For the First Time Ever… US Drops Out of "Free" Category in 2010 Index of Economic Freedom

For the first time ever the United State fell out of the “free” category in the 2010 Index of Economic Freedom.
Kim Holmes at the Heritage Foundation discusses this disturbing news:

For the first time ever, the U.S. has dropped out of the free category and fallen to mostly free in the 2010 Index of Economic Freedom. Of the world’s 20 largest economies, the U.S. has suffered the largest drop in economic freedom. It’s clear why our economy is failing to generate jobs. “Economic freedom improves the overall quality of life, promotes political and social prog- ress, and supports envi- ronmental protection.”

Now, why would this be? Could it be that ordinary human beings really are the people in the best position, with the best information and best access to action, to make economic decisions that affect their families?

I don’t want Barney Frank to have any input whatever in my family planning decisions; I refuse to take investment advice from Barack Obama; and, I don’t want either Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi deciding what medical treatments I can get, especially when it comes to plastic surgery.
