

Interesting, but the election of 2008 should be a great lesson that we should find hope in the American spirit BEFORE we find hope in a candidate. Let’s see how he does in the Senate first.
Gringo commented:
Remember what happened the last time we elected a first term US Senator who had previously been in a state legislature?

l A Palin Brown combination (I do not care who is at the top of the ticket) is a surefire winner If Obama and the SIEU, ACORN haven’t ended elections.

To put Scott Brown in any presidential race is a bit premature. To pit him against Obama is naive. Get real!

I’m surprised BO got as many votes as he did. Isn’t almost anyone — anything — preferable over the present disaster?
Only BO’s friends and associates could possibly be worse as POTUS.
But yes, there are likely many others I’ll prefer over Scott Brown in 2012.
helen commented:
Not that I think that Senator Brown will be ready in two years, but there is a big difference. I am sure we will know everything about Brown. His GPA from kindergarten to Law school, how he paid for his education, if he ever had a flu, who are his law clients and partners, his schedule as a State Senator, his voting record, every word ha ever said publicly and probably even privately, etc. Leave alone that even now he has more achievements than Obama and he can talk without teleprompter.
Opus #6 commented:
Scott Brown’s rallies beat Obama’s in Mass, hands down.
Spider-Man commented:
helen, Bingo! We will know more about Scott Brown than we know about our own family members.
The only person vetted more thoroughly, will be Sarah Palin.
The POTUS? Not so much.
Doesn’t the MSM see the rank hypocrisy of this?

This post made me feel so good. I am so fed up with Obama, who openly lies and who seems to feel that his mission is to destroy this country. He reminds me of the relative you have to invite to every family dinner even though he ends up behaving like a fool and iritating everyone.
When I look at Scott Brown I see someone authentic — who loves this country. No wonder so many Americans would like to see him as President. He makes us feel good.
sandy commented:
helen — I think Obama knows that Scott Brown will be the most popular Republican out there. So he and his left wing media will do their best to destroy him.
sandy commented:
Gringo — At least with Scott Brown, we know where he was born and who his friends are. Brown didn’t drop from the sky and he isn’t a self-professed Messiah.
Works for me.

Whoa!! Hold on just a minute!
The guy hasn’t even been sworn in as U.S. Senator (Why is that, Reid? Reid??) and now some want to put him in a match against The One?
Don’t you all think this is a little bit… premature?
AuntieMadder commented:
Obamao made 52% of the electorate feel good, too, Sandy. Don’t vote with your emotions. It may turn out disastrously.
There’s not much of anything – human or animal – that wouldn’t top Obamao in a run for prez today. I’d not hesitate to run a Golden Retriever against him. They’re very loyal dogs, ya’ know.
Solaratov commented:
Nah. Brown’s too inexperienced.
He needs another 140 days before he’s got the time in that d’ohbama had when he ran.
Valerie commented:
I’m glad they like the guy. It’s a start.
Be Serious commented:
Scott Brown himself said that the question of his running for president in 2008 is “silly”. True.
That said, the fact that Americans (Mass. Americans especially) see a savior in Brown is not silly – it’s telling.
The election in Mass was not Brown vs Coakley, it was Brown vs Obama… and Brown won.

OT: Oregon voters OK’d a tax hike for citizens making $250K and more and corporations. Nike founder was leading the campaign against the measure. I wonder how many businesses will pull business out of OR. WA State doesn’t have income tax so I am sure that they will be glad to house Nike. Microsoft, Costco, Amazon, etc., seem to enjoy doing business here.
Ronald Williams commented:
I think if the election were held today, any sincere conservative could beat him in an election. I think many in our blogger communities could poll higher than his highness.
sandy commented:
auntie madder — I’m sure you’re right. Today I heard that the Dems want to divide Republicans in order to win in 2010. They also want to run 3rd party candidates in order to confuse the electorate away from voting Republican. This mob seems to spend more time thinking up ways to con the voters rather than listening to what the voters really want.
We really need a Republican Congress in November because the arrogance of power has really gotten to these people.
ogee commented:
Scott Brown won. So if he could win in MA he can win ANYWHERE. Everyone knows it but will they acknowledge it? Brown can win anywhere. Think about it. That means no mo bama. Brown 2012. Relieve us of this spineless tyrant. Babies are tyrants. They get you to do their bidding. obama aka steve dunham is a big baby.
Jeff commented:
Brown should finish Kennedy’s term and make good on his promise to be an independent, conservative voice in the Senate.
Then, he should run for a second term, win big again, emerge as a leader on issues important to his base, and finish his term.
THEN, if he has done all of that successfully, he can run for President and (in my eyes) have the credibility and track record to be successful.
Remember: Brown is not entirely a pro-life candidate. I like him, as a person, and as a Massachusetts resident I was able to vote for him proudly and in good conscience. I do appreciate his opposition to widespread abortion access. However, there is room for improvement.
EMILY commented:
I THINK BROWN HAS ALL THE RIGHT VIEWS AND INTENTIONS, BUT TIME WILL TELL. I PERSONALLY LIKE NEWT GRINGRICH’S VIEWS AND THINK HE WOULD BE A EXCELLENT PRESIDENT, BUT HE HAS NO INTENTIONS OF RUNNING.
