That shows how race-obsessed libs are. A relative of mine lived for several years with a black guy whose intellectual capabilities appeared to be far below hers. A nice guy, but not a lot upstairs. A cousin of hers asked her if she ever forgot that her live-in was black, and her reply was never. This was in SoHo in Manhattan, where they would have gotten minimum flack for being an interracial couple.
All’s well that ends well. The relative married someone else and has had a good life.

PS: Crissy, were you inferring that a black person’s speech would have normally been something less than what you heard? Did the President over-achieve “for a black man”?
Personally, I thought this was the President’s weakest speech to date. He was strained, appeared angry several times and certainly dug in his heels, politically. When he openly chastised the Supreme Court I just shook my head in disbelief. If the Chief Justice criticized the President in front of the world, Democrats would be screaming bloody murder. I strongly suspect we’ll hear a LOT more about that comment in the week’s ahead.
The usually smooth talking President didn’t bring his “A” game tonight…Not by a long shot.

You know, I never think about the color of Obama’s skin. I don’t care nearly as much as Matthews seems to.
And he seems to be thinking more about that then the content of the rest of his little speech, because I don’t recall Obama reaching out to Repub’s, nor do I recall his interest in tort reform beyond a ‘state lab’ when it’s been enacted successfully long before this – but then, it’s Matthews. If it weren’t for clips like this, I’d never know what he had to say. I don’t watch the man.

So if Matthews took deliberate reflection upon the fact he didn’t notice the color of someone’s skin, we must next ask him if during this time he liked Obama more or if he liked him less. I mean, if it was important for him to note something like that, it MUST have some bearing.
Skin color is something that he notices, but that doesn’t make him racist. Let’s hear a conservative say that and see what the response would be.

That’s what Chrissy’s words seem to imply.
This BS about being color-blind is just that: BS. Whenever any of us looks at another person we see their color, their sex, their sexual orientation (or their sexual orientation as they present it to others), their age (or somewhere thereabouts). Anyone who denies seeing these things is most likely a racist, sexist, homophobe and/or ageist who doesn’t understand that it’s not seeing those things that matter. The rest of us see those things when we look at others but we’re concerned, instead, with their words and actions.
A couple other things…
It’s not right to say that the Republicans didn’t cooperate with the Dems. They were shut out completely. When they say that the Reps didn’t cooperate, what they really mean is that the Reps didn’t submit to their will. The truth is that the Dems didn’t cooperate with the Reps. They seem to forget the “co” in cooperate. It goes both ways.
Finally, as someone upstream commented, the Republicans have talked of tort reforms for years. The Dem health care overhaul bill made no mention of tort reform. That was yet another lie.
