6.5 Magnitude Earthquake Reported Off California Coast

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off of the coast of California late this afternoon.
The LA Times reported:

The U.S. Geological Survey says a 6.5 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of Northern California.

The USGS says the quake hit at about 4:27 p.m. Saturday about 27 miles from Eureka, a coastal city of about 26,000 that’s 110 miles south of the Oregon border.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says there is no threat of the quake generating a tsunami.
