New Hampshire Watchdog and WNTK interviewed Newt Gingrich while he visited New Hampshire on Saturday. During the interview they asked him about the NY23 race where he backed far left liberal Dede Scozzafava.

(MANCHESTER, NH) Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says that he was wrong to endorse Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava in last November’s special election in New York’s 23rd District. Three days before the nationally-watched election, Scozzafava dropped out to endorse Democrat candidate Bill Owens, who narrowly defeated conservative challenger Gary Hoffman. Gingrich took heat from Tea Party organizers and conservative pundits who charged that he was abandoning conservative principles for a “Republican In Name Only.”

“They were right,” Gingrich declared in an interview with New Hampshire Watchdog and WNTK Radio. This is the first time Gingrich has said his endorsement was a mistake.

“In retrospect it was a mistake.”

  1. Newt is a communist just like Rush, they both love Obama and never bring up the “birth certificate” issue, Rush goes as far as hanging up on his callers who even mention it.
It’s odd Rush was in Hawaii “vacationing” while Obama was there, coincidence or conspiracy?

Newt is who we thought he was, if you want to crown his a$$ go ahead, but he is who we thought he was and we left him off the hook.

Everyone overlooks the fact the Newt said it was a mistake. He didn’t say he was apologizing for his insolence. Many people will accept his heartwarming “mistake” and forgive him.

  2. Well, it’s refreshing to have a politician admit that he was wrong and I’ll give him credit for that, but endorsing her was so wrong that, for me (added with his views on global warming), his judgement is questionable at best.

  3. Sorry, Newt. It’s way too late to be noticing it was a mistake. And a little too convenient, if you know what I mean. Ya did say you’re in New Hampshire…?

We’re looking for people who have better judgment. The first time around.

    Stay on the sidelines, buddy.

  5. Come on home Newt. We’ll take you back. You broke our heart but we have some fond memories of you. Dump that harlot Nancy and throw out that stupid couch and show us a little bit of the old Newtster that we used to love.
Come to your senses big fella’ and we might forget about all the ugliness.
Don’t ever reach across that putrid backstabbing aisle again.
    It’s a wasteland. What were you thinking…?

  6. A big man admits when he is wrong.

    Obama will never do that.

  7. What are these issues that supposedly make Scott Brown a RINO? I realize he may have voted for some things at the state level that we would not want at the federal level, but that’s ok. As long as he respects the 10th amendment.

These smart people like Newt always mention Scott Brown wouldn’t hold up to our conservative expectations, but never talk specifically about which issues those are.

Some of these programs we hate I think are acceptable at the state & local level, if the people in that state want them and can pay for them. It’s when they try to shove it down all of our throats I have issues.

  8. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100128/ap_on_re_us/us_kennedy_successor “Brown tells AP he’ll sometimes side with Democrats”
Brown expects to be sworn in on Feb. 11, after all absentee ballots are counted and Massachusetts has certified the special election results. Until then, he is trying to function amid a whirlwind. ((For Jim @ # 7 & others))

  9. OT big Time but from FreeRepublic found this http://www.afriquejet.com/news/africa-news/cia-chief-visits-kenya-over-terrorism-2010012642843.html Raila Odinga! If I were running for Office …I would hit Obama up with Everything. I mean everything. With bg as a ‘consultant’ if I were running for the Senate or Congress. A lot is out there that the General Public Does NOT know. NewZeal Blog and CommieBlaster has lots of documents. I would tie BO to everything I could. Play “”hard ball”"

jonyjoe101, ya gotta put down that crack pipe for a minute. M

  11. Still have a hard time believing anything the Republicans say…can’t help but remember they promised a conservative new deal in 1994…they were to abolish the executive wash room when they got to Washington, all they did was change the lock on the door.

  12. Newts’ plea for absolution from conservatives is too late.

  13. The GOP has set new Guidelines for Candidates excluding those like DeDee Scozafava. I will NEVER – Ever Vote for a DEM!

  14. Gingrich’s opinion of himself is simply way too high.

  15. Newt changed his mind after the fact! The fact being is Newt is just as guilty as any other politician…….the ends justify the means! Newt’s days should be over!

  16. Newt lost me when he failed to actually debate Kerry about global warming and conceded the issue.

Newt did the same thing with Scozzafava. He conceded the issue. Newt has some good ideas, but I would not vote for him.

  17. Newt used to be a pretty smart fellow, but whatever he was smoking when he endorsed Scozzafava ought to be illegal!

  18. This removes all doubt that Newt is running for POTUS. My God, these primaries are excruciating.

Newt is certainly smart but I can’t fully trust him.
It looks like he is, at heart, a statist .

  19. FRANCO! I pray Newt does NOT run for POTUS! Find someone better…plez!!

  24. Newt has a vision problem.

  25. I got a recorded call from Newt to represent my area as a small business owner. He wanted me to contribute with $500 to then go (at my own expense) to meetings in DC to discuss problems faced by small businesses and how to help small business owners. My answer was, if you don’t know by now you will never figure it out and that $500 can be used by me for things that are more important, like my business. These people are so out of it!

  26. Newt violated the rule- Don’t sleep with dogs or you get up with fleas.

    http://truthandcommonsense.com/2010/01/31/newt-owns-up-but-is-still-full-of-fleas/

I’ve felt this way about Newt for a long time and his couch love-in with Nancy sealed it for me. He is trying to stay relevant so he can make money. As I said in my post-

“So how does a middle of the roader get time over Mike Pence or someone like him? Good question and one that we should answer before we let ol’ flea bitten Newt back on the porch.”

He’s a smart man holding yesterday’s newspaper as a reference. As we say, “that train has left the station, brother.”

This time around it will be your website, Redstate, maybe Hotair, and many others that will turn this tide. Not to mention Beck, Limbaugh and the whole radio market.

  27. Didn’t Newt also do a nationally televised ad with Al Sharpton talking about how we should work with Democrats to pass climate change leigislation? Either this guy is moving way to the left, or he has no principals at all…

  28. I think the only person who listens to Newt is Hannity and lately I find myself turning his show off more than I watch it. I’ve heard Morris and Beckel enough. The show is stale. Sorry for getting off topic.

Dangit, bg. And I was just about to give him a pat on the back for admitting he was wrong and then you point out that he did no such thing. They sure are silver tounged devils, those politicians.

  30. Yes, it takes a big man to admit he was wrong, and I can understand why he wanted to back the Republican party candidate, but it is best to look under the skirt to see if the Republican candidate is really a jackass before endorsing them.

  31. This lizard is such a RINO I can’t stand him!!! When will people wake up and quit their allegiance to all political parties and become American’s first — put all these career/professional politicians out of WORK!!!

  32. just for the record, it was Doug Hoffman, not Gary, that was Narrowly defeated in NY–and without the SEIU/Acorn thuggery, would have won. Geesh
