Milblogger and author Michael Yon was handcuffed today at the Seattle airport for not telling the TSA agent his net income.
He posted this on his facebook page:
Got arrested at the Seattle airport for refusing to say how much money I make. (The uniformed ones say I was not “arrested”, but they definitely handcuffed me.) Their videos and audios should show that I was polite, but simply refused questions that had nothing to do with national security. Port authority police eve…ntually came — they were professionals — and rescued me from the border bullies.
And, here’s his follow-up post:
When they handcuffed me, I said that no country has ever treated me so badly. Not China. Not Vietnam. Not Afghanistan. Definitely not Singapore or India or Nepal or Germany, not Brunei, not Indonesia, or Malaysia, or Kuwait or Qatar or United Arab Emirates. No county has treated me with the disrespect can that can be expected from our border bullies.

So they will cuff a natural born citizen for not revealing a private matter to begin with, and a no income “undocumented worker” gets …?

Welcome to Seattle, unfortunately!

And only one person thinks it’s shocking enough to comment on–Unbelievable, first for the incident happening and second for how little it seems to matter to others in America.

What does his income have to do with National Security? Don’t profile the real terrorist but treat US citizens as criminals. They must have been following Nappy’s right wing terrorist profile.

Unionization of TSA employees will eliminate such thuggish behavior. Wasn’t that what Janet Incompetano wanted after the UndieBomber attack was recently thwarted?

P. Aaron commented:
The TSA wanted to know what Michael Yon earned so they could flash the message to their buddies at baggage check so they could steal stuff out of Yon’s luggage.
Pat the First commented:
I recently talked with someone who had some jewelry stolen from her suitcase. I asked her if she reported it to the airline. She said she doubted that anything would happen considering how many people probably rummaged through her suitcase.
Here is a lesson. If it is something you want to keep, don’t put it in your suitcase. Best to just leave it home.
Pat the First commented:
I am trying to remember if I have ever been asked how much money I make when I re-entered the US. I don’t think I ever have.
Just_Saying commented:
I know the Seattle TSA was our of control when I was flying home to Alaska a few years back. Finally had to ask for a supervisor, who cleared things up and assured me something would be done about the unreasonable TSA agent…

down with dems commented:
Even had he chosen to answer, there’s no way the TSA could have ever verified whether his answer was true or not…. all the more reason not to answer it. I guess since Obama insists that our attackers are solely motivated by their poverty, only people who give a low number are terrorist threats.
myna commented:
We are spending billions of dollars screening wrong people. I noticed at the airport, 3 old women squat and their luggages scrutinized because their titanium hips sent alarm bells. We are in a very sad state of affairs.

Michael Yon is a true American hero. His Sea-Tac airport arrest is beyond outrageous.
Obama would be well advised to invite Yon to the WH for a beer and to learn from Yon what is really occurring in the Middle East from the viewpoint of the common soldier. Wishful thinking for sure!
Sadly, Yon’s arrest is simply another example of the Peter Principal (promoting employees to one or more levels above the competence to perform). Every day it becomes more apparent the Federal government, except for our armed forces, is too large to succeed. Our government is hopelessly unmanageable.
Richard6218 commented:
Plenty has already been said about the TSA gorillas so I won’t add to that. What has been missed is Mr. Yon’s courage in refusing to knuckle under in the face of their demands. The message from this is that we all should defy these outrageous and unlawful intrusions into our privacy whenever and wherever they happen.
Fuzzy commented:
To BO, he IS a terrorist; BO thinks anyone who speaks out against him and his traitorous horde are “extremists.” We know this. What does his income have to do with anything? Absolutely nothing. So now they can restrain American citizens/taxpayers/patriots for not answering a question that nothing to do with national security? This is an absolute outrage!
These people have got to go . . . PLEASE help us elect Scott Brown in Mass. That would have a huge impact even on these deaf, dumb, and blind buttholes in Washington.

The TSA at SeaTac is the most heavy-handed and clueless of the TSA locations in my experience as an air traveler. There’s been a series of investigations, incidents and resets with the TSA at SeaTac since it was created.
Anyone else remember that part of the rhetoric around the TSA was it *absolutely wouldn’t become a part of domestic “law enforcement?”*
Stan25 commented:
Now the idiots want to unionize? Not in my lifetime, if I can help it. This would be tantamount to giving the idiots, the keys to the vault at Fort Knox. This country would be a lot better off if the unconstitutional labor movement was totally outlawed. These are the breeding grounds for Marxism and crime.
Ted commented:
In all of my world travels (though not nearly as extensive as our friend here) the worst treatments I have ever received were from US authorities.
befuddled commented:
unbelievable, patriots have become terrorists under obama’s watch. how does revealing annual income related to terrorism? when you handcuff someone and put them away in a locked room thats kidnapping, and the tsa knows it doesn’t have arrest authority. its so criminal how perverse a bunch of idiots with a little authority can get. these are the same people making 5 dollars an hour because they couldn’t get any other job before the government came to their rescue. and now, our freedoms have literally been squandered. the only way is to actually go back to a 9/10 screening process. I am fed up with airport travel. there is absolutely no way anyone that is suicidal can be prevented from killing themselves, so all this security window dressing to make soccer moms feel safe about flying is absurd. the flying public and the crew are the only ones able to prevent a suicide bomber or a plane hijacker—period.
maverick muse commented:
Michael Yon is indeed an outstanding American performing the nearly extinct JOURNALISM in the most dangerous places, in the most professional manner respecting laws and customs.
Seattle Border Bullies are cowardly Marxist thugs–unwilling to perform their duties appropriately to protect our nation from terrorists as they lack the required true grit on their own part to confront the danger of evil. So they bully, handcuff and threaten the “easy pickings” returning respectable American citizens with impeccable manners and visa/passport travel documentation.
Mark Steyn pointed out accurately that what we witnessed today in travel with government employees corrupting their authority to abuse citizens rather than face the dangers of cuffing people on the no-fly-list is the same shabby character flaws we’ll experience when seeking or not seeking health care from Big Brother Marx and his Nanny State.

myna, nice guess on the titanium hip. Titanium is a non ferrous non magnetic metal. probably the cheap metal they put in underwire bras (not being funny).
I have worked around 3 tesla MRI’s and have titanium tools. (you can get them through security check points easily). Just wait untill Achmed the terrorist finds out.
Bobbie commented:
If the TSA screeners were trained to ask that question (versus just some local idiot making that decision), we all should be very worried.
“How much do you make, Ok, you need to pay a special entrance fee” (to help pay for NOBamaCare).

Can’t wait to see what they will do to me when I respond to Census questions. Name, address, number of occupants ONLY will be answered at my household.
Wonder how that’s going to go over?
jonyjoe101 commented:
First of all why did they handcuff him? There no judge or jury in American that will convict him of any crime for refusing to answer that type of question.
A secret military court might convict him, But I doubt it, it doesn’t seem like the secret courts are having much progress with convicting real terrorists.
Just a power trip from the low IQ TSA.
Pat the First commented:
A secret military court might convict him,
There are no “secret” military courts. They are all public record. Just evidence that is national security issue is not made public. The same is in city, county, state, and federal courts.
Old One commented:
My wife when returning from overseas was asked by the immigration goons who paid for her trip? The kind of stupidity inflicted on Michael Yon by the TSA morons is not being taken from a new play book. Gov’t bureauweenie apparatchiks in mass seem to suffer from retardation, cretinism, and idiocy exacerbated by their arrogance. Keep in mind these are the people that want all power over us through socialized medicine. May God deliver US.
Scott commented:
Michael, you should have been wearing a turban…I got the same treatment crossing from Victoria BC to Friday Harbor Washington. I have a retired military ID card but was shuttered aside while the idiots let the rest of the ferry disembark…I was eventually let go after the tools figured that I had been sufficiently humiliated…
Mike B commented:
I travel internationally and agree that I have been treated far worse here in the US than I have in any other country. I get pulled for secondary screening everytime I come back to the country because some guy on their idiot list has my name. He is a 5’8″, 180 lb black man. I am a 6’2″ 285lb white guy. It is my observation that the TSA wonks are mostly SpecOps wanna-be’s that aren’t smart enough tell the difference between a turd and a diamond. If stupidity were painful, they’d all be dead.
Keep up the good work Michael. You’re a real hero.

I’m in the Army and recently have done most of my travel for them in uniform, I and many of my buddies have been pulled aside and given pat-downs. Why? We’re in uniform traveling under orders and have legit Military IDs. Are TSA Agents so envious they have to pick on the troops?!
Jenney commented:
This is insane. Right after 9/11 we lived overseas and traveled quite a bit, I noticed that Reagan and Dulles aiports had more Muslims working there than before 9/11. I also found it offensive that the baggers that work for tips will gecome upset if they don’t think they are getting a big enough tip. Believe me, I was tipping more than fair. You’d think that these people would waste less time on people with Mil. IDs and concentrate on those most likely to commint a terrorist act, but I guess that would be called profiling and the PC BS won’t allow it. I think Americans are profiled in socialists Countries and don’t make up any excuses for it.
