Crony Capitalism: Donate to Democratic Candidate- Win $100 Million in Stimulus Cash & Box Seats at SOTU

It’s Called Crony Capitalism.
Obama mentioned a company last night that actually had created jobs thanks to the (failed) democratic Stimulus bill.

“The plan that has made all of this possible, from the tax cuts to the jobs, is the Recovery Act. That’s right – the Recovery Act, also known as the stimulus bill. Economists on the left and the right say that this bill has helped save jobs and avert disaster. But you don’t have to take their word for it. Talk to the small business in Phoenix that will triple its work force because of the Recovery Act.”

Of course, like the bogus insurance fraud examples he shared at his last health care speech to Congress, there is more to this story, too.

The democrats gave $100 million to a company owned by prominent democratic donors who have created only 15 jobs so far with the stimulus money. And the company’s owner got to sit with Michelle Obama at the SOTU last night.

The great Tucson Tea Party protest leader Robert Mayer did some research on the company last night and this is what he found:

When I heard Obama praising the stimulus bill, when he told us to ask the small business in Phoenix that is tripling its work force, I thought I’d do a little research into who that company is.

Easy enough. It’s called Ecotality, based out of Scottsdale, and it was the lead receiver of a $100 million grant from the Department of Energy through the stimulus bill. (Ecotality, which used to be called Alchemy Enterpreises, has MANY subsidiaries, so much of this money is actually going to those subsidiaries rather than directly to Ecotality. One such example is Electric Transportation Engineering Corp., a division of Ecotality, which will be putting in electric vehicle infrastructure as far away as Oregon).

President Honors ECOtality/eTec in State of the Union Address

Total jobs added? According to them, 15 in 2009 and 27 in 2010. For $100 million. Am I supposed to cheer for that?

And it appears on the surface that there are political connections — of course, there always are! — to how Ecotality got this grant.

Its CEO, Jonathan Read, is a successful entrepreneur with wide-ranging political connections in Phoenix. He maxed out his political donations in 2006 to Harry Mitchel (D), who beat incumbent JD Hayworth (R) that year. Ecotality falls within Mitchell’s district.

Slade Mead is on the board of directors. He is a lawyer and former Republican state legislator turned Democrat who has given more than $17,000 to Democrats since 2005. He maxed out to Harry Mitchell’s 2006 campaign.

Further, Colin Read is the Vice President of Corporate Development. He was the Assistant Finance Director for Harry Mitchell’s successful 2006 bid for Congress.

They also metwith VP Biden not all that long ago.

I don’t have the time to research into this further than what I’ve found; such as, did Harry Mitchell earmark that money in the stimulus bill? Or is it all just a coincidence?

But the real take away from this? Obama points to this company as an example of the stimulus bill’s success; but it is really just another example of money being doled out to political allies to little effect. How much of that stimulus money do you think will end up going back as political contributions?

Great work, Robert!

Obummers Ideology is all that matters. Distroying capitolism along the way is just a bonus and exactly what he wants. Stand firm and do not waver. Times are going to get very bad, prepair for the worst and fight for the best. Powder is dry.

I long for the days when we could do what President Washington did. Pick up our weapons, and head for Washington, with our horse of course. God help this country, Barack Obama is mentally ill, it isn’t hard to see.

Sorry for the long post, an example of tactics of hte left. Bait and switch.

What I am about to share is a matter of “looky over here at the right hand (healthcare and climate change and the economy) while the left hand is taking advantage in another way.” This will require multitasking on our part. I say we are up to the task.

I believe I have posted once before on this topic but after a meeting with our Texas Representative Louie Gohmert on Tuesday night I was informed not to take our eyes off of this.

This was not a topic of his main speech, in fact I asked him at the end of the night if this was anythign to waste time worrying about because the libs have been trying to get it passed at least since the 90’s. Mr Gohmert could not believe anyone was even paying attention to it and was very excited that we could possibly do something about it. He said yes it’s time has come and the Dems have brought it back and this is how it will most likely go down: It will be added as an amendment to another bill that we want….and most likely the congressmen will not even read it (just like the Guantanamo was added to the Defence spending bill). It is probable that the Hawaii- Akaka Bill may not even get any debate and if it does it will play on emotions and possibly even some Republicans could vote for it without reading it.

This is a terrible bill it is not necessary and it will require we Americans to foot the bill for The Native Hawaiians while they will be exempt from our taxes and they will hold all mineral rights as their own country/government entity -they will no longer fall under osha or any other regulations…and be considered similar to Native American Indians.

Please read the bill. My representative told me that this was as important as anything else to contact our representatives about. It will most likely get snuck in in the middle of the night and he said that we will wake up one day and it will be done. There will be no media report on it. The only thing that will make a difference is for us to call our reps and insist that they do not allow this to be added to any bill. Insist they read any and all amendments and do not compromise just to get soemthing else they want.

The first link goes to the Senate Bill….it is 45 pages of which I read most of it.

This next link is one of several article on this. You can research it for yourself but the more you do the more frustrated you will get. There are so many things wrong with this nonsense I do not even know where to begin.

It’s Not Just the Obamas Going to Hawaii This December [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

For years (since 1999), Daniel Akaka has been trying to make the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act law. On Friday afternoon, the minority on the House Natural Resources Committee got word that there will be a mark-up on it on Wednesday. Apparently there’s an agreement on the bill, but Republicans on the committee haven’t seen it.

The Hill rumor is that Democrats plan to attach Akaka to the Department of Defense funding bill before this session ends — basically, sneaking it in at a busy, contentious time of year to avoid full debate.

Here’s how we editorialized about the Akaka bill in 2006:

The Akaka bill is a terrible piece of legislation. Every aspect of it—from its premises to its goals to its methods—undermines the American belief that we are one people from many. It would create a separate government for “native” Hawaiians, who would in all likelihood be determined almost exclusively by bloodlines. The new government would be able to conduct sovereign-to-sovereign relations with the United States, much as Indian tribes do today. Although no one knows what the final form of the government would be, presumably some 400,000 “natives” would be invited to weigh in—even a resident of New Hampshire who has never stepped foot in Hawaii and has but a trace of Hawaiian blood would get a say in forming the new government. The most pernicious outcome is perhaps the only one that is assured: The governing entity would lead to a permanent hereditary caste in Hawaii, where natives—defined however the interim government chooses to define them—enjoy at least some rights that non-natives do not. Tax-exempt status and immunity from Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations are two possibilities.

Akaka would be an unconstitutional, race-based mistake. It shouldn’t pass. And it really shouldn’t be snuck in as Christmas gift to Daniel Akaka.

And how many jobs has Wind Capital created for it’s $90 million in stimulus? Biden came here in April for a big ribbon cutting. I’ve only seen 3-5 jobs posted on their website.

The Akaka Hawaii Bill per via Hawii Free Press {Some Excerpts} One Question First….WHO pays for Hawaii’s National Defense?? And this is of Concern!! The Oath is for Barry to UPHOLD the Constituition of the “”USA”” and YET …as noted in the article….He Wants Hawaii to be Independent!! “”Abercrombie said he hopes the bill will move out of committee today, and then Hawai’i lawmakers can work collaboratively with Bennett, the Obama administration and others to possibly amend the bill when it reaches the House floor.

The congressman said “there is no greater friend” to the bill than Bennett and questioned why the attorney general was not given copies of the proposed changes until the past few days….

Jesse Broder Van Dyke, a spokesman for Akaka, said last night that the changes are being proposed after talks with the Obama administration, the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, and others.

Broder said Akaka planned to offer the changes when the bill comes before the Senate Indian Affairs Committee tomorrow. He said the Obama administration, in particular, believes it is important that Hawaiians be treated the same as other indigenous people.”

    Just “spreadin’ the wealth around”.

What could be wrong with that?

finally, some actual reporting. i just cant stand the msm, their credibility is shot and i cant see how they will regain it, knowing how much they propped up democrats and especially this fraudulent administration. this administration is beyond kickbacks and into the realm of criminality. someone needs to run on the platform of congressional hearings and prosecution.

anyhow good reporting. i think we need to start from the ground up with citizen journalists.

Just as an FYI, this multiple corporations model is one I’ve seen in the construction industry out here. A corporation is formed for a project. Then it is liquidated. If you need relief due to shoddy construction you suddenly discover there is nobody to sue.
