My Iowa Hawkeyes just scored the game winning touchdown with 2 minutes to go giving the Hawkeyes a 24 to 14 lead over Georgia Tech.

UPDATE: Iowa Quarterback Rick Stanzi after the game told the crowd this about America, “Love it or leave it. We have the greatest country in the world.”
Awesome.

Flyover America (especially Iowa) is awesome. Real people who have a greater comprehension of the Real we face.
Go Hawks!

I’m a Purdue grad, but I was rooting for all the Big Ten teams in the bowls. Was VERY happy to see Iowa win tonight!
All the top teams in the Big Ten won their games: Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Iowa.
Way to go, Big Ten!
And way to go, Rick Stanzi, coming back from an injury which cost the Hawkeyes a possible undefeated season and Big Ten title, and leading his team to victory over a very good Georgia Tech team. And REALLY like the patriotism too!
Great bowl season for the Big Ten!
stl commented:
Awesome, indeed. The MVP, Adrian Clayborn, is a St Louis kid, so that makes it even more fun!
Tammy commented:
Go Iowa!
Now vote those Dems out of office and you’ll be TRUE winners

I’m a Buckeye fan but I was rooting for the Hawkeyes all the way. And Stanzi’s comments at the end were pure icing on the cake. CONGRATS Hawkeyes!

I am a PAC 10 fan (they blew it) but I was rooting for Iowa. I was AMAZED at their poise and obvious discipline, and especially how clean cut and tatoo free the players are. Definitely a cut above the thuggish look other teams have.
MJBrutus commented:
From a GT alumnus, congratulations. Iowa’s D was awesome.
BackwardsBoy commented:
Although I was pulling for GT, Iowa did good. And the “Love it or leave it” quote is proof that Stanzi was raised properly.
If my Crimson Tide can win the national championship, my year will be complete.
Roll Tide!
Just A Grunt commented:
Yes my beloved Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets looked more like a Wreck Ramblin last night then they did a football team. The first half they were non existant and the fact that Iowa only put up 14 points I think surprised GT coach Paul Johnson more then anybody.
Tech came out after halftime and breathed life into the faithful. Here was the Tech team we knew, but alas they got within the point spread and had to give Iowa the ball not once but twice within the shadow of the goal line before the Hawkeyes were able to finally put the game away.
For us Tech faithful it will be another 8 months of talking about what could have been, but then the new college football season will begin and hope springs eternal.
GrayRider commented:
Nice work Hawkeyes. As a graduate of The Ohio State University, I was rooting for ‘ya and did watch the game. Congratulations again, Hawkeyes…this Buckeye enjoyed your win. Go Big Ten!

GT did everything wrong to lose this game. Iowa played great though.
GT ran the same QB option play on second down on every series they had the ball I think. How many times did they throw the ball?
I stopped watching about halfway through the third qtr, Iowa was just to dominating and GT just kept doing the same old thing the whole game.
GT didn’t adjust to mush Iowa was doing. Iowa was coached very well in preperation for this game, it was obvious.
Good for Iowa! Congrats!

I am an Iowa grad, and I was so happy to see Stanzi back in action. Who knows what their record might have been if he had not been injured. I noticed that the whole team listening to him after the game smiled at his great patriotic comments.

I’m always proud to be a Hawkeye here in LA and last night was icing on the cake. Great team and great fans! Loved Stanzi’s comments about being proud to be American. That’s Midwest baby, where kids aren’t shy, scared or embarrassed to love the US.
In Heaven there is no beer…that’s why we drink it here…
Gosh, I really miss Iowa City right now!
