They wish he was never born.
Heartless progressive women’s groups don’t want Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow to speak. They don’t want him to tell his story. They wish he was never born.
The Women’s Media Center and over 30 other liberal and women’s advocacy groups sent a letter to CBS urging the channel not to air a Super Bowl ad about Tim Tebow’s birth. The Heisman Trophy winner and Focus on the Family will air an ad during the game on Tim’s story.
Tim Tebow was born on August 14, 1987 in the Philippines to Bob and Pam Tebow, who were serving as Christian missionaries at the time. While pregnant Pam suffered a life-threatening infection with a pathogenic amoeba. Because of the drugs used to rouse her from a coma and to treat her dysentery, the fetus experienced a severe placental abruption. Doctors expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion to protect her life. Pam carried Timothy to term, and both survived- via Wikipedia.
Now Tim Tebow wants to tell his story. He wants to air an ad at the Super Bowl. Earlier this week he responded to the attacks by progressives:
It’s not surprising that the progressives don’t want Tim to tell his wonderful story. They want his story hidden from the public. It disturbs progressives. It threatens them. It may persuade a woman to keep her baby.
Of course, this is not so surprising considering their past. Progressives have a history in genocidal movements and have a history of hiding this fact.
Founding Bloggers reported:
When the Progressive movement in this country gained steam in the early twentieth century, they spawned the genocidal Eugenic movement which directly led to the Holocaust. That’s not an exaggeration either. American Progressives worked DIRECTLY with the Nazis in their quest for race purity.
Progressives own the Holocaust, a fact they conveniently ignore today. Funny how they make a big stink about everyone else owning up to their history, but when it comes to them, they are exempt from their own rules.
And, of course, abortion was seen as one way for progressives to get rid of the undesirables.
Progressives don’t want you to know Tim Tebow’s story and they don’t want you to know their history. That’s part of their game.
These heartless progressives owe Tim Tebow and his mother an apology.

There’s a huge element of conscience and guilt in the “progressive” movement and this hatred of good. They know their behavior is not good – in fact it’s reprehensible and they know it but they want to be allowed to continue it without anyone reminding them how sick and disgusting they are. That’s why they want to destroy good. It’s a constant reminder of the fetid odor emanating from their souls…

He puts a name/face to a “proposed abortion”. The fact that he’s made great achievements makes him even more of a problem for the “choice” (irony-alert) crowd. The anonymity of the child (see constant references to “the fetus”) marginalizes the life in their opinion. Of course, that logic is built on sand, but that’s all they have.

This reveals what those of us that stand for the unborn have known for a long time. That the term “pro-choice” is really misleading, we should call the advocates of abortion on demand, “pro-abortion” and in an absolutist sense. The only “choice” they will tolerate is the one that ends in the death of the unborn baby. I also blog for a Crisis Pregnancy Center in Whittier, California and Liberals want to close them down so the only alternative to a woman facing a crisis pregnancy is to get an abortion.
Also, it is truly sad that adoption does not even enter into the pro-abortion absolutist vocabulary. And if it does, it must include adopting to homosexual couples, even making pro-life adoption agencies close down that do not adopt to such couples. Yes, Liberals and by extension most Democrats see abortion as inherently good and seek to demonize anyone who thinks otherwise. Remember the abortion ad that called abortion sacred work?
down with dems commented:
Getting upset at someone for explaining why they didn’t have an abortion is pretty scary… it’s like they’re mad that Tebow’s mom DIDN’T abort him.
What reason is there to take any personal responsibility for your actions or their consequences when you can either 1) abort it, or 2) draw welfare to take care of it. That earns the Dems quite a number of votes.
Joanne commented:
Pro-death women believe they should have the right to decide what is best for their life, but they fail to admit the fact that their decision to take the life of the child they carry means they have taken the right of the unborn to be given life. It is the most selfish and cruel act a woman can commit against another human being, and they want to shut up anyone else who points out that they are horrible, evil people.

A woman has the choice to have sex or not, and if she becomes pregnant her choice is to give birth and keep the baby or to give birth and put the baby up for adoption.
When women have sex they don’t have to take the necessary preventative precautions because in the back of their mind they know that if they do become pregnant, they can just abort their baby. How does this line of thinking help prevent pregnancies? It is before-and-after birth control.
JM commented:
The essense of pro-choice is supposed to be choice: in the Roe v. Wade era, most people choose to carry their pregnancy to term.
If you are in favor of choice, you must be in favor of people opting NOT to abort.
If you want a woman to make a fully informed decision, you must let her know that people who could have chosen to abort opted to continue their pregnancy.
Let Tebow speak.

It can’t be pro-”CHOICE” unless there are at least two options. If the pro-choice crowd is so violently opposed to Tebow’s story of life, then the pro-choice crowd should drop the charade and rename itself pro-abortion.
By calling themselves pro-choice they are acknowledging that there is an alternative to abortion that you can choose, but they only see one of those choices as “right”.
PRO-CHOICE:
You have the right to choose whether or not to abort. If you abort we’ll cheer you on, but if you choose life we won’t congratulate you on your choice to try to raise your baby, we’ll demean and denigrate you for not killing it.
If every woman aborted her baby, where would we be?
Eve commented:
But wouldn’t it have been so much better if Pam had died so we could have the wonderful heartwarming story of how she sacrificed her worthless no-longer-virgin woman’s life for her fetus? How much more CHRISTIAN would that be?
Call me pro-death and pro-murder and I’ll throw your woman hating viciousness right back in your faces. You men call women names like whore for doing what you all want women to do in the first place. You prim little Christian bitches call us murderers because you can’t imagine how a woman would choose to be anything else but a bible-thumping Donna Reed.
One of the worst things about having to fight the Jihad is having to associate with people who would enslave women just as fast as the Muslims if they only had the chance.
Sojourner commented:
Why is Matt and his family’s story of “Choosing Life” such a threat to these radical pro abortion groups? Power and cash. If more women choose life, they lose money and control. If fewer women choose abortion, they get fewer fetuses to kill. Their means (revenue) and their message (‘choosing life’ means ‘stopping abortion’ and ‘making women sick’) must be absolute or like any other despotic propaganda, it puts itself in peril… the Tebow’s story exposes these radical pro abortion groups for the shams they are. Like that hockey stick graph is to Climategate, the Tebow’s story is to abortion.. it debunks it as ‘settled science’ on the progressive’s road to Utopia and must be told.

No, you are called murderers because women such as yourself kill their own flesh and blood in their wombs in the name of pure selfishness. Why don’t you use contraception, two or more forms, and prevent pregnancies rather than use abortion as a birth control method after the fact? It doesn’t have anything to do with being Christian; it has to do with being a decent, loving human being who treats others like they would like themselves treated. I wouldn’t even be directing this comment at you if it wasn’t for the fact that your mother gave birth to you, so be grateful for those who choose to give life rather than take it away. And for your information many great and wonderful women who have made great accomplishments are also mothers; it isn’t a choice between one or the other – women can do both.

Being a pro-choice reader at a conservative blog hosted by a Catholic web site, I usually stay out of these discussions. This time, however, I wanted to speak up and also say that JM at #10 is right on the money. It is a choice and the voices of those who’ve made either of the choices are all valid. Temow’s mother made a choice to carry her pregnancy to term even though it risked her life and I’m glad that it turned out well for her and her son. Otoh, while this true story should be presented to women in similar situations so that they can make informed decisions, it should never be used to shame pregnant women in life-threatening situations who choose to abort, instead of choosing as Temow’s mother did. Those are very personal, very life altering decisions that can and should only be made by those who are in them.
That’s all.

How do the NOW types reconcile the excess of 22 million young males in abortion-promoting China with caring about women?
It is pretty clear that one of the unintended consequences of the War on the Unborn has been the targeting of females for the death sentence. It is clear that the advance in ultrasound technology is both a blessing and a new evil.
Many babies are brought to term once the mother sees life. Unfortunately, a number of people use the technology for evil. – basic screening to eliminate life that doesn’t fit their lifestyle.

The Women’s Media Center is looking for free publicity, instead of taking the initiative to do their own work.
If there is a competent lawyer anywhere in sight of those people, they know that they haven’t any excuse whatsoever to demand the right to stop another group from airing an ad. Further, the ad touches on a hot-button issue in the current American discussion about how we will run our country: as such it is a political statement, and not to be stifled simply because somebody else disagrees.
I am pro-choice, and I believe the Roe court served us very well by keeping the government out of the initial decision of whether to carry through with a pregnancy: the government is thereby limited to measures that preserve and protect the life of the mother and child.
The essence of the Roe decision is the consideration of the consequences of a grant of power to the government: the opinion rightly observes that such grants tend to be permanent, and once such a grant is made, there is no way to ensure that the power to make a decision will be used in a given way. This means that a grant of power to intervene in an initial decision of whether to abort a baby will lead to the power to compel abortions.
The outcome of the Roe decision is that any abortion decision is made on an individual basis, by the person most affected. There can be no eugenics programs, with Roe in the way.
The freedom to choose to have an abortion is a sad one, to be used with great reluctance. If somebody wants to tell a story about choosing life and how well it turned out, I’ll be glad to hear it.

It’s a given that every time someone is faced with a difficult pregnancy (including but not limited to potential medical problems like Mrs. Tebow’s, Down’s Syndrome, various deformities and disabilities, conception through rape) and chooses to have the child, the pro-aborts are ALWAYS disappointed. They attack the parents for making a foolish, risky, and unrealistic decision. They don’t care the if the child turns out okay after all (like Tim Tebow) or if the child is still valued and loved by his family (like Trig Palin). They made the wrong decision, dammit, and they have no business parading that decision in public!
They’re angry because they know full well what they would do if they were in the Tebows’ or Palins’ shoes. For all of their yammering about compassion, they’re not terribly compassionate toward those they deem “inferior.” They feel entitled to a perfect child who arrives perfectly on their time, if at all. People who make diffferent decisions and are happy about it make the pro-aborts feel guilty. Even if the pro-abort has not had anything to do with an abortion, there’s still guilt. And nothing drives a progressive crazier than the feeling of moral inferiority.
They want to keep selling the idea that every abortion happens for a really good reason and if not for the destruction of some bothersome “clump of cells,” the woman and her clump of cells were doomed to a life of perpetual pain and misery. Things like medical problems, rape, developmental defects, etc. give the pro-aborts a trump card, i.e. nobody would want to have a child like THAT and you’re evil for even forcing such a horror on an emotionally fragile woman. Well, the Tim Tebows of the world pop even that balloon. What justification do they have now?

I’d just like to say that when a pregnant woman’s life hangs in the balance, it is her decision to make between her life or the life of the unborn child. Some do not make the choice and leave it to God, and others make the choice – I don’t really know of anyone who would think a woman choosing her life should be condemned for doing so.

I’m thankful that one of the first big realizations of my adult life was about the psychological dynamic of “If you’re different, then I might be wrong.” It’s explained a lot of things to me, and I see it writ large in the conniption fit being pitched over a one-minute telling of Pam and Tim Tebow’s story during the Super Bowl.
How the professional “feminists” running around like a gaggle of hysterical ninnies over this commercial got to be professional anythings is beyond me. They’re acting as though the showing of this commercial will force them to make the same choices as did Pam Tebow (or Sarah Palin). All the rest of the time, they present themselves as brave, courageous “Question Authority” gals. But let some other woman make a different (and especially a more traditional) choice, and they panic.
Nobody’s pressuring them to make the same choices, just as nobody’s pressuring them to give up their jobs to stay home and bake cookies. (Of course, if they could get paid to stay home and bake cookies by My Husband the State, they’d pat themselves on the back for not having to “work for The Man.”)
Now, personally, I think Tim Tebow’s 2 Hebrews lampblack patches are just a bit over the top. They remind me of those Berkeley two-dozen bumper sticker-mobiles, in that expressing an identity through affiliation signals way. And I don’t know that I’d have it in me to make the choice Pam Tebow made.
Nonetheless, this story strikes me as a story of one woman’s courage and (dare I say it?) one woman making one huge, critical choice about what she wanted to do with her life, and following through with that choice against limiting conventional wisdom.
They used to call these stories feminist parables. But Pam Tebow’s choice is different, so the feminists might be wrong.
So, I’m looking forward to watching this commercial during this year’s Super Bowl (and to watching my Niners win next year’s!)
